The rubber tip is also useful so that it doesn’t slide down the wall and fall over if you lean it against the wall. I keep mine next to my bed. The rubber cap also makes it quiet to use as a regular cane, otherwise it makes a lot of noise, especially on home floors or tiles, but also on pavement and it’ll keep the stick from getting chewed up.
I got this almost a year ago. For over $40 it's worth buying. Also makes a great self defense tool. The next one I'm planning on getting is the African walking stick.
@@Bates1960 I have the City Stick and it is really nice, almost too nice for walking in the woods or neighborhood. I ended up dropping it and I scratched the ball n the top of it. Still a cool sick. I really wish the walking stick would come back in style, people give me some odd looks when I carry mine.
@@stpeteaustin I got the city stick a year ago. It's a lot slimmer lightweight and easy to use. The knob can also be engraved. I'm planning on getting the African walking stick next.
My companion for my daily walks through the woods. I've toyed with it and am confident in its defensive capabilities. Totally agree with @Traderjoe that a good rubber tip is a crucial addition to this cane.
@@waynehighsmith7591 Also good self defense tool. For over $40 it's worth buying. Much larger size and has some weight to it. You can cut it down to a certain size.
The Walkabout seems like Cold Steel's best self defense walking stick. It doesn't look tactical, but you can swing the head at people. It also looks like it can be easily cut to size.
I just got one too. I got a rubber cane tip from the pharmacy and it makes it so much nicer. I got the cold steel baseball bats too, but I think this is much more practical. It’s lighter, but easier to whip around and nobody really looks at you funny carrying it around, but the baseball bat would raise some eyebrows.
I got this a few months ago. Awesome for over $40. Also I have the city stick, axe head cane, blackthorn walking stick. I have unboxing reviews on them as well.
Awesome!! How much was it? Where did you get it?? How many sticks do you own??? Was it a worth buying???? What is it called????? Can you use it while hiking, jogging or self defense??????
I got this last year for over $40. It's worth buying. It's a good self defense tool. Has some weight to it. I five Cold Steel walking sticks. My latest will be the escrima walking stick.
I originally was drawn to the African walking stick, but several reviews mentioned the top was either uncomfortable, or too large. As I mentioned elsewhere in this comment section, I was going to purchase mine at Midway to save $5. over the Cold Steel website, but I noticed, when you put the stick on the stand, it looks like the stick isn't straight- Maybe it's just something optical, but have you ever checked it for straightness? I might just pay the extra $5. to get it from the CS website, just in case.

I got one but felt it was heavy and the knob too big. So I have gun drills I bought at Harbor Freight And step drilled til I got a 3/8” hole about two feet from the knob end drilled And cut the knob down in diameter about a half inch then blended it with a half inch course drum on a Dremel.
@@Bates1960 Yeah , I saw that one and you got them from where I got mine MidwayUSA, thanks for letting me know about them , that's how I found out about them and their good price about a month and a half ago. MidwayUSA ships fast too and they have the best prices. 👍

@@Bates1960 I'm trying to buy walking sticks for timber rattlers in the Appalachian mountains. My sister takes my daughter and my niece hiking there all the time. They always make snake sticks before they go. If you're walking in brush where you can't see the ground, you have to root around with a snake stick first. I figured a self defense walking stick could kill two birds with one stone. The problem is that my sister is 5' 2" tall, and my daughter and niece are like 4' 6" and 4' 11". @@Bates1960 I have a mobility disability, so I no longer go hiking there, like I did through my late 20's.
