probably one of the best sounding demos.

Great to see Roland making their gorgeous old analogue synth technology available again as true analogue componentry. I understand they cater to different markets and price points but having once owned a System 100m I will take this over Boutique ACB anyday. Now how about a some true analogue Jupiters and Junos please?

I'm a die-hard, hard-core Roland fan. I got sucked in with the XP-80 back in 1997, still have it (works PERFECTLY), along with the smaller one without the floppy drive :), then found V-drums. I have a TD-12 for my 2nd drum kit (of 4). That one, I had the power supply changed and cleaned up. Not bad for what, 13 years I've had it...? Took about half time that to pay it off ($3,200=floor model), but it's a flawless, extremely durable machine.
TightSqueeze is a duo of musician/noisemakers. We've done some BIZARRE st*t using the XP-80 MIDI'ed to a friends TD-10 V-drum kit (earlier and larger than my TD-12s, with VERY CONVENIENT tiny triggers for high hat and kick, PLEASE bring them back! They're very FAST, and light! And go back to 8 inch pads, the huge ones are stupid. No one wants to move all that!)...
We had 2 albums we made using weird noises from bouncing MIDI signals between the two units. Half of which not sure we could reproduce! Two musicians and MIDI cables equals not so much modified sine waves, but more like a sonic tennis match.
It's EXTREMELY cool, and so absorbing, the apocalypse could come and we'd never notice unless the power went out.
THIS sucker could be a GREAT expansion to what we like. It could kill in the hands of actual musicians. Because you could do some serious damage (think Wendy Carlos: Switched on Bach).
    I NEED this.
One request, please make them better electronically. I have some components that are just made with gorgeous care, example: an Epiphone acoustic Reagent 2 channel PA/piezo amp. It wasn't horribly expensive, unlike ANYTHING made by Roland.
And any dork (electronics engineer) calls Roland stuff "2 pounds of poo in a 1 pound bag." I can't fault that it works, but it's ugly and not pretty INSIDE.

How is it normalled specifically between the VCO and VCF sections? There are 3 waveform outs from the vco, but only two sliders to mix in the vcf section. If using the normalled connection "with no cables" what goes in to the vcf?

Square wave from vco is normalled to vcf input 1. If you want saw or triangle you would have to patch

    1:25 元々高さ230mm(取説に表記)だったオリジナルのSYSTEM-100Mを3U(133.35mm, ユーロラックサイズ)に詰め込んだせいか窮屈ですね。
    たとえ値段が上がってもオリジナルに近い5U(222.25mm, モーグ・モジュラー・サイズ)で復刻した方がよかった気がします。

Can anyone tell me what brand cables those are?

    • @RheyneMusic
      @RheyneMusic 6 лет назад +1

Kurt Buchtel I believe some of those are an old prototype cable from Roland, when they were deciding which style of cables to include with the System 1M a few years ago.

There Roland cables, you can buy them on guitar centers website but I'm not sure where else.

These are all Roland patch cables. Each color cable is available in one length. I have several of each color as they come in a set of each of the colors. These cables are different from the Polar Noise cables that are also fabric covered in 10 different colors in 7 lengths.

surely the industry can come up with some modular cable management? hard to see what's going on with all of those cables! Sounds great, though

It reminds me of the70's era when I had to carry 48 patchcords on my neck to set up some really weird patches on a Moog 55 (or 3P)...

If it was that much of a problem it would have been done by now. Why would you want to wrap them up when you will be messing with them. stupid suggestion.

In fact, there is another system : the matrix surface like those of VCS3, and MaxiBrute.

Transparent fibre optic cables with tiny D/A converters in each plug. Tiny bluetooth 3.5 jack transmitters/receivers. Quantum entanglement. Dark magic wireless plugs with twitching tiny frog nerves generating +/- 5v signals.

Villan Bond not really, they just put their name on the modules. Roland does not have any analog competence anymore.

Not much of a listen. Doesn't Roland know how to play more sounds? Some leads, some bass, some pads. A single squigly sound is not what I call taking a listen to it!

badaszewski true. Aira sounds very ordinary.

Axel Foley I dunno that I would go with ‘ordinary’ for AIRA. The EFX modules have made a real impact in the way the signals move around inside of these stand alone /rack mountable units. All four of them have programmability that is down right original in Almost every way. The EFX range IS AIRA, right(?). I’m thinking about giving a shot at bending my System 1 to give it some cv modulation ins / outs with VCAs, making it a bit more like the 1m. With or without CV / modulation patch-ins, the AIRA gear is pretty much a whole set up that in and of itself could be a great pro studio on the go. Plug out is a pretty cool option, much like the EFX customizer, only I cannot afford these plug out files. I do wish that the price point for these plug outs was a little more comparable to a smart phone app!
