Great getting-started piece, as always! In case anyone comes here because their first Z-Wave device is an S2-secured device like the Schlage Connect (Z-Wave Plus version), DON'T FORGET to go (in the Z-Wave JS UI console) to Settings > Z-Wave section and fill in all of the security keys that are blank, by clicking the double-arrow to generate new keys. I spent WAAAAAY too much time trying to troubleshoot my setup, even temporarily moving my server+Zooz S2 stick right next to the lock, and installing an MQTT broker (because I saw errors in the Z-Wave JS log console) - all the wrong rabbit holes...
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, I've been trying for a week to get my Z Wave stick talking to my home assistant instance, this is the first guid that actually worked for me and gave me enough detail to understand the USB device passthrough!
Glad I could help
thank you from Spain, WONDERFULL!
Helped a bunch! thank you!
Super video. A small request - a guide to implement mealie into HomeAssistant and how to setup the API so one can show todays meals, weekly plan and recipes :)
Great! fastest guide ever :)
Super helpful and easy to understand. Thank you.
Finally. Zwave keeps getting overlooked in the world of cheap Tuya things...
THANKS!
Excellent video, I will definitely have to go over your configuration file and compare it with mine. Isn't it required to disable the mqtt setting before enabling the web hook option?
In my setup the MQTT setting wasn't enabled by default, so I didn't need to disable it.
Thanks!
That's so amazing! Thank you so much for your support 🙏
What if my HA is running in Docker on a Synology NAS (DS218+)? Do you have a guide to the extra steps needed to re-invoke USB support in DSM7? Seems like a PITA. And are there any reliable HA-compatible USB sticks these days that will do BOTH ZWave and Zigbee?
Thanks for your help, but how can I access WS Server from remote? It seams the tcp 3000 port is accessible only from localhost. If homeassisten is remotly dosent works
Any guidance on setting up a single door lock with keymaster? I am trying to replace my SmartThings with HS and the missing piece is how I can get push notifications to my phone every time a specific door code unlocks my front door.
Thanks for your help, you explained the passthrough so much better than the official guide!! Why does the guide use --rm? I didn't catch it the first time and lost my USB stick after a restart
I have no idea, that makes little sense to me.
Hey Awesome video! I noticed zwavejs2mqtt seems to be re-branded to zwave-js-ui. Does that mean that my image instead of being zwavejs/zwavejs2mqtt:latest will be zwavejs/zwave-js-ui:latest ?
i have same thoughts too. is this out of date or it is just name change ? did you find way ?
Curious about the docker setup... Could you install supervisor on docker and then just use the same zwave js addon when using docker and the HA container version with supervisor ?
Reason I'm asking is I setup Hass OS but I can't use hardware acceleration on my thin client running hass OS because I guess I need Radeon drivers. I was told that switching to docker was the only way to do that. I have no reason to want to do that right now other than hardware acceleration for frigate.. So if you know a better way or if I can do docker with supervisor that would be helpful since I'm used to it.
You can do that, but it's not an officially supported configuration
Hi have problem with dongle I bought 3 Silabs SLUSB7000A / SLUSB001A, one for my colleague, and he's update to latest version, 7,19,2 or something like that. After that, his dongle not detect any devices.
The same happen to me, but after I install Z-Wave JS UI (its new name for mqtt) I change region to Europe, cuz I'm in Europe, dongle start detecting Z-Wave devices. But I have basic firmware FW: v7.11.0 I don't make any update, my colleague has new one. So like u know I want to make flash, so what u suggest? Use HA to update Dongle, or some software? Can u tell me how u do it for your self?
With the current version of ubuntu server you can no longer find the USB device using "ls -l /dev/serial/by-id", does anyone know how to find the device today? Using the /dev/ttyACM0 doesn't work (like you say in the video) but I don't know how to do it any other way anymore 😞. Any help would be really appreciated.
Im trying to make a simislr setup with Windows becuse I want to use Blue Iris, but how do I pass the usb device to the docker container? Its not linux so no tty
@home automation guy thank you for the video. Could you please make a video integrating fitbit to home assistant. I know documentation is available for integration but if I am guy who can read documentation and do stuff I wont be the guy who is watching the videos I will be the one making videos. And I have checked youtube and none has covered fitbit integration so far so that might another usp for your next video to help out the fitbit community HA users.
Good introduction for installing Z - wave.JS, but doesn’t go into using ZN wave devices in any type of advanced way taking advantage of what Z wave provides. Instead, the emphasis is what you can do with Home Assistant using the Z wave controller.
That is correct
Why use the service instead of just device, device turn on? Same thing for the trigger. Select the device and the trigger from the device, like "Motion Sensor ias_zone started detecting motion". Doesn't require the state From and To. I guess that would provide more granular control for some situations, but if you don't need it, it seems like added complexity.
Not all the devices I have support those types of actions and triggers, so I just got used to doing it this way.
Nothing wrong with your approach though, I can see how mine adds extra complexity!
It worked fine, but when I reboot my Raspberry Pi, the zwavejs2mqtt just stopped working, and it can't start/restart from the Porainer interface. So I tried to run 'docker-compose up -d', and it shows '' '/dev/serial/by-id/.......' no such file or directory". Could anyone help me with this, please?
I've been having the same problem recently, and I have sadly not found a solution yet :(
awesome, now make same without addons for rest of us :P
I cover both Docker and Add-on in the video
@@HomeAutomationGuy sorry, i watched so many videos... Great Job!
They've changed HA. No more addons. Any help?
There are still add-ons...?
Z-Wave JS WS Server dosen't works on RASPBERRI PI
Una auténtica mierda la integración de Zwave con HA. Con un AEOTEC gen7 el alcance del 5 metros. Lo he probado con enchufes FIBARO.
For me, I had to install add-on too.
zeeeeeeeeeeeee way
