Schaffhausen - Margaret's Day Trip to One of the Most Amazing Medieval Towns in Switzerland!

- I love the town of Schaffhausen for these colorful and intricate medieval facades which are visible all around the town. The unique thing is that the buildings have all been converted into shops and the facades still adorn the upper levels. It is so dramatic to see the beautiful artwork above a shoe store or Chinese restaurant.
The name for these windows that protrude from a building is Oriel windows :-)
In this short video I take you on a little journey around Schaffhausen just a couple of days after Christmas 2022. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Margaret, Schaffhausen looks amazing, the Euro art on the old buildings always blows me away, blessings for a healthy 2023 and perhaps another village in a month or two, we in the US enjoy the day trips!

Just beautiful! I love Switzerland. I was lucky enough to spend 5 weeks there when I was 16 which was many years ago, but it is a fond memory!

Such a beautiful city. What is the architectual name of those windows that pop out of the buildings, like little rooms floating. They are beautiful and very medieval.
I think they are called Oriel windows - you can check online to confirm but they are gorgeous!
Is this the town where they manufacture IWC Schaffhausen watches?

I just googled Schaffhausen to see what the name meant. It was a Jewish place for manufacturing wooden scoops. Is there a synagogue?
