The 8th Match of TVS Cup 2003 played in Bengaluru on Nov 12, 2003, between India and Australia was won by Australia by 61 runs. In the match, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Adam Gilchrist and Hayden made 119 runs partnership for 1st wicket. They gave a very good start to the Australian team. Gilchrist made his 50 runs in just the first 12 overs. He made 111 runs for the team. That was Gilchrist's highest ODI score against India. His previous best was 92 in Adelaide in 2000 till the match. It was Gilchrist's 1st ODI century against India. Captain of Australian team Ricky Ponting made 108 runs in just 103 balls. Damien Martyn scored 61 runs. Australia put 347 runs on the board in 50 overs by losing just 2 wickets. Sachin Tendulkar made 89 runs for the team. Ganguly made 37 runs in just 31 balls. But unfortunately, the Indian team was unable to chase a big total of 348 runs and 286 runs in 50 overs by losing 8 wickets. Symonds took 3 wickets in his 9 over spell.

We won CB series because of Sachin, Gambhir and Praveen Kumar. Specially those 2 final match knocks by Tendulkar 117* and 93 helped to lift the cb cup else defeating Ricky's aus team in finals is a dream.

In early 2000s Australia was the best team but in this series they don't have bowlers. Bowling attack without McGrath and Lee looked toothless, yet new comers like Bichel, bracken and co did the job well. And that beating India in India with newbies is quite an achievement.
Back in the time any team just used to participate in match against Australia.. not to win ... They were such dominant team..

@@jatanvaishnav5596 Yeah against quite a poor indian bowling attack at that time they looked fearless...and what is the meaning of fearless? does that mean they used to score 150 runs in 15 overs everytime.. I think people are stuck in 90s cricket nostalgia and they dont want to come out of that romance....and it doesnt matter because when the children of today will growup in few years from now and form the major opinion on social media, 90s kids will grow old by that time and that nostalgia filled emotional assumptions on youtube will also subside gradually....
That was Australia's second rated bowling team and still India managed to get only 286. Imagine if McGrath, Lee and Gillespie were there in this match. No team dominated cricket like that Aussies team... 👍
