I think it doesn't matter they are together or not. Ji-ahn means 'having reached comfort' in korean. In other word nirvana. Although she had a hard time, her relationship with him allowed to stay 'in her own nirvana '. according to her name. She's grown up on her own feet not to pretend.

He didnt love his wife anymore. The girl loved him and he felt same way but suppressed it because of the kind of person he was and the fact that he was still a married man.
