Hey DeBolt. ⚡Just wanted to say what an awesome job you're doing on RUclips. I just found out about you a few days ago when RUclips recommended me your channel which I am very satisfied with! Keep drumming for God man, and God bless!
DeBoltDrumming I got my 26” Jazz ride not too long ago, you should definitely check em out. P.S. I still use my 22” trad dark and 16” 30th Anniversaries Agops but MAN you should check out the Jazz series
For our worship services, We are using all Zildjian. I am running 16” hats (k dark thin top, 16” zbt crash bottom lol), 20 inch medium thin low ride (left crash), 22 inch medium thin low ride (ride), 20 inch k cluster crash (right side crash)
I run with heartbeat on all three of my kits at my church campuses and it doesn’t get much better than these guys. I use a 24 epic ride and it’s my favorite, has one of the best washes out of anything I’ve tried. Super glad you’re with these guys now
I bought the 15" epic hats and 24" epic ride and they are definitely the best purchase I've ever made in terms of cymbals! Absolutely no regrets - they're monsters! So good, especially in a church's modern worship setting
I just started using heartbeats and I love them! my setup from left to right: 16 inch jazz hats, 20 inch jazz crash, 24 inch epic ride, and 22 inch epic crash. my church band notices a big difference since I got these. I also use a 6.5x14Ludwig Black Beauty Snare and I love it!
I'm starting to get hooked onto Heartbeat cymbals even though I don't use them for worship. I currently have the 24" epic ride and 20" classic medium thin crash. Both sound excellent.
Currently I am using a 24" jazz light ride, 24" epic ride and 18" jazz crash over 18" epic crash for hihats. I've played a lot of cymbals over the last 20 years of drumming and heartbeats just seem to be "my sound" for now at least. I didn't choose them because "they're hip" at the moment like a bunch of people see it. I knew I wanted some before I found all these others with them.
I got 2 armor crashes and the custom dry 22" ride Love them. Although I was thinking of getting "bigger" crashes. I play in big rooms sometimes they'd play better I feel. Love the sound of the epics.
recently just purchased 16’ Classic Hats, 20’ Classic Crash and 22’ Epic Ride, Next year I’m planning on getting a 22’ Jazz Ride so I can use the Epic Ride as my right crash. we’ll see how these turn on lol
Awesome video! I'm looking into buying the Epic 26" Ride, 24" Crash, 22" Crash but not sure what to do for the Hats. I usually do 15" but I think I want to do 16". I know you like the 17" but does that make your hi hat stand sit farther away due to the size? I don't like my hats to overlap my snare because when I hit my left crash, my hats usually get in the way and I hit my hand on it. What's your opinion on it? Also I will be using a 24"x15" kick, 12"x8" Rack, 16"x16" floor.
Thanks for this, Noah. Did you consider getting the 24" Jazz Ride from Heartbeat? I've noticed many worship drummers use that one as well. What do you think?
I did consider it. I used a Jazz ride a few years ago and loved it. It's just a little darker and has different overtones than what I am wanting for what I'm doing right now ⚡️⚡️
Would you recommend epic 15 inch hats, 18 inch crash, and 20 inch ride for a church around 150 in attendance in a building with high ceilings and no drum mic's? My biggest concern is overpowering the other instruments and not mixing well. Awesome video, great detail to each cymbals' own characteristics!
Man, the tone differences between the 24" ride and 24" crash are crazy. The ride sounds quite a bit...deeper? Darker? I have a 24" Epic ride myself, and just wondering what the technical differences between the 24" Epic crash and the 24" Epic ride would be? Also, have you ever considered the 26" Epic ride? Thanks for sharing this great video!
❤️⚡️Bro I hear you! I think the biggest difference between the two is their weight. That has such a big factor on the character of a cymbal. I have not considered the 26". It'd be fun, but idk how useable it is haha
Hello, God bless you all. I would like to know if you could help. The church drum kit is closed in a booth and I want to change the cymbals but the cymbals that I have always had are the K custom Dark ones because if I put one that sounds brighter it bothers me. It's time to mix my headphones. I would like to know what line of cymbals would be similar to the K custom Dark ones so I can use them and change cymbals.
