My goodness! What a lot of effort went into this post! You’re my favorite sewing blogger - so enthusiastic and inspiring. Thank you for working so hard for us.
Thanks for braving the shops so that we don't have to, Kate! I'm not interested in slavishly following trends, but I love how these videos keep me in touch with what's going on out there. I'm sure they are a huge amount of work, but they are brilliant, so please keep them coming.
I'm so glad! What's great is we are seeing lots of these pieces coming back season after season so there is plenty of longevity in most of these items!
I look forward to these videos so much. You introduce me to indie designers I've never heard of and force me to take a second look at other patterns I might've overlooked. Thank you.
As per usual: LOVE it. Thanks for the option of a G&T vs a coffee. It is 730AM so I chose the coffee option! 😂 I can imagine how much work all these videos are Kate. Like many other comments, these videos are so inspiring! XO
Thanks for this Kate. Great snapshot of trends as usual. I particularly like the side by side images of the trends and the patterns. It helps me to focus and pick the details that I want to add to my garments and leave or tweak the details that don't suit me. The spring colours in the shops are too muted for my taste but that is why we sew. Yet another deep dive into my fabric/pattern collection is required!
Thank you I’m glad you liked it as it’s a new format I shall continue on 👊🏻 Yes I was surprised about the muted colors but as you say that’s the joy of sewing. Happy stash shopping 🛍️
Sew The Trends are my absolute favourite! Thanks for all the work that goes into this. I'm in Australia, so I can see what's coming up but also plan half a year ahead. Maybe if I start my sewing plans now I might have something to wear for Spring. So helpful! Thank you again! ❤
My absolute favorite vid of each season!!!!! I LOVE the shopping vids, seeing the stores/high street, the images of samples of what is substantial similar to what you've found, and then the pattern pics. So much work, and truly, truly appreciated. Thank you so much for these quarterly gems!!!!❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness, those trench coats. I had a coat in the 1980s that would be bang on trend now. Wish I hadn’t given it away to a charity shop! My grandmother used to sat ‘the wheel of fashion turns’, she was so right.
I purchased, when it was released, the McCall's cargo pattern you featured. More sophisticated, I feel, than it has ever looked. I'm over 55, but wear what makes me feel comfortable. Being a mom of teens I am still asked, Can you please carry this for me, mom? so I treasure more pockets 😊. Thank you for your videos!
Thanks Kate, for your very detailed look at the trends and corresponding patterns. I’ve been there before for quite a few of these trends!! Most likely to pass on most but love the tailored trousers still making a comeback.
Great episode. Watching from Canada 🇨🇦. I’m new to your RUclips videos. I just came back from the south of Spain on Good Friday. I browsed in the fashion shops there. I remarked how bright and vibrant the colours were this season. Yes, there were plenty of neutral colors, but also many vibrant colours. On the streets, I saw that tailored jacket were VERY popular with well dressed women of all ages. Generally, Spanish women dress very well in mostly very classic styles and shapes. I didn’t see many oversized, baggy clothes, which I happen to detest.
I love these videos, thanks so much Kate :) so much inspiration!🤗 For the assymetrical mini skirt the agave skirt from deer and doe came immediately to my mind. Have a nice weekend 😊
Enjoyed the shopping trip. A common sense word, don't follow the trends slavishly some styles simply come and bite you in the backside later on. Old photos will tell you straightaway. Birdy
Denim with denim is actually called The Canadian Tuxedo. These fashions seem so 70's, 80's, so much like my generation wore back then. It's so true what goes around comes around again.
So many good pattern suggestions! It was just a question of time before the cargo pants made their comeback with all the 90s fashion things being back, and I find myself a little drawn to make a pair - even though I wore them in the 90s :D . I am surprising myself here..
@@TheFoldLine Yay! Let’s do it! I mean.. this time around they will definitly NOT be worn with a cropped tank top, but if memory serves, cargo pants are super comfortable. 😄
I am reworking a waistcoat of my late husband's into a double-breasted waistcoat for me (it is made from wonderful woven fabric we got when we were in Edinburgh at grade school back in the day). I was wondering if you could recommend some waistcoat patterns that could help with a makeover and/or be fun to sew. I'm 72, so I'm not worried about trends, but that would also be interesting to see if there are more modern versions for a future sew-from-scratch project. :-)
This sounds like a really lovely project. Have you checked out the Miller from Merchant and Mills. It’s nice a sit had a lot of the same features as a traditional men’s waistcoat. So thought this could work well and gives a nod to your husband. I’m really sorry for your loss. thefoldline.com/product/merchant-mills-the-miller-waistcoat/
Thank you for this video and all the work you have put into it Kate. Being in Australia and the southern hemisphere it’s good to know what’s coming for us next spring. I must also go back and watch your Autumn/Winter video from last year to sew for our upcoming cold(ish) winter.
This was just sooooo good! I thought the pattern finds were excellent and I really appreciate the couple options depending on sewing expertise. Really good, really inspiring!
Love your round up vids. So helpful to me in narrowing down to "what I might actually do" from all the amazing possibilities ... Though I am sitting on a pile of prints, so will have to think that one through! 😃👍❤️
Love, love, love the trends videos. Also love the actual trends - things I want to sew and wear! Could you please provide max chest/hip measurements for the patterns you recommend? It can be a real disappointment to find they won't work for me.
Thanks for your thoughts on this I don’t do that at the moment because the are so many patterns and so much info to remember that I really struggle. I’ll try and think about how I could do it
Really enjoyed this video! I have my eye on the Hovea jacket, the Myka top, the Kara Trench coat, and the Mcalls cargo trousers (I love that 90s fashion is back - makes me very nostalgic for being a teenager). I've promised myself no new patterns at the moment ,as I have multiple unfinished projects - does anyone else struggle with the not quite finishing - I have several that are 80 or 90% there - so frustrated at myself!
PS I'd love you to see a video where you recommend only patterns that have free video tutorials - I seem to do so much better with projects that hold your hand through the video, rather that written instructions, not sure why.
Also my favorite video of the season! I love these!! Could we send you to Paris to do one? Maybe a Go Fund Me? Thanks for doing it, Kate - from Sue in DC
No one needs to apologize for a 22 minute video. I prefer to watch videos that are between about 20 minutes and 60 minutes. I am usually doing something while I watch youtube and looking for a new video every ten minutes isn't worth it.
Attention Everyone! The rumour of the next 007 will be a woman has been confirmed! A real-life spy will be taking the role ... yes ... she just gave us a clue ?!?! 007's new aperitif of choice 😮 Yes it's KATE with her GnT😂😁😀😆🤣🤣🤣🤣 Luv you Kate❤ Best fashion "spy" ever😁😁😁💕
LOL….I’m in Texas and we call it a Canadian Tuxedo.
Ahh thank you for correcting me 😂😂😂
LOL! It's raining...not really feeling like Spring. But there are lovely flowers. i.e., "I've got flowers, damn it! It shall be Spring!" Am I right? 🤣
You are right!! 😂
My goodness! What a lot of effort went into this post! You’re my favorite sewing blogger - so enthusiastic and inspiring. Thank you for working so hard for us.

