As a mom myself whose mother passed away before she could meet my youngest, I often get the maternal care I'm wishing for through videos like this. When I'm sick at the same time my kids are sick, it's brutal and videos like this take the edge off for me. Thank you so much ❤

I grew up in 90s yet my mom still did all these things for me down to the vaporizer. I guess some things never change!
Awww. My mom would always tuck me in when I wasn't feeling well. I remember a few times when I was really sick and sleeping most of the day, she came in when I was just nodding off. She kissed my forehead and tucked the blankets around me and put my stuffed toys around my head so I felt safe. I'm 23 now and I still like to call her when I don't feel well.
Make sure you tell her how much you appreciate her. My mom has been gone since 2007 and I would give anything to call her on the phone.

Sophie's a lucky girl to have you for a loving Mom, Sherri. Homes back in the days had arsenals of vaporizers, Vicks jars & glass thermometers. Loved my Barbie too. It was a treat for my Dad to take my sister & I out on Saturday to shop for Barbie's new clothes. Those little accessories were hard to keep contained! This little story was so special to me. Thank you so much, dewdrop. Always love reading your comments, and I really appreciate this one. Sophie was actually my little Maltese puppy girl. I adored her. She would literally sleep around my head at night. She died in 2019 at 11 years old. We have Ziggy (Maltipoo) and Kylo (Sheltie) now, but that little Sophie holds a special place in my heart.
My mom used to make Barbie clothes for me, so that was always fun-an endless supply of fabric scraps and a girl’s imagination. (She made my clothes too.)

my mom was definitely an under reactor as well. i pretty much raised myself. but thankfully I did have a mom mom who would take care of me like this when I saw her. growing up as I did really affected how I raised my kids... totally opposite of mine!! i hope you are having a good day.
Vics to the rescue. I remember my mom put that on me for pretty much everything when I wasn't feeling well. Watching this reminds me of a day in the life of having the flu when I was a kid. I had such a good mom.

WOW that 1962 barbie dream house is a pricey item. It's in fantastic condition.
It is in pretty good condition. I think I’m missing a chair ottoman and maybe something else.

Boy wish my mum had a vaporiser. I had to sit over a bowl full of hot water with vicks, towel over my head breathing in the vapours until my eyes and nose ran! 😂
Vick's vapour rub , my Mother used to put it in a bowl of hot water , I'd hold my head over it and put a towel over my head and breath in the steam .
My mam did the same! Still my go to for clearing my sinuses

Wow. Amazing and realistic role play. Takes me right back to my own childhood. Born in 1962. Remember the way getting sick with the flu was like being hit with a ton of bricks. The chicken soup, saltines and seven up are familiar. The props in the room are amazing and you convey the semi chaos of toys piled up...the way things are played with and then dropped to play with other toys or games without the first toys geing put away. You were so caring and encouraged without forcing. Sounded so real and what a great mom 😊❤

I'm 39, so I grew up mostly in the nineties and my sweet mama would do a lot of these same things for me. The vaporizer and chicken noodle soup, and she would make me Theraflu with ice in it because I didn't like it hot 😂😂😂. This brings back such sweet memories of my mom taking care of me. Thank you ❤❤❤

I might be a guy, but your soft voice reminds me of my mom who would take good care of me when I was sick. (Which was often, I don’t have a good immune system). I’d always play with the Barbies at my friend’s places, and realizing that I was in tune with the softer side of me more than other boys my age alienated me for a while, but as I grew older and learned about other parts of me I gained a lot of self love because I was different. This felt good to relax to, and reminded me of a gentler time in my life. Thank you!

That’s wonderful to hear, Jennifer. It has taken me considerable time to recreate something that approximates my childhood bedroom. There’s a level of randomness in the real thing, and that was so hard to duplicate from my adult perspective. Fun fact: the blue ceramic 18th century seated couple that I used for one of the book ends-I found that at a thrift shop recently, and I just about died when I saw it because I had the EXACT same thing in my childhood bedroom, except mine was a creamy white. Also, the tiny metal chalice looking thing on the shelf is actually a remnant from my childhood bedroom. I kept it all these years and unearthed it from the hope chest when I was rummaging through its contents looking for props. I collected such random things.

Not to ruin the ASMR mood...but every time I see that hairbrush it takes me back to being a kid. Some kids got a switch or the belt when they were naughty...not us..we got the Avon hairbrush. I even sent my sister a picture of it. If that had been green then it really would have taken us back. Lolol. My dad lived to have his hair brushed and my Grandma gave him that green Avon brush. Lol.

My goodness I have that same black Barbie doll case and that same shorthaired Barbie and that was probably put out in the early 60’s! Absolutely amazing. All of it was like a gift from my mama. We just went back in time to the 1960s.🩷💐
