"Thoughts on the Slate Digital VRS8 modeling microphone technology?"
"Do certain pedals work better with certain tube types and pickup types?"

Reh-yeh-No. That's the way.
Awesome video as always Brian. Cheers!
casa zapato frijol hombre?
Hosa is a good company they been around since 1980's or earlier same Pro Co
I use both am planning splurge switch to bpta & rattlesnake cables, my email box is flooded with offers by BTPA & Rattle Snake cable co.
Pro Co cables are decent I have about three they are hand built solder style very old company same people that make the Rat but think a change for quality is in order.
My other favorite is Spectraflex had No issues, with 10 year old standard cable but Pro Co they do have issues like cracking & split.
Hosa & Pro Co are music industry standard cable. There's many companies china, off brand are copies of both Hosa & Pro Co. These are off brand sold by musicansfriend etc.
Loving the Q and A's! WILL YOU BE MAKING A WAH OR VOLUME PEDAL?
I really respect the fact that even though you have your own pedal company, you give props to other pedal makers and use other gear.
You asked so I'll answer: I dig these Q&A's. It's always nice to see successful, yet accessible business owners. Thanks for your time, Brian. Cheers!
"Chili Relleno" MUST be the name of your next pedal!
Brian, I am so glad I got into electric guitar, just because it helped me find your channel!
What a down to earth guy. Gives great advice and opinions. Makes me want to buy wampler pedals!
Waited all my adult life for a Tumnus Deluxe!..... Thanks Mr & Mrs Wampler, you have made a Scotsman very happy.
I just wanna say it’s good to see/hear from you more. I know the whole content creation on top of being an entrepreneur isn’t easy. I appreciate your take on things. You explain things in a way that makes sense to a knuckle dragger like me. Hope you and the family and the critters are well.
*You're such a nice guy. I feel warm watching your videos.*
no homo
You just earned my respect for giving a shout-out for Tex-Mex. The double-L is said like an English "Y" in Mexican Spanish, so, "rey-YEN-ose" for Tex-Mex; if you say it as "LY" (thus, "rey-LYEN-ose"), that's closer to Castilian Spanish. If you want to have something amazing, try carne guisada or barbacoa. The latter dates to pre-Columbian times, and is truly "made in America." Thanks for the great advice on pedal order, too! :)
I really like your philosophy about listening to what customers are asking for. serving the customer is what will keep you in business.
Thanks for answering questions Brian, I and most likely many, appreciate you 🤘🏻
hi brian I'm a professional country entertainer with a degree in electronics I find your pedals the best ive heard because as I listen to them I notice the signals do not degrade in your pedals like they do in most other brands. out of respect of other products I wont mention any names but I think you know what I'm saying. as far as I'm concerned if you want a pristine sound with quality wampler is far above most other brands..im building a new pedal board right now for my show and wampler will be all over my board.LOL love the videos also; Dan The Nashville Performer..
The Euphoria saved my life, thanks for that and all you guys do!
My comment is this, I like your videos better than all the others, and I watch a lot of them, thank you very much for what you do for all of us musicians, God bless you. 🎶😎🎸
Always love your unpretentious persona. You're a friend not just a youtube presenter. I really appreciate that ! Thanks!
Where was I, and why did it take me until today, 2023, to discover your channel? You're awesome! 🙏
Ok i have to admit, i wasn't much into guitar for a long time. Just revived my spark with a new guitar this summer 😊
Don't own a Wampler pedal but this is one of my favorite channels. thanks Brian
Pretty much dig everything you do. Q&A, Tech Talk, interviews, podcasts....keep up the great work!
Old? Not so much, Brian. Take it from a 59 year old headbanger who wishes he could remember 43. ;-)
What a great Video!
Thank you Brian for all the help and the Tipps you put out!
I think you are the Best Example of how a Company should be run these Days!
All the best to you
Cheers ,Flo
love Mr.Wampler....vids are so entertaining, educational, and low-key...(and, "anything" Mexican to the 1st question...)...
You arent old, dude . . . I can remember BEFORE guitar tuners, waaay back, when there was ONLY MXR ! . . . . I'm kinda new here dude, but I really like your informed information and your general attitude . . thanks very much for your time and efforts
Your plextortion pedal changed my Life. Thank you
Yep! Filters, modulation (amplitude, phase, & frequency) BEFORE dirt!
