- On famed quiz show The Chase, Anne Hegerty is all the things you’d expect from her English Governess alter-ego. Formidable, stern and for the wannabe quizzers who come up against her, perhaps a tad scary. But little about the real Anne Hegerty is quite as conventional. Watch the full interview with Anne and 7NEWS Spotlight reporter Sarah Greenhalgh.

The World is a much lovelier place with Anne Heggarty in it, that's for sure. 🌹
That is so true
Beautiful thought, very true.
I love Anne Heggarty. She’s beautiful, funny, & very smart.
We the world love you from Adelaide South Australia thanks for you
Anne Hegerty, my favourite Chaser. A true legend.
What a genuine, beautifully humble woman. I actually cried when she was telling the story of how her aunt Jill treated her without dignity when her mother was dying. Poor Anne. I can relate to how she was treated, for sure. Well done to her for the big FU to those that mistreated her!!!
Special lady...am I looking in a mirror...?. Ur a legend ...I am a visual learner, still unrecognised..visual precision is key..smokescreened with humour..
What a wonderful Lady The Governess, you are a kind hearted fantastic Lady. You are more that enough xxxxxx
Never underestimate the scary people.. because.. when you actually get to know them..they are the most honest and sincere true friends to have..
Totally get what Anne is talking about, exactly the same happened to me. I have found you are lonelier in company than on your own. What a wonderful lady Anne is.
Me too 🎉
Amazing strength and courage. I wish her well.
👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯❤
Ann is a lovely kind person and deserves everything good ❤
Their loss, we all love you as you are!
👍👍👍💯💯💯💯❤
Ann is a legend
This story was very interesting. I have seen Anne on the Chase and love her character. You never know what a person has been through. My son is 34, and from he was little it was obvious he was different. He was bullied at school for being quiet and not joining in very much. It was only later that it was realised that he was on the Autism spectrum. He is very good with figures and he has an amazing ability for memorizing things. He doesnt always see things the way others do. Well done Anne for all you have achieved.
Anne is an amazing woman, and very honest about herself
What an awesome woman she is despite her life experienes. Loved seeing this.
I spent 25 years working in schools with autistic children. Their perception of the world around us is unique, and I have learned so very much about life from these wonderful children. I am happy to say that nowadays early diagnosis leads to an understanding of the way they move though this world. I have the UTMOST respect for this wonderful woman.
Yes, yes and yes, again.
Thank you for learning from autistic people, and your openness to understanding the world from an autstic perspective. Too often I see people in your line of work push their own view of autism, often times speaking over people who are actually autistic themselves. I am autistic and I have incredible respect for people like you who support us. ❤️
Loved watching her on Chase.
Absolutely loved her interview. ❤😊
That was a very nice story thank you. Ann’s story made me weep a wee bit. Love, love, love the governess. She is one of my favourites. Go Ann. 👍👏👏🙏
Much love to you Anne. You are amazing!
The Aussie girl reporter was fantastic...brought out a delightful side of the Governess...my fave Chaser. This was a super watch. Thank you.
fantastic person. Thank you Anne for who you are pleased don't change
Thank you Anne for turning the light on. You are an inspiration to so many. Love watching you.
How very sad that you grew up with such sadness and feeling unwanted Ann. I would love to meet you some day! Always remember you are an amazing lady!!!!💕
What a lovely Lady❤
Anne Hegerty, thank you for sharing your story with us. Warts and all. I'm appalled by the way you were treated by family, and how it still affects you to this day.
But you are so strong. You have a place in thus world now, and it seems you are enjoying it and doing a great job.
Your persona, "The Hoverness" really made me freeze when I first saw you. This is mainly because you reminded me so much of my High School Head Teacher.
This was such a fantastic interview! Wonderful to get to know you more Anne!💝💝💝
Anne makes me proud. ❤ She’s overcome so much to become the superstar success she is today and I wish her all the luck and love in the world. ❤️❤️. ☘️☘️☘️🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️💋
That ending was pure Gold
Hi, I’m 17 and I have autism and honestly she explained my brain. I can’t tell you how comforting that is thank you 🥺
Please read STOP AUTISM NOW by Dr Bruce Fife
@@jangrime3070 What is it about?
@@Zanderrenand mine as well. We're both autistic like Anne is
What a great short documentary, Anne has been one of my favourites on the Chase since it started and she still is. I have grandkids with Autism and it was difficult to understand at first, but our desire to understand it, and them, together with our unconditional love and support, we've got there and so have they thankfully. Love and understanding is really all anyone needs in life and I sincerely hope Anne finds it.
We all love Ann.❤❤
Love love love Anne. She's not only quick with quiz answers but she has a sharp and fast sense of humor. Thank you Anne for helping me understand my son better with your description of how Autism affects your life and how you deal with it. You've done brilliantly in life, well done. Love from Australia. Your welcome here any time.
Having a label can be a hindrence, or a comfort to finally have a reason for those past occurences. Define it and move on.
Thank you Anne for being You!
"Unpersoned" sounds as horrible as it must have felt. What a great story of triumph and success. What a way to overcome and live❤❤❤
Yes yes We used ro talkabout” being depersonalised”. It Was a horrible experience! Anne Hegerty’s word
UNPERSONED
Is much better. Punchier! Abd yes it was a great story @littlerubiesdaycare
Anne, my childhood was a bit up and down, but as an adult you can look back on how things were in the old abacus days. Mothers were never given support for mental illnesses, they just had to struggle on. Love your quip about writing to the elderly. I'm 4 years older than you, so do I go on the list of better not write back to her?😂😂
Nothing worse than family dehumanizing another member due to lack of love and understanding. Because of this Anne went from being the weakest link to the strongest link in the chain. ❤️
She herself dehumanized "old white men" in this very video.
@@valleyshrew Hurt people don't go around hurting others. Only a bully does that.
@@valleyshrew Where? Lol.
Anne is my favourite, she come across as a really nice person.❤
What a sad story with a beautiful outcome. I was diagnosed later in life with autism too and felt the same as her. Always felt out of place and wondered why I struggled so much emotionally through my teenage years. So glad to see that she seems to have found a peace in her older years. Blessings to her moving forward!
She’s comes across as such a nice person. I’d love to go for a glass of wine with her. She’s great
Thank you for this. Most enlightening. So glad she is doing so well now

