Yup! They need a roughened surface - actually all birds want that along with shallow water. Most purchased bird baths are too deep & too smooth. I think your on too something using the feeder. It's something they are used to seeing so they should come quicker! I'm going to try with Terry cloth wrung out in thin cement for the texture and see what happens. Also using a firm paint brush to add texture to cement ...

This is such a cool idea. I love how you used the hummingbird feeder to have the water come out of the holes & covering up the water bucket helps to stop evaporati9n. Nice job

    Love the combo of baths!
Robbie of Robbie and Gary's careening channel uses her Sodering iron to make little ridges along the perimeter of her humming bird baths, as well as the sticks, and they respond well!
Like you, I'm waiting for the hummers to discover the feeder and flowers in my yard!

Yes. I was going to suggest that to you but someone added… the texture is important for the bird to attach their tiny claws. Nice video…

Do you have hummingbird feeders? Do you feed the regular birds seed as well?

Humming birds aren’t being seen as much in our area . Also , the hummers seem to really like the spreads with water running on them . Gonna send you a name of a woman that has tons of hummingbirds in CA

Sounds like you might be talking about Robbie and Gary. She gets tons of them at her feeders.

It’s my understanding that hummingbirds don’t like water dripping on them - I believe if you replace the feeder dripping with a bubbling type ornament you would soon see hummingbirds come

I think you need REAL FLOWERS they like to attract the birds.