Hi Noah, I am currently looking at heartbeat cymbals a lot as I upgrade my cymbal set up to be more worship focused. The newest addition to my lineup is a 20" Byzance Extra Thin Hammered crash. I really love the dark and washy sound it gives. As I've said, I have looked at heartbeat cymbals quite a bit as of recent, and and I knew before this video I definitely am going to purchase the 24" Epic Ride. My main questions regard crashes and hats. First off I am torn between 16" or 17" hats. I know you said that you run 17" hats because of the volume when paired with other large cymbals, but I will be running most likely 20" crash, 22" crash, 24" epic ride. Would you suggest still going with the 17" hats or 16"? A general question behind your cymbal choices - why did you go epic series over others? Thanks for the great content! It has been hard to find good Heartbeat cymbal demonstrations.
Thomas! So good bro. ⚡️❤️ 1. In your case, with the size of your other cymbals, I would still go 17" for hi-hats. However, if you play in different groups outside of worship, or play a lot of acoustic gigs, then maybe the 16's would work better for adaptabilities sake. 16's can work well in any genre, whereas 17's kind of limit you to bigger, washier stuff. I hope that helps! ⚡️ 2. I chose the Epic stuff because I loved all the audio files I heard on Heartbeat's website. They are exactly what I was searching for; big, washy, brighter cymbals. ⚡️❤️
hey noah! great stuff. I'm pretty new to this channel so im not sure if u have covered it in ur previous videos, but why do u play with ur stick upside down in some of ur worship songs?
So glad you're here Steven! ⚡️❤️I'm currently editing a video about this very thing! Should be up soon. In short, it feels like using the thicker end of the stick enables me to get louder, fatter, and deeper tones out of the snare drum. ⚡️We will analyze further in that video to see if that is actually true or not haha ❤️
Hey Noah! I'm on the hunt for some cymbals right now. Been playing drums for my church for about 4 years and definitely love the cymbals heard in big, live, contemporary Christian music (Elevation, Hillsong, Red Rocks, Bethel) and I'd rather buy it nice than twice altho I wouldn't be doing live stuff with them just yet... love what I'm hearing from these HeartBeats even tho I was looking into Zildjian Ks for a while... what do you think of 16 Classic hats, 20 epic crash, and 22 epic ride? Too small? Do you know if they'd blend well??
hey bro. You still rocking the same set up today? I know this video is from a year ago. I have pretty much the same exact set up as you lol, minus the 24 in epic crash. Looking for that second crash on the right, so I'm curious if you find enough contrast between the epic ride and crash since they are both 24in? Love how it sounds. If you could do it again, would you go with the 24in epic crash as your second crash? Appreciate the vids man. It's been incredibly helpful for me personally, as I know it has for several others. Keep shepherding drummers!
Hey Sam ⚡️❤️ I did not! I had the Istanbul OM 24, but my church owns a Joey haha They are pretty pricey 😂 I think the Epic does what I want better than the Joey. The epic is more washy, less pingy, and not as loud! ⚡️❤️
Just found your videos searching info on Heartbeat Cymbals... specifically the Epic Series. I’m fixing to purchase almost the same setup as you have. This is one of the best videos over these cymbals that I have found. Do you recommend the Classic Hi-Hats overall all their other options? I was looking at 17” Istanbul Xist dry dark hats, but if i can find Heartbeat hi-hats that i like and match the epic series well... then i could order my whole setup directly from them.
Jordan! So excited for you bro! Buying new cymbals is such a blast. And I appreciate your kind words bro ⚡️❤️ In your instance, if you are wanting something like the 17" Istanbul Xist Dry Dark Hats, I think the 17" Heartbeat Raw Hats would serve as the best comparison. I've never owned them, but the audio samples from their website sound like the best equivalent. Hopefully that helps! Let me know what you end up deciding on ⚡️❤️
How are you feeling about this set up now? I’m considering 16” 10 series hats with the rest of you’re set up. Possibly a 21 instead it the 24 crash but im on the fence!
17" Hats?? My main crash for the last 20+ years is 17" lol. I love huge rides but those hats are just too massive to me. Love the response of the sound off each cymbal but they're way too dark a sound for me. Just need much higher kHz out of a cymbal set for me and am used to larger cymbals sounding Higher in pitch but these seem to be the opposite.
