for me the gateway drug to anko was some mochi found at World Market (still have not found a good source of Taiyaki around me.) its a nice sweet but not too sweet treat

@@PaolofromTOKYO honestly I've tried to watch other day in the life or behind the counter videos. Nobody comes close to you with the editing and being able to captive and hold the attention from your audience. Thank you so much for such great videos!
So glad you finally did one of these at a taiyaki shop. I just opened a Taiyaki food truck in the US and really want to go back to Japan and get some hands on experience at a few different taiyaki shops. This was really cool to see 🙂
Im really impressed how japanese people are so proud of whatever they do, even when you are just making a dessert basically... i wish more people was like this in the world.
Japan isn't perfect. But the importance they put on tradition, honor, and community is what makes this possible. They make it a point to try to pass these techniques down. And the community respects and supports the skill and craftsmanship.
I tried a custard one for the first time a few weeks ago while visiting and instantly regretted not having one everyday of my trip. I'll be sure to visit this place next year when I'm back!
I love your videos Paolo keep them coming. I also love when you take Wolfie to places like the hotels. I have an autistic son and he loves watching Wolfie play and laugh. Makes him smile so much. Thank you for that.

Amazing work as always. Could you perhaps, make a behind the scenes of your videos? I love to see how you do it. I have a lot of questions, for example, are you alone when doing these or do you have a cameraman and such? Are the day in a life of series a recreation of their routin or did you actually put cameras in someone's home to capture the day easier? And a lot more.
ありがとうございます Paolo さん your videos are so interesting and really help me learn Japanese ! It's great how you ask the questions in English the let the people respond in Japanese that little bit of help with context is just enough for me to be prepared for the snswer and understand the Japanese (or at least some of it 😂).
When I visit Japan I go to this place because the batter they prepare is vegan and from my experience that's unusual. Great place to visit, and great video!
Thank you for sharing this awesome video. I loved seeing and learning about all the behind the scenes work to prepare this Japanese treat. I’m also interested in the employee’s matcha red bean drink!
Paolo...have you ever hosted a Food Tour thru Japan...that would be awesome for people wanting to visit and who are foodies but dont know where to even start.
Will definitely have to try this when we plan to visit Tokyo next year! Several other things I want to try as well, that I didn’t get a chance to the last time I was there back in 2016.

I could tell from buying taiyaki from the shops in Tenjinbashi that these people work hard, especially during the busy hours! Sometimes people are waiting 15 minutes for this stuff, so of course such hardworking people probably got up so early in the morning! Thanks for covering! I also tried a similar street snack in Osaka called “御座候”. That pancake was round instead of fish shaped. Have you heard of it?
I was in Tokyo in late May and of course I stopped by Tayaki Sharaku, from one of your old videos. The elderly owners were really lovely and their tayaki were as crispy and tasty as you said! 😊😊😊
Amazing to see Paolo at this shop, we were there a couple months ago during our trip to Japan! The original Tayaki is vegan which was great!! Really recommend it!!
Not trying to argue with you, as I never had this. But how much more vegan does it need to be? The batter is just flour, water, & whatever else. The filling is just red beans. I don't see any animal parts in the video.
@@Vagabond_Etranger I mentioned that this Tayaki IS vegan, I said “original” because they seem to have variations there which might not be, like the ones with cream cheese, but their regular / original one is indeed vegan.
