Thank you for your video. I didn’t know anything about color catchers or to wash the quilt before I give it away. Thank you so much. I’m still learning.😅
Thank you for this useful information. I use these color catchers too, in all my red, blue, and black loads, with great success. They really are amazing. As an experiment, I cut a sheet in half and used it with no problem, so I cut all the sheets in half now and get good results. - I also double rinse the wash load (I use regular detergent for its cleaning and deodorizing power, plus a cup of white vinegar to sanitize) and use fragrance-free dryer sheets due to sensitive skin.
Yes! I usually do a delicate cycle but a normal cycle is likely fine. Better to find out if anything needs repair after washing before the recipient gives it the first wash!
I dry it until it’s all the way dry. Time depends on the size of the quilt. Some people will dry a bit until it’s no longer soaking wet and either hang or lay outside to dry the rest of the way!
what’s your advice if someone buys a handmade quilt and they stress not to wash and dry it in a machine? would this method still work and not damage the quilt?
This method will work! Some people will always be more cautious with handmade items and avoid the washing machine. I believe quilts should be used a ton which in turn means washing them frequently. If you didn’t want to machine wash the quilt, you could spot clean with gentle clear soap and lay it in the sun to freshen it up.

Yes, yes, yes! I love color catchers. I use them by the handful, most especially with reds which will bleed for multiple washes.

Great tips! Love the idea of cutting them in half - I'll have to try that!
My concern is what are these color made of?
Thank you for these helpful tips! :)
Thanks for watching!
Thank you!🧵✂️
Thank you for watching!!
I am new at quilting. Can I wash the quilt on the normal cycle before giving it away (it will be for a child)?

I didn't see or hear any mention of the water temperature you used. Was it cold, or is warm ok. What is best?
I use cold but warm is ok as long as you’re using color catchers or if you’ve washed your quilt previously!
thank you.
Thanks for the demo. For how long do you dry your quilt in the dryer?

@@HaileyStitches Thanks.
How much detergent do you recommend using for a quilt?
If I'm just washing one quilt, I use 1/2 - 1 tablespoon of detergent.
