Have the unit for 9 months and works perfectly. Today the door would not close and the rake would hit the door. Did research and holding down the 3rd bottom from the right and hold down the door switch for 20 seconds. Fixed the issue. The door button is hard to find but once i did the buttons it solved this problem for now. This is a great product.
I got something that worked for me. Perhaps it will work for you as well. Here is what I did: 1. Power down the ELS Litter Box and unplug it. 2. Remove the back so you can get to the door from the back. 3. Remove the Pedestal. 4. Remove the litter pan. Using a hand held dust broom or the brush that's included with the product, brush and clean the Hinge of the door and spray WD-40 on the hinge. Work the door open and close several time for the WD-40 to work in to the hinge. I "looped" a piece of tape on the face of the door - something I could hold while working the door open and closed. I then, put it all back together. Now it works fine!
@@priscacostajust switch it off(unplugged) take off the removable part of the litter box(bottom litter strainer) then make sure to tape the door so it will remain closed. From the back take off the inner flap from the inside, clean the upper hinge of the door. Then you can turn it on.
There is a way to reset it, there is a small switch in the top front of the door. Not in the back in the front hinge, you need to either feel for it on the left side. It's small like a sliver of plastic. If you look it's black and thin. Push and hold it for like 20 seconds. 10 might be fine, I do 20. It's a reset switch for the door.
Same here... Door doesn't close, even when powered down. I'm considering cutting the door such that it is always open, then it won't interfere with the rake and at the same time, think the door is closed when cleaning.
This has been the biggest headache. Supposedly automatic but I end up cleaning it out myself. Every week it stops working and it takes hours to find a resolution. Now the front door won’t close so it won’t work. I can manually get the rake to scoop litter but it won’t drop it in back because door won’t close. Very frustrating because they don’t have anyone to speak with for troubleshooting. Never receive a response from email. So basically this is a $350 litter box. I missed cutoff to return to Amazon because it was working. Now it’s broke again. Even Amazon does not have a contact number. They attempted to extend the return window but couldn’t. Please reply if anyone knows how to fix this issue.
Also, the new door position switch seems to have a better design than the old one. Changing it is easy if you have a lot of mechanical experience. But, if you’re not super experienced. It is probably going to be an issue. You will need special screwdrivers. If you buy a good electronics (screwdriver) repair kit for around $30 you should have everything you need.Their customer support is worthless. I hope this helps. If anyone is in the Chicago area. I will help you install it for free. I know how frustrating it can be after paying so much and it not working.
I believe the door switch is bad . I replaced mine and it has worked perfectly since. The new one had a better design. They are like $30 online. I already posted this. But, it didn’t seem to show. I apologize if it shows up multiple times. I just want to help. As, it was extremely frustrating for me. I’m sure it is for all of you. I posted a link of it on the previous comments. I’m wondering if that’s why they’re not showing up. Anyway, it seems like there are two different ELS pet websites. If you Google ELS pet litter box accessories. You can find the one that has the door switch.there’s a video on here that shows how to change it. If anyone is in the southwest Chicago suburbs. I would be willing to help them.
I found the solution to mine!!! Turns out when I changed the litter I didn’t have the step for the litter box pressing the connect points properly so when it would go to close, it stopped middle of closing due to that for some reason. Hope this helps!
I've got the same problem 1 month after buying it, some time the litter turn off alone at randomized time and then the door do not close when cleaning. els pet have change it, i just hope that the same problem will not appear again. My cats love it
It's a pain in the butt but if you can get someone to help you take everything off, go through the back and take the door off and then unplug the motor and plug it back in and then put the door back on
After roughly 2 months, the rake is half way up and is keeping the door from closing, and the rake won't move at all. I can't find any information about repairing it. or how to find parts to repair it. I really do like this litter box, or I should say, the cats love this box. help me find help or parts.
same here....door stuck open and can't get it to close when the rake comes down, therefore putting my cats in danger of getting impaled on the rake if they decide to go back in
Mine just started doing the same thing! This is a replacement litter box that I got like 2 months ago after the first one started messing up badly. Smh so over this company

Did this work for anyone else? I’ve tried this but without the WD40. The door opened but then didn’t close when it needed to clear out the litter.

I tried, pressed and held it for 20 seconds. Then turn the machine off/on... nothing happened.
