Ive been using a regular bialetting 6-cup moka pot for a few months and never thought to use the filter basket as the measuring spoon when determining the amount of beans to grind. Great video, I learned something new! Cheers
I found a one-spout one in salvos for $8 in good nick and added two breville cafe roma stainless steel cups for $4 each. now know the right bean amount. Cheers.
oh wow I had't even thought of that!! that'd be amazing but I'm afraid not. But there's the single version - and I'm curious to see if your purchased a bigger basket for it, the espresso would be thick as!
I was thinking of brewing into two shot glasses and then transferring to a mug but was just reading a review dated July 2020 which said you can turn one of the spouts so both shots go into one cup
Just bought one. So psyched! The instructions that came with it say to use a medium grind not fine. Otherwise it will taste bitter. Everywhere else I’m researching does not say this. It also says don’t tamp it down in the instructions. Thoughts?
try brewing with coffee - and there maybe a small blockage on one side- Just brewing with hot water may be able to alleviate this - or else check to see everything is level.
HI there, sometimes less coffee will come out if there is too much ground coffee in the basket - oir the heat is up too high. Or else - you can try unclogging it by brewing without coffee beans and just use the water to flush it out 👌
I have this product but I also have a problem. coffee squirts out of cups and splashes on my induction plate. I tried to lower the temperature, but it was the same. Do you have any advice? thank you
Lower the temperature if you can? .. sounds like it is brewing quite quickly and fast - and perhaps turn the heat off the moment you see the coffee dripping out 👌
Hi! Thanks for the video. I was wondering about temperature. How hot is the coffee supposed to be? Is it possible to get hot coffee instead of warm coffee?
Yes you can! but tbh you don't want it too hot as it will burn the coffee. But adding hot water to it afterwards can maintain or increase the temp No worries
Great video. Do you know how to move the small piston along its axis? It’s in the cleaning part of the instructions. Is it ok to just leave the components to air dry or do I need to dry them?
my bialetti mini express is making different amounts of coffee between 2 cups. what could it be? I only used the coffee maker twice Note: I'm using finely ground coffee
Hi! I hope you read it ! Is it possible to make 1 cup espresso with this? Because it ( bialetti mini 1 cup) doesn't sell in my country, there is just 2 cups version and i really wonder. I want to buy it to my bf and he lives alone.
I would investigate further to see if there's no blockage in the side that's getting less - perhaps consider the unit to be on a slant maybe, causing it to prefer to one side - otherwise if totally unavoidable and still occurring I would place both espressos in to a larger cup, swirl and combine the two then pour back in to each cup evenly.
@@AlternativeBrewing Thanks. No blockage or slant. I found that using a little less coffee in the filter and making a slight divet in the very middle of the coffee grounds helps the water to come through a bit more evenly with slight crema.
Brikka in this instance. There's a lower ratio of water to coffee with the Brikka and it achieves a slightly higher pressure so it comes out much thicker and darker (stronger) than any other of the the Bialetti models 👌
:/ I've honestly not tried this yet - but my concern is less about will it work - and more about - you'll not be getting the best extraction from your coffee - so it'll most likely be a weaker brew. Better use water and add milk later.
Hiya @steve_o I have a moka pot and this cup model, and I totally agree wouldn't tamp down the moka pot, but it also doesn't make an espresso, where this mini is an espresso machine. still, everyone has their fave way of drinking too :D
In Italy they also refused to wash the thing 😂. Sorry, some traditions were coined before people knew anything about coffee. I’ve tried it many different ways. Tamping lightly just increases the risk of channeling and over temp brewing, but if you do it well and evenly and brew slow, it can help get a stronger more espresso like coffee. Also found taking the first 50% and stopping it even before it gets near bubbles helps with a better brew. It gets worse and worse the longer it goes.
Hi there I have the same one but in red colour. My question is how you clean the pipes as my left side pipe is looks like it’s blocked. I tried to clean it with boiling 2 parts of water and 1 part of white vinegar but still I don’t have equal portions. Thanks in advance. Cool video btw
Thanks so much! Yes, you could try boiling water through the brewer without Coffee. in the basket. Or else try using a very small brush. Otherwise, what will generally happen is one side will naturally brew a little more than the other. If it is consistently one side that is not brewing correctly - perhaps try tamping. the coffee down harder in the basket in the side that brew more, or have the brewer ion a slight slant to impact the flow - as even with regular espresso machine spouts - there's no guarantee you'll get even flow from both spouts.
I wouldn't recommend it - you ould just pour both in to one cup - but there is also a 1 cup Model available 👌 alternativebrewing.com.au/product/bialetti-mini-express-1-cup/
Hi, Can I use a 1 cup or a 2 cup basket on the Mini Express Espresso Coffee - 2 cup? I understand that the spouts can't be moved or shut, just want to know if the Mini Express Espresso Coffee 2 cup I compatible with the 1 cup basket I already own with my 1 cup moka express. The item number of the basket is 0800101. Thanks
Hi Alex, yes you can. I done this on other occasions in the opposite way - to use a bigger basket on a smaller brewer to get a richer espresso. These two models have interchangeable baskets yes.
I'm not a health expert - some people will say it is not healthy - but the oxidation is unavoidable on most Aluminium pots - and as long as you keep it to a minimum and keep it completely dry between uses - I know of people who've happily used Moka Pots for 20yrs+
it does not come with anything to close the second spout. There is a single spout moka pot though ~ alternativebrewing.com.au/product/bialetti-mini-express-1-cup/
nothing. It will do this occasionally. The brewer may be on an angle. .. try making sure it is level whilst brewing. otherwise - mix both espresso into on e cup and then divid out evenly to make sure its the same amount and strength in each cup 👍
Using a normal moka pot device at point 3:08 i put the pot in a cold water tank in order to stop the brew immediately, otherwise the rest of brew is a taste disaster and this is a common tip . You can't do this using this device .
A moka pot only makes mocha, not espresso. To make espresso requires a device that raises at least 9 bar of pressure in order to create the intense taste and rich crema. Moka pots only generate between 1 and 2 bar of pressure. Moreover, expresso requires fine-ground coffee, whereas the moka pot requires medium-ground coffee so as to prevent clogging. It is a common misconception that moka/mocha is espresso.

trial and error - but yeah - not too fine or it'll block up. Medium-fine grind is okay. Gentle tamp if any
How many coffees today? My man's bouncing 😂
I am facing an unbalanced waterflow into the two espresso cups. What Gould be the cause for this?
try brewing with coffee - and there maybe a small blockage on one side- Just brewing with hot water may be able to alleviate this - or else check to see everything is level.

I just got one of this and of course I had to check your video first.
How fine should I go with my C40? Something around 12 clicks?
I'd say 12-25 is fine. Don't pack it too much with coffee ground at 12 though 👌
