Factory KTM said they used the ability they have to tune the ecu to make second gear a little bit longer .forsure any stock bike even 450 would have trouble making that leap just due to the corner I was there in person the corner was so deep and muddy it didn't set them up well

You will be feeling that broken collarbone for the rest of your life- I shattered mine in the summer of 1980 racing a YZ125 on a large jump landing on a lapper! actually you feel every injury to some extent when you get old like me. but I still race/ride at 60 years old.

This is why I don't race motocross anymore. I know LaRocco's leap isn't new, but in general, the jumps make it too dangerous at my age 64. And it's no fun to have to roll them, you feel like a pussy. I wish there were more old school, terrain tracks, out there without all the big jumps. And the thing is with these big jumps, even the pro's get hurt on them all the time, us older amateurs don't have a chance.

America hasn’t done too well at the world juniors over the last few years and I worry that it’s a sign of the future. The world juniors are mostly dominated by European and Australian/New Zealand kids who coincidentally seem to be already taking over the AMA scene.

The leap is no joke but it’s not the size it’s the high landing and drop, you never see anyone get hurt from the actual case which is mad on its own, makes you wonder how the free ride and fmx guys don’t blow wheels when they go way long… 2nd no way??? I’m no pro nor will I ever be if chase said he’s tapped in 2nd on a factory bike with longer gear rations and higher RPM and the extra corner speed he carries it was never going to end well! Heal up quick!

I snapped my collar bone when i was 14 on a ride. Came over a table top with my WR426, and as i landed, it grabbed a cable in the dirt, then i got thrown into the handle bars, flipped over the bars, the bike slung shot back, then the rear wheel was still spinning, and hit the dirt, causing the bike to somersault over, with the rear seat/flare area coming down onto my collar bone snapping it. Doc told me 4 weeks and i can ride again, got back on the bike 4 weeks later, hit a berm, wet clay patch, slid on the side, landed hard on the shoulder, snapped again. No surgery. That was 25 years ago. I wish i had surgery done, but the doc said being young, it'll heal good. Suffice to say, as i have aged, the broken collarbone side has collapsed with the muscle, and i get constant aches.
    So frustrating.
I feel your pain, i'd still let it heal good to see you walk away though.

When most of the pros aren’t hitting a motocross obstacle that’s super telling as to what direction these clowns are pushing the sport… in motocross no obstacle should be destroying riders and having such severe consequences for coming up short or overshooting in supercross sure but motocross!? Absolutely ridiculous.
