You are very welcome. I like to find the places most miss by using a highway😎 Happy you found my travel channel with over 1,100 videos from around the world.
I grew up in Ponca City. I have many happy memories of spending my summers reading in the library there across from city hall and swimming at Continental’s pool or water skiing at Lake Ponca. Mom used to drop us off at the Poncan Theater on Saturday each of us with a friend and gave us a quarter for candy. I attended East Junior High but they used to have tennis courts there where the parking lot is now on the east side of the north building. I remember distinctly going to the tennis courts one 4th of July with my little brother and two older sisters and decorating my bike or maybe it was my trike with red, white and blue crepe paper streamers woven through the spokes. My big sisters helped and made sure we got to the right starting place to be in the big Independence Day parade down Grand Avenue! I must have been 7 or so. The best time of year was Christmas time and we couldn’t wait for the Christmas decorations to go up on the light poles along Grand. It was family tradition to drive down Grand and through the streets to see all the Christmas lights.I graduated from Po-Hi (Ponca City High School) in 1973 and my parents moved to Houston that summer before I went to college. I have only been back through town a few times since. The last time in 1987 was with my mom on our way to a family reunion in Kansas City. Ponca City was the original home of CONtinental Oil COmpay CONOCO (well kind of - technically it started in Ogden, Utah in 1875, then became part of Standard Oil. In 1899 E.W. Marland merged it with his company Marland Oil and restored the Continental name. It was based in Ponca City until 1949. My dad worked for Continental from 1955 or 56 until 1974. He was an electrical engineer who worked on pipelines all over the world for Conoco. His department stayed in Ponca until 1973. Ponca City was a wonderful place to grow up! I wish you had filmed the High School and the Pioneer Woman Monument! I guess now that I’m retired, I will just have to hop in the car and drag my husband back there to see where I spent my childhood. It is very different from where he grew up!!.......Hong Kong!!
Sandra, you make Ponca sound beautiful and a great place for family. I wish I filmed the high school and monument for you also. Happy you found this video and my travel channel. Hope you and your husband enjoy Ponca😎
This was crazy seeing it from above like this. I was born there in 92 and lived there up until the last 10 years or so. I'm almost 31 now and my time there other than the people I still visit during the holidays is fuzzy. Crazy to see it this way. I wonder what that current construction was about. I lived there back before the Hutchison Memorial got demolished.
I feel the same seeing places I lived with my drone😎 Sad so much history had been destroyed. Happy you found my travel channel with over 1,000 videos from around the world.
"I really enjoy all your drone videos especially of smaller towns that most people have never heard of. Have not gone thru all your videos but you might check out Ogallala, NE and nearby Lake McConaughy! Beautiful white sand beaches!" PS The lake is pretty frozen now so probably not the best time to go but definitely check out at some point.
Thank you Jeanette; this is now on my list of areas to visit😎 My apology for losing your last post. I was trying to copy location and must have had my finger near delete button.
Great movie😎 I filmed primarily on weekends, holidays and early morning when most people are home. This is also winter time when I enjoy traveling with less people on the roads so a lot of what you find on my channel may look like this all over the world. Take care!
Would the person that posted here about going to a lake in Nebraska please repost. The post disappeared as I tried to reply and locate where to go. Thank you😎
I grew up in Ponca and recently moved back here from Tulsa. Never saw it from above before. Thank you.