Also agree with you on pickups-- I definitely prefer single coils into a Big Muff Pi.
Thanks WampCat. Lol
Your crushing it with your videos, please don't change anything about them.
48 and getting back into it. Still have everything from the eighties. Really enjoying watching your take on the new. Looking forward to checking out some of your creations. Tumnus first . Cheers from Canada!
Love it. Zip ties my friend. That's the best comment I've heard in awhile.
honest and straightforward answers. Thanks brian!
Love your videos! can't wait to get my hands on a Tumnus Deluxe!
Thank you Brian, enjoyed the Q&A, very informative as well as, entertaining
I had an ADA MP-1! I was kind of seduced by the idea of being able to radically change tones and FX (with additional Digitech FX processor) to anything I wanted by stepping on one button. The reality was that the workflow of spending a lot of time diving into the settings on a little LED display and setting up everything ahead of time in a very meticulous fashion, then just going to the gig and stepping on the controller buttons without much ability to tweak on the fly just wasn't my thing. I ditched it after a couple of years and went minimalist (Strat->Tube Works Real Tube ->Dual Showman). These days I've got an Egnater Rebel 30 combo and use more pedals (including the FANTASTIC Tumnus!) to shape my tone. But in a pinch I can still do a show with just a guitar, single channel amp and good overdrive pedal.
This was great. I didn't ask any questions, but I had some answered! Awesome video! 👍
love the q and a, like hearing your experience and thoughts
Thanks
These videos are the shit! Even when you don realize youre doing it, youre giving out some advice or knowledge from someone whos got a bit more experience under their belt (whys that sound so dirty...??) that someone like myself might not have realized or picked up on through their own trials and errors and tests and aggravations and discoveries. These videos kick ass, man. Im gonna hunt out the other things you mentione doing: facebook, blogs,... The... Other... Things. Gonna have to watch that again actually. Super appreciative of all the help you spread. Like knowledge napalm or something. Carpet bombin my brain with information.
I may have stayed up a bit too long actually....
glad you like them 😊
Love the Q & A's Brian. Keep them coming!
I'm not a guitar geek by any stretch of the imagination (and I'm certainly not a good guitarist), but I have to say these videos are ace. I always have to watch.
I like these type of videos, knowledge is always good
Really appreciate all the videos, Brian .
I always enjoy your wit and wisdom, keep em coming!
I'm just here for the tacos.
And to hear Brian try to pronounce "chili rellenos."
Your true gentleman and businessman thanks once again for all your help and support 😊👍🙏❤️
Totally dig these q&a videos. As every other video from you
Thanks for these type videos , very interesting and helpful , very much appreciated
This is the last channel I would ever expect a JonTron cameo on.
I like the q&a. Keep 's coming Brian.
i have tried some of your pedals, but i don't own any. i own a lot of high end pedals, but somehow i always chose another brand. i do however love your videos, very informative and educational. i might have to go back and look at some of your pedals again and get some. you deserve a look just based on how helpful your videos are. thank you.
Thanks I am glad that you enjoy them 😊
Speaking of the Friedman amps one day I'll own a Friedman Phil X amp!!! I only use one channel and roll my volume down for "Clean tones" Also thinking about trying the Wampler Tape Echo or Delay how ever its worded. Looks to be a Killer Echo Machine!!! Thanks Brian. I can't wait to hear a Wampler Tape Echo into my Dirty Channel. Love the dirty Echo noise Kinda Hendrix tones. Lol
I make my own pedal cables Mogami 2319 , it's a thin cable and works great for getting into tight spots . I got this advise from Bob Bradshaw { pedalboard guru } . I love my Wampler " dual fusion " and my Keeley " Dyno MY Roto " tri chorus ......
I dig these Q&A's and I'm letting you know
Dig the Q&A. Thank you. Very informative
I always have questions, and you have legit answers. Poifect!
Yes, Brian, you do need to get some Rattlesnake cables! They are great, and Hank has excellent customer service.
I wish I lived near Brian "the brain" Wampler, just so, I could have the chance to meet this dude by chance, buy him a beer to say thanks for being one of the soundest coolest guys in the industry! But I would probably just verbally vomit what little I know about circuitry thinking it a viable hello ha!
I dont leave many comments, this is probably why, but I just had to say thanks for being a decent human being and not an ivory tower guy, thank you
Thank you for the kind words 😊
@@wampler_pedals came across this video 2 years after you posted it. Great video. I enjoyed it!