😂😂😂 as my mums says it’s 12 o’clock somewhere!
Thank you very much for the update. Adding the fabrication trends is helpful. I enjoy your delivery style and sense of humor. Be at Peace my friend. 🙂
I love the cargo pants and never stopped wearing them😆I will definitely be making a pair or two.
Fabulous!

Thanks so much for these videos- they are a bit of an anchor for me since last year and losing my Mum. Yet to make anything - but have a long list!!
It’s getting the nerve to start, I get that. Just give yourself some time, I’m really sorry about your mum. It’s really hard losing a parent ❤️
@@TheFoldLine thankyou. I will make a pattern decision and go for it. The focus will be good.
Sorry for your loss Sue. I lost my mum late last year and it hurts. Thank goodness for the solace of sewing. Take care
Love your channel and look forward to these videos every weekend morning with my coffee! Thank you, Thank you!!!!!
Crikey, that was a brilliant round up for spring Kate, perfect watching with my morning cuppa!
Thank you for sharing the latest trends I really appreciate you taking the time to do this, lots of ideas.
So pleased 😀
Denim on denim is a Canadian Tuxedo :)
Thank you for pulling this together. It's such a delight to watch as I drink my tea and wait for another 10 cm of wet snow... Really good inspiration!
😂😂 wow I shouldn’t be complaining about a bit of rain
Sew The Trends are my absolute favourite! Thanks for all the work that goes into this. I'm in Australia, so I can see what's coming up but also plan half a year ahead. Maybe if I start my sewing plans now I might have something to wear for Spring. So helpful! Thank you again! ❤
Kate you are the best. Always so pleasantly chipper, helpful and informative!
Glad you think so!

