If you're from Barbados, then you're not African American. The government throws "race" titles and wonder why there's so many problems among people. Also, all people like chicken, it's not depicted by the shade of your skin. I see people saying this is inspirational, stop being a suck up. I understand she's telling her story, but she's not even stating facts. Katt Williams is a comedian, why be offended, that's his job. Like being the "Popeyes chicken" commercials is her job.

And the culture still don't like her ( she's in the same position as Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, etc.). But the understanding is confirmed...she's not African-American / Black ..she lacks understanding.. Indentured Servants and Slaves were nothing of the same.
However....but I still love that chicken from Popeye's.

Yeah, and she comes across as a bit pompous, along with her apparent lack of understanding as to why people would feel some kind of way. I had no opinion of her before. She actually did a decent job of NOT stereotyping the part with the commercials, something I’ve seen with others in commercials, and I didn’t have a problem with her performances. BUT, after listening to her condescending comments in this video, I’m not that impressed with her the person

Successful black people should be prepared for the jealousy, envy, and accompanying backlash. It's the same within other ethnicities. Blacks aren't "special" in this regard.
In the black community, the notion of "The Village" is most often pushed to the forefront. People hit the streets "protesting" for a person they likely wouldn't pay a light bill for.
Here's this lovely, talented working woman expressing the backlash she's received. We are not surprised. We've seen it, lived it. This put-down of someone "on the up" is in stark contrast to the "noise" we see and hear when a black person decides to go all Rambo toward a cop and winds up DOA.
Even when the person is clearly outside the law ("resisting") the protests and riots go on. The BLM message, consequently, gets buried in the midst of the destruction. Pure ignorance.
This woman should be receiving accolades and loving support from the community. Sad that she isn't. So, the reality of "The Village" is fantasy. She's successful. Is she being lauded? No. The Village? We see glimpses. It is how short-lived and superficial it really is down where "the rubber meets the road."
