Kathie, Debbi, Joni and Kim. You paved the way for so many others. I only wish you weree still making real music today and showing these folks whom are masquerading themselves off as music makers exactly how it is done. BRING BACK SISTER SLEDGE
Those were the era of great funk/r&b music. Hearing the base and the drum makes it unquestionable that it was a Narada Michael Walden style .Very deep and tight base. Thanks for sharing it.
On this day in 1981 {April 11th} Sister Sledge performed "All American Girls" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... One month earlier on March 15th, 1981 "All American Girls" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #89, the following week it would peak at #79 {for 2 weeks} and it spent five weeks on the Top 100... And on March 22nd, 1981 it peaked at #3 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart.. Between 1974 and 1985 the Philadelphia sisters had nineteen records on the Hot Soul Singles chart, four made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "He's The Greatest Dancer" for one week in 1979 and "We Are Family" for one week in 1979... Besides "He's The Greatest Dancer" and "We Are Family", their two other Top 10 records were the above "All American Girls" and "Got To Love Somebody" {#6 in 1979}... Sadly, sister Joni Sledge passed away at the young age of 60 on March 10th, 2017 {natural causes}... May she R.I.P.
No doubt the most beautiful women to ever come out of Philly...they were having a blast doing this song but the crowd looks like Nashville tourists at a bar down on Second Ave.
I always love hearing and LOOKING at the lovely Sledge ladies. They definitely have it going on and still do.Saw their recent photos and their recent work and they don,t look any older and their sound still sounds fresh. They are a true example of how a female entertainer can still be sexy with out being half naked and all weaved out.Love them.
I can only surmise that the German audience was non too thrilled about them singing about being All American Girls.........but hell, how could they not get up and dance to that bass line????!!!
Que GRAN CANCION UN CLASICAZO DEL RECUERDO!! UNO D MIS FAVORITOS!! DE LA MEJOOORRR EPOCA!! TODAS LAS CHICAS AMERICANAS!!.. LA MEJOOORRR MUSICA!! QUE VIVAN LOS CLASICOS INMORTALES!!..
When I hear this track, it reminds me of you, Maya, and takes me back to 1987 right in Leicester Square, London. How many times have we met in Gloucester Road in that restaurant, in Covent Garden and in so many places around? How many times have we walked in Notting Hill and up to Clarincarde Gardens W2, where you used to live? Those were the days. Wish I'd never left to Morocco, and you to Greece that summer of 1987. Who knows? Maybe you'll read this one day...
it's interesting, I thought the same myself. It's interesting to see how faithful NMW was to the Chic sound the girls had been known for on the previous two albums.
Love Sister Sledge always & FOREVER 🧡💛💚❤💙💜🖤💖💖💖💖 would love to sing with them Just 1 song would be enough 🎸🎸🎸🎸🥂🥂🥂🥂 u were so glamorous & FANTASTIC xxxx

Randy Jackson was a part of Narada Michael Walden's posse'. So most of Narada's projects had Randy Jackson as the bass player.
loving the quality of this video! thanks for upload!
The 80's versions of Destiny's Child...but better!!
Far away better....
Agreed!!
Yep
Hahaha! All American girls! One of them is walking around over here!!
They rocked this song. But, the audience was like a bump on a log.
stupenda musica degli anni 70 suonava molto in discoteca

Disco forever yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Kathy Sledge 🙏🏼👏👏
Saturday night feeling, come on and dance
Look at the audience, they are just sitting there. Get up and boogie!
over the best and authentic
Very underrated song by Sister Sledge. I've always loved this jam, especially the Chic bass and guitar solo at the end.
that's Randy Jackson from the tv show
This album isn't a chic album. But Michael Walden was able to keep their sound on this song.
@@djscott1129 Of course, thanks for correcting me. Not sure how I forgot that this was produced by Walden.
I think the first time I seen Sister Sledge was on Solid Gold Show and from then I had a crush on Kathy'.
I just can't get over the audience, lmao. I would be shaking my groove thing and all they doing are clapping their hands.
Narada Michael Walden it's a genius!
Hottestttttt!!!! very great & very hard to replace them.Britney,Pussycat dolls& co Ain`t worth shit.still my favorite
I know this song through an 80's music mix called "pirate mix" that isn't even on the internet, the next song is Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes
