      @MrGamelover23 10 месяцев назад

      @@ventsislavminevTo be fair, the benefit of the naked system is that everything works out of the box together with zero effort. Sure, you can create your own pseudo-acosystem by using apps like KDEconnect on Android, but frankly, almost nobody does that. Apple understands that convenience is literally the most important thing in tech. They also know what the average user doesn't care about. Then they abuse that and the rest of the industry are followers because it's more profitable.
      Plus, the battery life on their laptops shoots on everyone else's laptops, and that's kind of the most important thing in a laptop. Sure, you can buy a more powerful Windows computer, but it will probably have a worse trackpad or screen or speakers. You know, the things that actually matter when using the damn thing. And if you find a Windows computer that has speakers, screen, and trackpad as good as a Mac, it's probably going to cost way more and have way worse battery life.
      I hate Apple, but to their credit, they understand consumer psychology better than every nerd online.

    The day I bought my current laptop, I disassembled it and replaced the RAM and HDD with superior hardware and got the equivalent of a system that would have cost me hundreds more brand new, but I paid a fraction of it buying the computer second-hand and using parts I already had from salvaging other units. And that's why I will stay with PC architecture and never, ever go with a Mac.

    I just bought an open-box (like new) Asus M16 from Best Buy for ~$610 after tax. Was only missing the paper sleeves for the laptop and charger in the box, and the regulatory compliance booklet, hilarious big discount for those small details. i7-12700h, rtx 3060, 16gb dual channel ddr5. I swapped the one socketed memory stick for a 32gb module for a total of 40gb now, and upgraded to a total of 3TB of NVME gen 4 between the two slots. Total cost of $800 for everything. Runs lots of VMs, and I'm having a much better time running networking labs for school while on the go with that big 16:10 screen :) Plus it games very well on wall power in my (sadly rare) free time. I won't buy another macbook unless Apple pays for it, and pays me on top of that at this point. But if you're listening, Apple, I'm willing to negotiate 😂

I’m curious to see five years ahead because at this rate I don’t think they will around in ten.

      @@StardustLegacyFighter Right now, windows market share is the lowest ever and apples is the highest ever. While Windows is still dominating the market, the 2 lines are diverging quickly. It will be interesting to see where we are in 10 years, but it's the flawless eco system that will keep many of us like myself stuck in apple world. Windows is catching up in it's OS flaws, but most windows laptops have everything soldered on, not just macs. And android phone makers are starting to serialize their parts too, like samsung. By the nature of supporting hundreds of different hardware processors and chip sets, I don't see android and windows ever getting as seamless and easy to use for the average user. Errors on mac drivers are rare, because it is gatekeeped and has fewer hardware variants, while windows driver errors are common. Yes, they are getting better, but it's just basic probability. If there's 150 cell phone boards with different combinations of chip sets, the probability of issues are higher than when there's 5 or 6 chip sets in use at any given time (apple), and the new chip-sets are mostly an extension of the previous, making issues even less likely. Even if you can ensure all of the different features exist in android that all of the different models have, you will always end up with a lot of bloat code that doesn't need to be there for your device because it doesn't have that feature. This is in part why less ram 4gb of ram in apple can be better than 8gb of ram at the same clock speed and generation on a windows or android device.

    I got my first Mac when the M1 line came out; there is a lot to like, but yes, memory and HD space are priced way out of line. At the time, it would cost me a little over 2300 for a new PC, and I got the M1 for 1100, so it was a win. So now I still have it, and I will need a new computer later (2 years from now), but I don't know if the current price trend will continue on a Mac or if I will get a PC again and still pay a ton of money. Great video, btw!

      @charlespokeradventures 11 месяцев назад

      Well, Yes and NO, Yes, you can upgrade your PC all you want. I had a monster case for 15 years, and that was the only thing that wasn't updated, So when upgrading a Video Card, I would need a new Mother Board, but why, because then the bottleneck would be CPU. Now I also need a new RAM stick, which costs. If I wasn't, video editing could be cheaper; I don't play computer games anymore. If I did, I would still have a PC. Also I had my first PC back 1988, also always did my upgrades myself...So, if you think I am an Apple fanboy, you are wrong. It just works better for me at this time in my life, but it is not for everyone. Lastly, I never said PC was going away! @@aaronstorey9712

    I've explained to many people that things cost what you will pay for them, not what the "fair" price is. If you could eat Taco Bell and crap solid-gold turds, you'd be selling the turds at the daily spot price for gold, not what it costs to eat at Taco Bell.
    This is why "price gouging" isn't actually a thing; things cost what you'll pay, driven by supply and demand. If you can convince someone to pay more, then that's good for you and bad for them.

      That is a non-sequitur. You're confusing is-statements with ought-statements. Prices are considered gouged in reference to a standard of fairness that exists independently if actually applied or not.

      That's one thing about Media (Songs, Films, Videogames) I mean after the INITIAL outlay, the costs for printing/duplication are minute. Especially where it comes to digital goods.
      At least physical things have SOME intrinsic value (The value of what they're made from)
      Also if you could eat Taco Bell and crap solid-gold turds, it's likely that at least one other person (if not almost everyone else) would be able to do so too. Then the spot price for gold will be only slightly higher than the cost of eating at Taco Bell.

      Capitalism is about making profits not fairness. If there is no cartel nothing is stopping another organization from stepping in and undercutting the 'price-gougers' to take away their business. Agreed in practice its often not that easy.

A lot of how they do it is by putting only 8gb of ram in their "cheaper" models ("cheaper" being "under $2000"). There is simply no way around upgrading to 16gb if you want this computer to last at all down the road other than a soldering iron and a crap ton of skill, tools, and specialized know-how.

      On the contrary, price increases would outprice a section of the market, specially during this difficult times, and thus decrease demand. Investors value the company’s growing and loyal user base beyond the profit margins as they are more accurately correlated to growth potential