One question for you. Saw the sound proofing material on your walls and ceiling. Does it work really well? The way you have it set up? Or does it work correctly if it's wall to wall?
Digging the Q&A Brian, thank you!
80's guitar tones are my favorite all around. Thanks Brian! Still loving the Wampler 57' tweed, fantastic pedal.
Tones like The Fixx?
Thank you Brian!
Currently using Friedman power supply!
I have 4 of your pedals> love all of them! Please make a looper that doesn't suck in one way or another (with quiet switches), and that is "reliable" to use in a live setting, real RELIABLE!!!
Thanks, Dave
I might just have to buy a Wampler pedal because you are such a nice guy.
GREAT Video as usual. Keep up the good work.
Hosa is great. I also would suggest George L's. I have used them for at least 15 years -with no issues at all.
Love the videos :) I wouldn't use zip ties for cable management on a pedal board, I'd use a roll of double sided velcro. I work in IT and I use it all the time for cable management, much easier when you come to break things down later. Have you ever thought of doing pedal kits, in the same way that people do kit guitars?
Awesome video! Thank you Brian!
Eyyy! perfect timing. this video just popped up as i'm about to wire/set up my board XD
Diggin all your vids Brian! Great attitude = great pedals!
I love these Q & A videos ... Thanks man.
6 years later, I’m watching again🎉
I should probably create an updated version of this!
11:27 - "the ultimate tone"... And I proceed to give the ultimate eyeroll **smh** Honestly. Guys. Can we all stop taking this/ourselves so seriously already? You know how many of your favorite songs had guitar tones using gear solely because it was just whatever they had lying around?! JUST GO MAKE MUSIC!!!
I miss my ADA MP1 preamps, I have them still but I need to overhaul the capacitors and restore them. But, I have found pedals that along with my Boss MS-3 that give me similar results. Plus, I have my Mesa Nomad 100/Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8 setup that I really love now.
For your use of JonTron youve earned my like, sir!
it was an 'eye-opener' ('ear-opener'?) to hear your quick summation on your preferences in 'pedal chain order'. will have to try some of these ideas out...
Thanks for your time!
You can babble all you want. It's still entertaining! lol
Pedal hoarder? It's becoming a real thing for me. I always say, "After this I'm done for a year or two". Then I buy another.
Dude, I have (and still use) am ADA-MP1 "Classic." Fantastic sounding piece of gear! It can sound dated in the drive sound, but issuing it as a clean pedal platform works great for modern tones.
Questions & Arswers are great and all, just make sure not to spread yourself too thin. You can only make so many until you go full Fluff and you're answering questions about unreleased albums and gear you haven't had any chance to try, or your take on a mainstream AS ZUCK movie.
I would love to see y’all make a one stop Power supply. Take a massive amount of power and clean it up for any pedals (I have pedals that need 500ma) and even a separate few outlets for amps and things like a power supply. Maybe even a small backup system inside it for playing on the go for half an hour or something
So far I only have 1 Wampler pedal, Velvet Fuzz...runs alongside MXR Distortion, and both have their sweet spots. VF is my fav drive fuzz. Hey, if it's jake with Andy Martin and Brett Kingman it's for me. More Wampler pedals are on my radar. Thanks Brian...Tacos ! And, hey when available--WORLDS BEST CABLES - using Mogami 2524 wire and Neutrik NP2RX-AU-SILENT & Neutrik NP2X-AU-SILENT ¼ Inch (6.35mm) TS Plugs..1/2 the price of the big guys.
I never use Daisy chain connections any more. I have purchased 2 affordable isolated power supplies recently, One is called Dinosaur with 8, 9 volt power works great, but slightly to bulky to put on the pedal board. It has a permanent 3 prong power chord. I tried a Vitoos DC8 is small two, have selectable 1,000mA outputs and 6 isolated 9 volt 300mA outs. I noticed noise level was much quieter. I am using the Dinosaur is going to be used at home, the other is small enough to keep in a guitar case. I labeled all my power cables on both ends. Theses are for my aux pedals, not my regular board.
Love these videos should be longer.
Man this is great! So informative, awesome channel!