I know.. my cargo pants from the 90s would be perfect now 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Thank you Kate ! Always appreciated that you get out there in the rain and find the Trends !
Thank you, Kate, lots of fab suggestions, as ever, and an excellent impression of what's going to be around this Spring 🌻🌷
Love these. Living in a fashion desert, it’s always uplifting to see what’s up in the city.
Thank you so much - brilliant inspiration 💕💕😊
I'd also love to see some men's or unisex patterns in these kinds of videos :D
I purchased, when it was released, the McCall's cargo pattern you featured. More sophisticated, I feel, than it has ever looked. I'm over 55, but wear what makes me feel comfortable. Being a mom of teens I am still asked, Can you please carry this for me, mom? so I treasure more pockets 😊. Thank you for your videos!
They are way chicer! Pockets are definitely handy when you have to carry all your kids things!
Thank you for all your hard work with this! I particularly liked the options of the more complex v less involved patterns.
I love these videos. It shows how fashion forward sewing patterns are!
Well done, that was great, thank you x
Thanks Kate, for your very detailed look at the trends and corresponding patterns. I’ve been there before for quite a few of these trends!! Most likely to pass on most but love the tailored trousers still making a comeback.
Glad it was helpful!
Great ideas there Kate, thanks x
Another superb roundup, thanks Kate!
Great video. In Canada we're seeing a lot of emerald green in the stores. Thanks sew much for another excellent video.
I've seen a lot of jewel colours here too. Some of the pics did show a few colours too so glad there's a bit of colour out there still!
It's a great shade if you want to add a pop of colour to your wardrobe as it feels both classic and modern all at the same time!
What a great round up, thank you
Lot's of pink and yellow 😮
Fabulous update! BTW, here we've always called the head to toe denim outfit a Canadian Tuxedo. LOL
Wow what a summary! I have several of the patterns so I’m on the way, but fancy the denim skirt idea. Thank you x
Excellent it’s always nice to shop your stash 👊🏻
This video concept is my absolute favorite! Great job, as always.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thankyou for all the research that you do Kate, WOW amazing.
I love love love your videos! Thanks so much for all the effort! And now I want to sew ALL THE TRENDS 😭
You can 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Always love your videos ❣️
Absolutely love this series! Thanks so much for all the research work that goes into it

Ohh yes that’s another great option 👊🏻👊🏻
Stayed till the end as always. Love your Saturday morning roundups. Pacey, useful, inspirational!!

Another brilliant seasonal trend update, thank you!

Lol. Texas Tux sounds better.
Fab, had a wee cackle at Holy...? Holey? ...had to check but, yes, holey is a word xx
😂😂😂 I didn’t check but thank you for clarifying!
This was fantastic Kate…so well put together! So😊 many ideas…thank you!
Oooh, a crochet beauty at 4:10 ..
As a Texan, I’m slightly offended😂, but I love this channel.
Someone commented that it's really called a "Canadian Tuxedo" but I think TT sounds way, way better. 😊
As a fellow Texan, I, too, was amusingly offended😂😂.
Guys I have been corrected it’s a Canadian Tuxedo 🤷🏻♀️😂🤦🏻♀️
Thank you! I love your videos, especially Sew the Trends. I found a perfect small floral rayon to make the Named Taika dress.
Ohh that sounds perfect 🤌🏻
So many good pattern suggestions! It was just a question of time before the cargo pants made their comeback with all the 90s fashion things being back, and I find myself a little drawn to make a pair - even though I wore them in the 90s :D . I am surprising myself here..

@@TheFoldLine Yay! Let’s do it! I mean.. this time around they will definitly NOT be worn with a cropped tank top, but if memory serves, cargo pants are super comfortable. 😄
Same, I think I'm going to give the Mcalls version a go - if I end up not sure about them, they should be fine for walking the dog :)
That was a great video, thank you. I just stumbled across your channel in a RUclips rabbit hole 😂 but so many new to me pattern companies mentioned.
The Taika dress! I’ve only got to finish the hem!
Exciting stuff!!
Fabulous video. I so enjoy them! Thank you❤️
Thank you!!!!

Super recommendations! Thank you so!
You are so welcome!

A great whizz through the trends. I am bucking the trend and sewing patterned fabrics. All those muted colours make me look like death
Go for it 👊🏻
Me too!
What about the shear fabric T-shirts. I love the look! Where’s the fabric? Help!
The t-shirts I mentioned at the end would work in a sheer fabric… where you’d get that fabric I don’t know 🤷🏻♀️
