I actually found a local Porsche restoration shop local to me several years ago and he did EXACTLY what you did, With the exception of sand blasting my entire hatch glass frame…. I took him 2 full weeks and it cost me $150 plus tax, I was advised NOT to use the hatch struts for at least 6 months until the urethane fully cured… The MAIN issue with doing this job is 1 cleanliness, 2 Proper prep and 3 Using QUALITY materials!!!!! Porsche did NOT have the proper urethane and adhesives that are on the market today….You did an EXCELLENT job explaining how to do this job correctly and let us know how well you’re hatch holds up…👍👍👏👏
Thanks for watching, and especially for the affirmations about the process I used! I haven’t found a lot of definitive info, so was cobbling together a process that seemed to make sense. I’ll try to get a follow up vid going soon. One piece of hindsight is to consider removing the top trim. I left it on as I did not want to risk bending it. But it sure got in the way when we were positioning the glass on the wet urethane! Sounds like you got an excellent deal from the restorer. It was a big job!
Thanks so much for watching and for commenting! Best of luck with the project. Please make sure to check out my follow-up video for a few tips from hindsight!
Thanks for watching! It’s holding up beautifully. Here is a link to the follow-up video: 944 Hatch: How’s the Repair Holding Up? ruclips.net/video/a_mbwyC45U8/видео.html

Great upload and thanks for the step-by-step explanation. I have the same problem with mine, your video will make things much easier. I will get the supplies needed, and then I guess I’ll have to get married too😊anyhting for my 944. Thanks.
LOL! Sarah is, for sure, the most important part of this (or any) project for me 💕. In hindsight, the hatch fix has been my favorite project/outcome on this car so far. Good luck with yours and please let me know how it turns out!
@@fixityfix LOL, got to have a little fun too, can’t be all work. I just found a nearby hatchback for sale on MP, the seller says it’s in a perfect condition, I guess that’s what we all say when we ant to sale something, but I think I should get it just to have a spare in case I screw up fixing mine. For $200, can’t go wrong. Thanks again for the video.
Whoa! $200 is a steal for a hatch if it’s in decent condition! Might be worth fixing both and selling the spare if they both turn out well. People seem to be paying big bucks to get these fixed. The repair isn’t too hard, just time and tool consuming!
@@fixityfix I’m also planning to buy the 968 fiberglass spoiler and side trim set to replace the original, there’s no better time since they’ll be taken off already. I think the 968 rear wing is much better looking, but that’s just me. Let’s see, I hope I can pull it off.

Thanks for being so thorough and putting this video up. Can you estimate how many hours it took from start to finish for this repair?
Probably 6 to 8 hours work. Of course there were intervals of dry-time for the 2k paint and primer.
Very nice video. Thank you for sharing! New subscriber. Take care!
Thanks for watching, subscribing and for the kind comment!
