This was my first day visiting 4 new crossings in Santa Ana: Grand Ave., Lyon st.,E Mcfadden & Ritchey st.
A pretty Mediocre Horn day in my opinion, and to my knowlage, all these crossings will be Quiet Zones soon.
Train #1 - (4th Street) Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #572, with P42DC #86 leading. Solid K5LA, but unfortunatly the only blasts were from leaving the station, and at the chestnut crossing just south of me. And as far as i know - To this date, 4 street is not a quiet zone... There were not any "no train horn' signs either. I was expecting horn. Oh well...
1:42) Train #2 - (Lyon st.) Amtrak #573 with 6 Amfleet cars, and F40PH #90230 leading with nice horn action.
2:58) Train #3 - (Ritchey st.) Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #777, with cabcar #6906 leading.
3:20) Train #4 - (Ritchey st.) Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #774 running about 44 minutes late, with F59PHI #453 in the lead with nice K5LA Action !!
5:20) Train #5 - (Grand ave.) Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #579, with cabcar #6951 displaying LOUD horn action !!! F59PHI #461 following.
6:46) Train #6 - (E Mcfadden ave.) Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #580, with F59PHI #463 leading with very poor horn action, and F59PHI #464 following.
7:54) Train #7 - (Lyon st.) Amtrak #582 with 6 Amfleet cars, and P42DC #83 leading. This unit has a lousy K5L, but showed as good of a horn display as it probably could have.. F40PH #90230 following.
10:03) Train #8 - (Ritchey st.) Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #784, with F59PHI #457 leading with good horn action! Авто/Мото
All these crossings are bound to go quiet soon. Idk why the first train didn't use the horn...
First train did
Second crossing the train used its horn
First train
Awesome! The first catch is probably my favourite.
I like trains with Santa Ana is was so cool
The engineer on 86 must have been reaching down to get a dropped paper, I didn't see his head when he passed, he must have been distracted, anyway, nice video! Great shots!
SoCalRailfan ,
Train #2 is the same train with train #7
Nicely taken
I just saw the pdf for quiet zones so far it says mcfadden isnt planned or the others
At 7:22 you can hear two guys saying get off the road
What?
I did
My Favorite Cabcar 6906 And F59phi 451 Horn Show

Is that area a quiet zone now? i noticed the p42 didnt use his horn.
8:49 great K5L!
Question: Do some engineers not give a crap whether a quiet zone or not, and blow anyway?
(on this line)
I think it's illegal to blow in a quiet zone unless one ditch light isn't working
@@danielpyxlcool1294 unless both ditch lights are out, there's track work, or a danger to the crews and others, then the engineers should abide by the QZ rules. It's always fun to get some who break them though.
Nice video dude! Weird how 86 screwed you with the horn for that crossing, it has a solid-ass hybrid horn! Engineer in 463 on 580 sucked it up! Barely blew it! And 83 replaced 118 on the fleets? Bad trade-off!
What location it is?
@spencerhughes2255 did you ever have a good camera that was $420?
In Europe, the barriers at railroad crossings are lowered much earlier than in the US - I consider it a big plus for your railways. Passenger trains in Europe are much longer and freight trains shorter than yours. Cool and interesting video, greetings from 🇵🇱 🇪🇺
same im from france the gates go down so early but there are some taht go down like literally 3 secs before the train arives at the crossing!
@ Surfliner462 By standing super close he gets better shots of the train. I still agree though with you 100%.
I ride the metrolink from Santa Ana all the time :D
What a awesome horn 📢 on the last train he filmed while it was sunset 🌅 :-)
This could be my favorite video. ;-) 👌

I thrk the amtrak 1605
He's not too close. He's fine.. The camera just makes it look that way. Everything is a little zoomed in.. And he has his shit on a tripod... He could be standing off to the side of it...
