Catherine, I'm disabled and don't get a large ck, to make it worse I get my ck once a month. UGH... I would like to become a Patron but don't know anything about doing that or how much a person has to give. SO can you let me know, I feel stupid for asking. I KNOW how expensive supplies are. I appreciate how everyone on here shares how to do their particular kind of artwork. If it wasn't for you tube 22 yrs ago and me being able to watch and learn after I broke my back, I would have gone out of my mind with depression. I can't wait until payday. Unfort we have 5 wks this month, so it makes it worse when I want everything NOW..lol I've been up all night watching so I'm going to bed. SO thank you. Thumbs UP!
Victoria I so appreciate you watching my videos! In my Patreon, if you contribute $5 a month, you get access to all the bonus videos. If you'd like to do a one-time donation of $5 on my Paypal, I can email you two bonus content videos of your choice. I hope that helps. My PayPal link is in every video description along with the Patreon link and info for that. Thank you again so much!!
For a highly flexible and reusable base that can be draped over anything, pour a very thin layer (only 1mm ) of moulding silicone on a really flat surface and let it cure.

My computer has chosen to update now! I was saying it's really BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for this moment of sharing. I use Art Resine resin: I don't know if it's possible to try this with this brand. In any case, this sculpture was really successful.
Thank you so much, I am really glad you could make it! I am sure you could use the art resin, just make sure it's not tacky anymore yet still pliable before you shape it =)
Love it!, Been trying out similar stuff myself and had the same problems with the cellophane as you did! Didn’t think of trying the parchment paper but will do now! Thanks for sharing and good that you mentioned Sue Findlay as she is an amazing teacher! Great video also by the way! 👌
If you wanna try the ProMarine, you can find a link to their site in the video description as well =) Oh yes, I have so many little helpers lol!! Did you catch my puppy in the one scene? Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment
Dryer Days ArT sTuDiO yes the dog was curious. I definitely will use the link for Pro Marine. They are located here in Fl. I contacted them to see about if they could withstand high temperatures for use as trivet, they said it only good to 150deg. Thanks for your knowledge and I enjoy listening.
Let me know what you think. Someone asked me in the live chat which resin I prefer. I am actually about to try a new one this weekend called Faux Rizzle as well. I replied and it's true: it just depends on my project. That's how I pick which resin to use 💜
Dryer Days ArT sTuDiO I just started using resin the first of the year and have never used any of the pricey ones, just use what I can get at Home Depot and haven’t had any issues so I’m looking forward to using this. I have seen the Faux Rizzle ad on Facebook. Thanks for the conversation. Have a good weekend.
Question, wouldn’t heat gun would’ve help to soften it a little when on top of the cup. To give it shape? It did turn out very pretty but i was just asking for reference for myself.
The struggle is real, can we say that enough. This is beautiful really beautiful. Well done Katherine. Sorry if I didn't spell that right. I'm sure Sue is proud you made her look good.
I LOVE the photo bombs (Your daughter and your cat)!!! I was wondering if you could mold the resin pieces over a deep bowl or round vase to get a better base for your piece, and then ruffling the tops? I love the cabashon pieces using up left over resin. Great idea!! Love your work!!
Thank you so much, Chuck!! I bet you could use a deep bowl. Would just need to make the surface area of the resin pour a little bigger. I appreciate you watching and commenting 🤗
BEAUTIFUL. I have tried it, Made 2 mistakes, one was to thick and two moved it after 2 hours, because was too thick, hard to shape it and the stone around it, failed to stay on it. Thank you for sharing it.
Beautifully done!!!! You are inspiring me! On the one that didn't turn out. What do you think went wrong? (So I don't make the same mistake.) I watched the video three times, to see if I missed it. And to listen to details with the chat open too.
This was my second attempt because my first one went wrong. I had tried to sculpt it way too soon and the resin was too slippery still. Thank you for watching!!
Let the mixed resin thicken up a bit in your cup for about 10-15 minutes before you pour it. Also, adding more pigment or glitter to resin will thicken it up. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching =)
Thank you so much for watching!! I was so timid that I would mess up the resin as I sculpted it. The first time, the resin wasn't firm enough and the weight of the cabochons and glass just spread the resin everywhere. I will try hitting it with some heat next time, thank you! 😀
I just watched this video again...your sculpture is gorgeous. I love your colours, they are so perfectly tasteful yet unique. Did you find the resin was matte instead of shiny from the parchment paper? I’m inspired to try this again. I’ve done it a year or so ago, one total failure, one “meh”, and one pretty one.
It is more matte on the inside. I kinda like the different texture. But if you can get some cellophane, the kind you would use for like goodie bags, that will keep it shiny. A silicone mat would work too
I love it! Love the colors and the fact that you made your own cabachons! 🥰❤️😘👌 Yes, someone mentioned heat. Would the hairdryer, or heat gun, have helped you soften the resin to mold around the base of the mold easier?
It might have and I will try it in the future. The first time, the resin wasn't firm enough and literally "dripped" down the cellophane and the cabochons and glass aided in pulling it down, so I was a bit timid to manipulate it too much here in the second try. Will probably be braver next time 😉
Wow amazing! I love the colours and the shape. Is it safe to put a small candle in? It won't melt the resin? I suppose a battery tea light would look nice too
Yes, I would say it could possibly soften the resin. Either a battery powered tea light or even putting a tea light inside a small glass candle holder to keep the heat away from the resin. Thank you so much for watching 🤗😀 and for your kind words
that came out amazing I was thinking about the parchment paper if the resin sticks to it glad you used it look like it came off easy does it matter what side to use ty I love Sue F work she is amazing. I just subscribed to your channel
Instead of the cellophane or parchment paper, do you think a silicone mat would work or would that be too thick? I didn't see a link to find 'mirrored glass'? Great video :)
Hi Julie! That's an interesting idea and may work. I can see where it might be too thick, but you should try it out! I got the glass from Michaels, here is a link to it online: www.michaels.com/gold-crushed-glass-by-ashland/10556544.html
I think Sue Findlay only waits 3 hours before molding it around the jar/vessel. It would seem once the resin hardens too much it becomes less pliable. I saw another artist struggle to get it to mold around the jar and she only waited 4 hours. Maybe this will help!
Rather than a hair tie, wrap lightly with 1" white medical tape. Works for me with no lines because it stretches and I cut small lines every couple millimeters. Must use some type of wax paper to separate tape.
Thank you 🤗. Yes, I did mention in another comment to at least put the candle in a glass cylinder or use a battery powered tea light. I really tall candle might be pretty too, but then just remove it as it burns down closer to the piece. Thank you for watching =)
Just stunning! I love the two layers that give it so much dimension. They make it a sculpture rather than a bowl. Awesome.

Do I understand that the colored mica can be used in place of resin inks? If so, how much mica do you recommend to mix into the resin? Thank You!
Yes, you only ever need 10% or less ratio of pigments, inks, etc to the amount of clear resin in your cup
@@DryerDaysArTsTuDiO Thank you! like should I be able to see the stir stick as I stir?
It depends on the color and opacity you want. I can usually see my stick a tiny, tiny bit through if I pull the stick out to look at it

It is very beautiful. I'm just concerned that over time it will lose it's shape. For instance if placed near a sunny window. ??
