    Useful demo. I really need to get one. Between my basement and shed I've three different ladders. And that's not counting my 30-ft extension ladder covered by vines behind the shed.

    That’s brilliant. Thank you. I could not make sense of the instruction pictures on the ladder.

      Thanks for watching. I have used it a few times. The important thing is to ensure the clips have latched into place properly. The main benefit to me is that I can put it in my car as it seems my daughter uses it more than I do for accessing her security cameras.

    When those ladders first came out, we all wanted one. After one of the lads got one, we tried it and thought the weight, cost and time to extend didn't make it worthwhile. The idea is great. it's mostly the weight of the thing that's off-putting. It's also a bit awkward to carry.

      It fits in my car when I have to drive over to my daughter's house to fix things 😁👍 I have several normal ladders and was looking at buying a roof rack for the car so I could carry them, then the idea of the telescopic ladder came up. Most annoyingly, I had inherited a telescopic ladder from my wife's dad, but I had given that to my other daughter years ago 🙄

      Meh. The early extendibles were a bit wobbly, so you're probably better off with that new one..@@GrandadIsAnOldMan

    We have access to 1 of this type. But for most toy-from-tree retrievals, the good old slingshot plus fishing sinker and line to haul up a more solid rope, then rattle to shake loose and/or break down the branch always turns out to be more efficient! 😜😂😂

    I have one similar .. very handy as you said about portability. I think my one is same size 2.9 m.😃

      I have several good sized ladders. However I no longer have a car with a roof rack, so when my daughter needed some ladder work done, I compared the price of buying a roof rack to buying one of these telescopic ladders and decided the ladder was probably the better option. Especially as I can just put it in the back of the car with no worries about coming loose on the roof.

    Thanks for alerting me to the updated video :)
    It was very helpful and it answered all my questions on it. It must be the only vid on YT about it.
    Looks to me like Werner really thought about it and solved issues that it's competitors were having with what seemed like, for the most part, a shared universal design blueprint between brand names.
    Additionally they added new features to improve the design further, so it's a good sign that you haven't experienced issues so far.
    This Werner design seems like it might be more proprietary to themselves.
    I really appreciate that you were able to show in more detail. Looking forward to not having to worry so much about trapping fingers in this one either- with the soft glide movement.
    Ok I better stop,it sound like Im promoting the item! I will however have to buy one of these, thanks to you.
    I dont think it's showing up in your main video section yet? Unless I need to refresh or something.
    TY and stay well 👍

      They're handy. The alternative is cumbersome and overkill for most tasks, plus I don't have a hard roof for a roof rack but I do have rear folding seats that extend the boot space. Although I don't think I'd even have to fold them.
      Re: gave ladder away: The consolation is that you might have potentially saved yourself some fingers. But if your daughter doesn't call you in a while...🖖🤳 you know why. 😅

    I used to work at a company that had 30+ employees who used these ladders. We stopped using it because it would suddenly collapse crushing a few thumbs and amputating at least one.
    So use it with upmost caution.

    This is an interesting design which I've never seen before. The proposed utility is obvious but I'm not sure I'd personally find it convenient to actually use. I'd be hesitant to trust it.

    I bought a 12' 6" telescopic ladder much like yours, though I wasted money, bought it to clean my gutters, didn't feel very secure at all for the duty, ended up hiring folk to do it. Won't do that again, guess I'll just need more courage next time or a heavier duty ladder with a wider base an the attachment that rests on the roof instead of the gutter lol

      I spent a large percentage of my working life climbing ladders as a telephone engineer. We had ropes and harnesses. Then as a manager I was responsible for doing regular documented safety checks on my guys as they worked. We also had the equipment checked on a regular basis by our safety team. One of the advantages of being part of an enormous company was it could run a proper safety system, including training facilities. At the time I was working for them, they had around 250K employees. Oh, and we would not have used ladders like this as they would have been unsuitable for the work and obviously we had proper ladder racks on the vans to carry decent ladders.

    Stupid design having to extend from the bottom

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  25 дней назад

      So you would rather have all the closed steps at the bottom blocking your footing as you ascend or descend 🤔🤔

    • @123boat
      @123boat 25 дней назад

      @@GrandadIsAnOldMan Mine extends from the top and have never had an issue coming down. As mine is getting old I was looking at what was the latest ones. Extending from the bottom would be an absolute faff on a longer ladder. Just my opinion 👍

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  25 дней назад

      @@123boat But this is not a long ladder. It is what it is and if you leave a bunch of steps together near the bottom, there is every chance you will miss your footing on the way down. Not a problem if you always fully extend it, but asking for trouble if you don't. Certainly something like a 3 section ladder, you would raise the top section first, lock it in place, and then raise the next section, the steps will all align in that case, so you shouldn't have any problem descending. Please note, I am not trying to sell this ladder to anybody, just showing what I bought for my purposes.

    • @123boat
      @123boat 25 дней назад

      @@GrandadIsAnOldMan I do apologise as I’ve not been clear about my ladder 🙄 I can extend it from the bottom for shorter jobs. Where mine is getting old and stiff I’ve sometimes had to extend from the bottom to extend to full height and that’s been an absolute faff. Hope that’s cleared up the confusion 🤞

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  25 дней назад

      @@123boat My only concern was blocking the rungs at the bottom. Even if you know you have done it, you are bound to forget on the way down after finishing whatever you were doing. Then the uneven space will catch you out, like walking down ordinary stairs when the last step is higher or lower than expected.
      That is why the unopened sections should be at the top, where your eyes and hands are, not at the bottom where you can't see them.
      If you always fully extend the ladder, you won't have the problem, but if you only part extend it, you will.👍👍
      I don't think telescopic ladders are a great idea anyway, but they have their uses.
