Thanks Chris - we had a very tough time getting one surprisingly. The Axis aircraft we are covering are rare but we will work to get a copy of each airframe.

My father was nearly killed by a betty bomber in WWII.. It was his closest call to death. My dad was stationed on the CVL 24 USS Belleau Wood. One of Bull Halsey's fast attack carriers. They fought 13 major battles in just 18 months. They were awarded a Presidential Unit Citation. Dad's general quarters station was to operate an electric aiming gun sight. The gun mount sat right above the 40 mm anti aircraft gun.
On the day of the Betty attack. The Betty came right at him on his gun sight. All the ships guns were shooting at this Betty. She was on fire and had a torpedo on fire hanging down blow her.. The Betty was headed on a straight line 😂😂in towards dad. He put the crosshairs of his gun right on the Betty's cockpit and he fired as fast as the Marines could load the gun. Dad said the plane was on fire and burning torpedo hanging down too. Dad put the cross hairs of the gun aiming in the cockpit. He watched the rounds pour into the white hot cockpit. He said he could see human figures in the burning fuselage moving around. He pumped his tracers right into them. Later in life this story bothered Dad when he told it because he know without a doubt he had taken human life. That bothered him when he was an old man. The burning Betty was headed straight at him but it elevated up a little at the last minute. It went right over his head. He said he could have touched it with a broom handle. He said he could feel the entense burning heat from the burning plane right over his head. Bits and pieces of the burning Betty fell flaming all around him. By the grace of God the Betty glowing in flames just skipped across the flight deck and splashed into the water and exploded on the opposite of his carrier. That was a close call and a burning Betty was a pretty big plane for that experience .