What a lovely Lady 🥰
Anne is definitely the best of the Chasers. The world needs all sorts and conditions of people.
As someone with Hearing impairment and Speech impediment..and stuttering..i was abused as a child..i lost my hearing through the many beatings by my mother and other people who beat me..i was diagnosed as the child who didnt want to learn..so was shoved to the back of the class room..i finally got hearing aids when I was in my 20's..and therapy for my Speech..im still recovering from the abuseof the past..im now 64..i disowned my own family..at the age of 47 years old. When i lost my eldest daughter to Lupus...My children are my Rock..who have helped me get through the hard times...My story is a long One..but i am a Survivor.. right now I am facing surgery for grade 1/2 cancer in my left breast. Its Scary but it is caught early..my lympnodes are not involved..
❤❤❤
You are so loved Anne. My favourite Chaser and you were brilliant in the Jungle. You are a great example of strength and Fortitude. Labels are just that. They bear no relevance to who we truly are. I love you for being yourself. 🏴

Anne H is absolutely fabulous - always glad when she appears on The Chase. She pitches the Governess persona perfectly. Huge admiration for he range of knowledge and h the way she presents herself on each show.
I was diagnosed with Aspergers aged 7. I can relate to Anne in so many ways.
Love her. Wish she was part of our family. World short of people like her.
Surely partly based on Miss Trunchbull from the film Matida.
I can't help thinking she would grab supernerd by the ear and lock him in the Chokie

Fantastic interview. Good to listen to Anne. My favourite chaser.
Great interview! Such a lovely woman, we all need an Anne in our life the world would be a much better place 😊
I ❤ Anne!!!
She top class genuine person
I like her a lot
I was diagnosed with being on the autism spectrum in my late 40s. The most rewarding thing about having such knowledge, I can now understand why I must force myself to do things that might come naturally for others: i.e., making eye contact and feeling uncomfortable walking into a room full of people.❤