I’m sure people have more important things to say, but.... Lava Cables. Made right here in Owasso, Ok. And come on down for Mexican food. If you ever come see Robert Keeley, make him take you to Tarahumaras in Norman or something there in Edmond/ OKC. Good Mexican all over Oklahoma. Other than that... great stuff. Keep it up.
Iv had all hosa cables since 2008 , still use most of em all the time . So wat u said ,, yeah .
Speaking of power supplies, there are pedals that require 9V and draw 100ma or less. Then there are pedals that require 9v and draw 300ma or more. That being said, if a power a 9V 100ma power supply is used for a pedal that requires 9v 300ma, what are the consequences? Power supply will burn out? Pedal will be affected or worse bricks? Thanks for the great videos Brian!
"Hö" in Höboman is pronounced a bit like "bu" or "ge" in "burger". Nordic people would describe pronouncing "burger" like "böögöö(r)" (and boman like "boo" and "mah-n"). As far as my swedish knowledge goes, Höboman means something like "man living in hay" :D I understand your confusion on "hobo man", laughed my ass off thinking it was somebody's name for real.
I'm really interested in GigRig's modular pedal power system lately. So many have been amazed at how much better their pedals sound, and how quiet and clean the signal is, especially with those loopers taking them out of the circuit when not used. The downside is the huge cost, every isolation block with 4 outputs for example is £60, but the plus side is that you can slowly build a bigger system from the bare minimum basic units. And you'll know that the basic units you're building off of are top quality.
I once fell for the high cost cable thing....once. A monster cable to go between the wah and the other pedals. Zero difference between tone quality. I spent $40 on a 3 foot patch cable for no good reason. Ya live and ya learn.
.....and I like the Q and A
.....almost as much as I like T & A. 😆
Tacos and applesauce? 😂
Wampler Pedals - Is that Mexican fusion?
As a Texan I can attest and swear by the legend of the chili relleno 👌
Ooh .You said you don't really care for chorus. Even if it's Indyguitarist modded chorus. From back-in-the -day modded Boss CH-1 chorus. Well I'm glad I was able to p/u a used chorus pedal to make my board more complete. THANKS for your early work.
I love your videos, very informative.
Brian's pedal order preferences @4:30
Wah...Phaser...Flanger...Vibrato...Compression...OverDrive1...Distorsion...OD2?...on FX Loop: Chorus...EQ...Delay...Reverb.
Wonder where he'd place Fuzz.
after the wah. I may stick a buffer in between the wah and fuzz as well.
I think you're a great guy Brian keep up the good work 👌⚡👌
WAMPLER, after you build a pedalboard, how are you measuring the noise floor level? and what do you do to lower the noise floor level instead of using a noise gate or noise reduction units?
Truly Isolated power supplies and strategic wiring practices as well as any power conditioning from mains wiring will help a lot
Hi Brian! Thanks for doing everything you do! In a previous video, you mentioned that you make your own enclosures, is there any possibility of making these available for DIY guys?
What do you think of DC Brick's by Dunlop for a power source?
Interesting. But, your not old my fellow Hoosier. I am 56. Old school. When I started it was thru a Fender tube amo cranked with a guitar. ;).
Now I use solud state amps because they are so so so much easier to maintain, and they to me at least sound just as good ..Especially mic'd.
I just wish someone would make a great boost pedal that didn't make noise. I realize that more gain equals more noise. Part of the reason I use active pickups, etc. I am constantly trying to fight the noise monster and yet get a gain sound I like which is a lot of gain. I go out of my way to only use very little in pedals. etc. But, I have learned so much in your videos . You do provide value to guys like me that don't have time to be goid at electronics, etc. You can't be good at everything, and I want to spend more time playing, not worrying about euipment. . Thanks a bunch.
Tim.
Seymour, In.
Those premium Hosa cables are great.
You made it a great day. Thanks
Love these videos dude, thank you and keep it up!
thanks for the advice Mr Wampler.
you can use YE-llow to say
Chile re-YE-no
stuffed chile.
I like this kind of video a lot. Been playing as long as you, but kind of new to understanding pedals and effects. Query: I have a few pedals, Is there a resource that you know of that can help me understand, or know exactly what kind of pedals they are? Either a compendium of information about specific pedals, or else a way that I can learn to look at the circuit itself and know. Basically, when I watch a bunch of videos of how to use tubescreamers and Klons etc, I'd like to know where my pedals are on that spectrum so I can utilize the information.
Brian, why a vibe pedal before dirt?
