  • The Battle of Britain, also known as the Air Battle for England (German: die Luftschlacht um England), was a military campaign of the Second World War, in which the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Fleet Air Arm (FAA) of the Royal Navy defended the United Kingdom (UK) against large-scale attacks by Nazi Germany's air force, the Luftwaffe. It has been described as the first major military campaign fought entirely by air forces. The British officially recognise the battle's duration as being from 10 July until 31 October 1940, which overlaps the period of large-scale night attacks known as the Blitz, that lasted from 7 September 1940 to 11 May 1941. German historians do not accept this subdivision and regard the battle as a single campaign lasting from July 1940 to May 1941, including the Blitz.
Thank you as usual for checking out our video, we appreciate it immensely. I hope you found it helpful in some way and if so please throw us a like or even subscribe if you wish to be kept up to date with our latest releases ‪@heavymetaldiecast‬
This particular model set is one to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It contains a Mk.I Spitfire and a Bf-109 E and is made by Corgi in a limited run of sets. They are both 1/72nd scale diecast. I think they are great models depicting aircraft of a world changing battle that occurred during World War 2
Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
    Cheers

Great match up. But instead of the Supermarine Spitfire I would have had to the Hawker Hurricane. Spitfire always gets the glory, but actually the Hurricane was the mainstay of fighter command. Keep up the great videos. As always salute from a soldier.

Yeah it's a good little set with this pack if i recall right these two two aircraft were involved in a dog fight. Certainly true about the Hurri always playing second fiddle tobthe Spitty. Like the poor old Jug to the Mustang same thing. The pony looks all sleek and sexy but the P47 gets down and dirty and gets the job done. I've always preferred the ugly of the sexy, haha Its why I love the A-10 😀. Thanks again for watching one of my older video's. Don't go to far back my early ones are really bad, haha. Hoping I have improved over time 😀.

Yeah I'm not sure myself. Was one of the biggest gathering of aircraft for a movie ever I think. Would have been great to see the filming. Was an expensive movie to make because of that, haha.

Nice video. It is quite clear from the video that the bf109 was a better plane than the spitfire. The bf109 has 12 cylinder engine while the spitfire has only 6.

The 109s had a supercharger and injection which gave them an early edge. The spitfire and hurricanes i believe had v12 rolls royce engines but where carburetor fed. So alot of me109 pilots would fly upside down as a maneuver as this would affect the carb fed English planes and starve the engines a little of fuel. Injection wouldn't get affected no matter what direction the plane was in 😀

@@heavymetaldiecast your comments are correct, but the spitfire in the video seems to be six cylinder engine. In any case Germans lost the battle of England which is somehow surprising because they have better planes than the British at that time. Some people say that Germans have an inner conspiration against Hitler so that was the reason for Germans to loose so many important battles. I can't say if that is true or not, but l have seen videos in RUclips of German pilots who said that they were shocked when they were ordered to bomb London.

@@jmguevarajordan I think the exhaust port on that Spitfre cover 2 sets, hence why only 3 on each side as they are double the size of the 109s which has exhaust for each individual one hence the 6 on each side. I feel tje Spitfire and even Hurricane were fairly equal match, I think Luftwaffe had more experienced pilots though. 109s could perform to there most effectiveness anyway over Britain. They didn't have the fuel to hang around in long engaementd and when firced tobescort bombers that negated there speed. So tactics hindered them a little too. But its hustory now, haha. Im no expert on the Spitty though as personally was more drawn to WW2 German aircraft as both my parents were German and my family was involved in the war. They immigrated to Australia in the 50's. To be honest Germany never wanted to go to war with England. France and England declared war on Germany after the joint invasion of Poland by Russia and Germany. I always wondered why they also never declared war on Russia. Then joining with Russia to destroy Nazi Germany only to fight a cold war with communist Russia for the next 50 years. I always wondered what would have happened if they stopped communism instead or aswell. No Korean war, no Vietnam war and no current threat from communist China. Funny China I guess forgot the west saved them from imperial Japan during WW2. But it's all politics, way above my pay grade, haha.

@@heavymetaldiecast thank you for your answer and deep and honest analysis. Many people ask themselves that question regarding Russia but that is politics.
Your observation about the exhaust tubes of the spitfire was unknown to me so thank you for your explanation.

Where would you want to live now . In a free democratic Germany or in vodka drunk Russia.
Let's not even talk about what they are doing in the Ukraine.
