  • Tuam, a name that traumatised the whole of Ireland in the spring of 2014, when an unimaginable story was revealed. A hidden mass grave containing the remains of some 800 children was discovered on the former grounds of a home for single mothers, a hell on earth where children died from ill treatment, and were shamefully buried in secret and forgotten.

      Nuns are some of the most evil minded and sociopathic women that are on this earth breathing the same air as us. When they leave convents they are like tigers out of a cage, alcoholism, drug abuse and addiction,they become sexually active worse than prostitutes get sexually diseases spread them such as Hepatitis C, gonorreah,syphalis and so on. They destroyed other people in the church and out of the church. This subject has happened to someone in our family and she was an ex nun called a bride of Christ, this person’s life was completely destroyed, yes you can say it takes two to tango, in this case she knew about her sexual disease and didn’t care who she destroyed. I did have a chance to ask her why would you do this to another human being her answer to me was I missed out a lot when I did time in the convent, it’s my life and I will do what pleases me. I told anyone who sleeps with the devil will burn in hell. I cannot write the words down to what I said to her. Every time I see articles like this What thousands of years created this church to become. The innocent and persons who cannot have a voice in this church never had a leg to stand on. The devil lives off the hog here always has.

    I lived in a convent from age 8 - 11 yrs. Some of the nuns were violent. I remember seeing a boy in the freezing cold with short trousers being thrashed on the thighs with a cane just out of the blue. Another one we had to watch being leathered by a heavy strap on his back for running away. They taught us about Mary, the saints, the rosary, communion but hardly nothing about Christ and certainly no scripture. I was given a scapula and was told if I wore it all my life I would go to heaven. I didn't know Jesus then. It was just religion religion relgion and superstition. Fortunately I came to Christ at aged 27 yrs and I was saved from the fear of Catholicism. Jesus is wonderful and has healed me from my childhood. I thank God for my life now and know that I belong to Him.

That was the first thing I learned in grade 1. Did you not learn any cathechism either? We were also taught self discipline and to read and write in 2 languages. You needed 60% to pass. Then went to public school to grade 13 where you only needed 50% to pass. And they sure as hell never even prayed or talked about Jesus there.

      Actually, the people really responsible were those who created a society where people were demonised. It's no different really than the people who looked the other way when jews were demonised in Hitler's Germany and in many countries besides. Absolutely true that fathers should be there for the upbringing of children they've created - that's morally right - but none of these people were criminals. They were just human. It's the cruel system, promoted by religious " fascists " and swallowed up by a brainwashed society that are to blame for how these mothers were treated and the evil EVIL treatment meted out to children who were as innocent as any child is. To think that a government of a country which had fought for its independence not that long before ( and loved to sing songs of how they fought against cruelty ) should uphold this evil and a church - supposedly there to lead people to God - would set the stage for what was at the back of it is just ghastly. I wonder what Jesus would say about it all. I hope that the truth these surviving people are asking for does come to light in their lifetimes. God bless all those affected and forgive all those responsible.

      The Tuam claims are largely false seeking to attack the Catholic Church. The mass grave is a false claim -- just like the false claims relating to mass graves in Canada at residential schools. The sisters cared for the young women and children who were shunned by their families and in too many cases the young women were victims of incest or other abuse. A historian researched the archival records relating to this facility and the inspectors who conducted unannounced inspections found the facilities well run, clean and with the young women well cared for and in good spirits. Watch the interview by Gemma O'Doherty (an award winning Irish investigative journalist) of this historian who sets the record straight.

    Heartbreaking. Huge credit and thanks to those who have worked so hard to bring this to light. Above all else I would say Dev bears a great deal of blame for this situation arising. The Church was given too great a role in the new state formed a century ago. Dev spent his time fulminating against the Treaty and obsessing on rubbish like the Oath. A great pity he did not spend more time enquiring into how the poorest and most vulnerable of his people were living.

If surviving an infancy without their mothers milk and the special one on one care she'd have given them. Only to face years in an institutional setting of unloving care and brutality by the tired nuns. What calling is this? What scripture was referenced? To justify the stealing of a child born out of wedlock or the shaming of them? Was Jesus taken from Mary or shamed for her unmarried pregnancy? What was put away back then that Joseph considered, then was faced with an Angel himself? And what of these little ones of His, our Father in Heaven, are not these little ones His as well?

    Yes indeed. The Catholic Church in Ireland has a very dark history. How could ‘religious’ people be so cruel and mean to both
    the mothers & children; mothers who may have been abused or ignorant about the facts of life and children who were innocent
    of any wrongdoing. The Church was all powerful and there was a great deal of fear, that was part of it. Let’s face it many, many
    of the perpetrators were not Christian in their demeanour and behaviour. Nothing ‘Christ like’ about these creatures. I hope
    Ireland learns from this and puts this Catholic Church in its place and faces up loud & clear to wrongdoing.

    This happened in every country where Catholics ran schools. In Canada the rcs operated residential schools. It has been reported that 8000 kids have died in these schools and that old fossil in rome refuses to apologize for thecrimes they have commited.

    The Mother & Baby Home in Tuam isn't the only convent that hides mass graves.... The Irish government PAID the convents for "looking after" the poor female prisoners & their children. When a "good Roman Catholic couple" were found, usually in America & boy they were charged heavy amounts for a child! The laundry of "The Good Shepherd, Waterside, Derry, was a horrible prison. My Uncle saw a woman, obviously near the time of her delivery, along with others on their knees, cutting the huge lawns with....small scissors. The supervising nuns beat them with "Cats O Nine Tails" (whips with many leather straps which were embedded with iron studs) if they didn't think they were working hard enough.... He got in immediately, knocked on the door & was refused entrance to speak to the mother superior I refuse to capitalise her so-called title). He told her that, if she didn't stop this cruelty immediately, he'd speak to reporters in "The Derry Journal" about it! That changed her tune... I also was boarded in a Dominican convent, at the top of Lime ST., Liverpool (England) for a month, while I attended the hospital there. I befriended 2 nuns. One had dementia & the other told me she was miserable there but couldn't get out. The latter was sent, permanently to the "Mother House" for the Dominican order, as she also wanted to be allowed to read the bible. The latter, older nun & I strolled around the ground at sunset every night together. One day she stopped in a corner of the vast gardens which I always steered her away from as being there troubled her so much. In a brief instance of lucidity, she whispered to me that "This is where we buried the babies &, God help them, they were innocents...". So the Roman Catholis church not only covers for paedophiles but also the victims of cruelty.

    This documentary doesn’t address key questions - how many girls were there giving birth? I imagine many were in poor health to begin with and 800 over 40 years is 800 chikdren who died over 480 months or under 2 a month - I don’t know how uncommon that would be esp if there were large numbers of poor malnourished women giving birth.

    • @miapdx503
      @miapdx503 Месяц назад +8

      And how many were young, powerless, poor...not having created a situation but still being punished for it.

    • @verenamaharajah6082
      @verenamaharajah6082 Месяц назад +8

      The difference is they were DELIBERATELY malnourished and refused medical treatment.

    • @shelleyphilcox4743
      @shelleyphilcox4743 6 дней назад

      If it was uncommon and the statistics were the same as or better than the average it would hardly be a scandal.
      How were the girls and women and children malnourished if they were in the care of the church? Why were the babies and childrens bodies buried without the blessing and proper funeral rights of the church, improper records? Why were bodies found dumped in the old septic tanks? Does this sound at all explicable to you? Do not make excuses or try to gloss over what happened...there or anywhere else in the world, in history and today, to girls, women, babies and children when they get pregnant and are abandoned and their babies and children punished and abused.

    The irony of it too that Mary gave birth to Jesus out of wedlock!! Astonishes me that they could not see that link. They should have been celebrating these children.

    • @verenamaharajah6082

      Jesus was not born out of wedlock. The Bible tells us that when Mary told him what had happened, Joseph quietly married her, long before the birth. The Bible also tells us that Mary and Joseph went on to have other children, half brothers and sisters to Jesus.

    Why was no reference made to mortality rates for babies in general at the time in Ireland? Also, these were state sanctioned homes but it is very convenient to lay all blame on the Catholic Church and pretend that the state is not also to blame.

      You didn’t watch carefully enough. It is stated in the video that the death rate was 5-6 times higher in comparison than outside the institution. And one possible reason is also given: The enforced lack of breast feeding making the children much more vulnerable for infectious gastroenteritis.

    My mom , who I don't know as a person. The last time I saw her she said she was sick but better now. She lived by Catholic rule. She never aborted, well as far as I know. She would get pregnant but left a child at the hospital. Lost my brother to her mother for neglect, I came even though she tried to kill her children. I had a twin that died but I came early with her and spent time in the hospital until I was healthy enough to leave. A few months . Born early with pneumonia. I don't tell this for sadness just another story . My mom tried to off me after I came home. She started a fire and left . But I can not tell you how many times in my early childhood people would just show up for no reason and rescue me. She did not marry my father so the church would not baptise me but my parents... one or both found a priest that did. I tell this because of what a stronghold the church had on my drunken parents. And its always been a weird mix of thinking. I think the call it cognitive dissonance. I was with my mon until I was 7 often left alone, hungry and abuse of sorts. But I went tp parochial school and when the system got me I could not go to any family but a Catholic family. This meant an aunt who wanted me to live with her was not able to take me in , I ended up in abusive foster homes and was not welcome there . I was extra income. The church played a big role and the shame was my ground..shame and quilt. While I have faith in Christ and guidance I really was disappointed by the church and left in my heart. I recall the emphasis of being a virgin. Of my lack for worth is I was not so since I could walk I was condemned after being abused. At 7 I felt like a worthless sinner, condemned for life. The church has done so much harm to the world. I did meet very nice nuns and feared some of the priests and nuns . . all in USA by the way.

    I agree with the lawyer, these people however old the remaining ones are today, have to be brought before the courts for the conspiracy of protecting child abusers that they were and ARE aware of. They are criminals like anyone else who commits these kinds of crimes and religion certainly shouldn't preclude them from accountability. If anything, they should be held to a higher standard because of their perceived moral high ground and the power they hold.
