    I hate subscription office software. I have a copy of MS Office 2010 and use it occasionally, however it is not my daily driver. I am now (and for the last 8 years) a LINUX user. Love the OSs and all the excellent applications and do not have of mess with Microsoft antics.

      @@AndyMaloneMVP No doubt. Never the less this option looks useful for me as potentially occasional user. Like you I find clients are surprised by what they've already paid for. Favourties so far are telling folks about Bookings and of course using Sharepoint/OneDrive/Teams instead of paying for DropBox.

    I use Excel by choice, Word under sufferance because WordPerfect is a far better product in many ways, and PowerPoint because I provide people with 'shows' and don't know how to use other products. I would like to use Linux instead of DOS with the Windows GUI, because Windows has too many problems, some of which I think are written into the software to make you pay for an upgrade. I also don't trust Microsoft. I have to go through and uninstall lots of things I don't want on my computer but Microsoft puts there, without asking, with a security upgrade.

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  8 месяцев назад +1

      Speaking personally. I found Microsoft to be a highly diligent organisation when it comes to security and compliance. Working with them, I’ve discovered that they take your security very seriously, and do not share your content or PII with anyone without your prior knowledge or consent. There are settings in windows that you can control how much information you share, you should take a look at this. You will notice that I use a Mac for my daily life. I happen to think it’s a better platform than windows, more a bust and more secure. Of course, this is just my opinion through experience. Thanks for sharing your opinions, I do value them. All the best, Andy

    I can buy Office 2019 for less than a month's subscription, and I truly hate subscriptions, leases, and all other flimflam marketing schemes that are bad ideas. I especially don't like the way they try to hook students.

    Why? Because I do not like to lease a car, I do not like to rent a house. I got back to the Office 2016.
    What about going to a car dealer and he will tell you that you cannot buy a car, just rent one!? 😂

    • @AndyMaloneMVP
      @AndyMaloneMVP  9 месяцев назад +1

      You can still purchase Office 2022 but from a business perspective if you want to stay with traditional IT. You’ll need a server Infastructure inc hardware, software, staff, licensing, utilities. Not too mention security professionals who will help you clean up that ransomware attack that’s just wiped out your company. But I suppose you’re right stick with what works right? 🤣😂

      @@AndyMaloneMVP😁 Yes. I am a freelancer and sometimes I do not have an internet connection. In my case the mandatory cloud thing is annoying.
      I understand that Microsoft wants us to be all in the clouds 😂 but a little flexibility would be nice. I want to work locally and to upload only the finished product.
      Also sometimes I work 240 hours a month on my laptop but sometimes I work only 6 hours. For me one payment is better and I hate this monthly payment.
      Last, I returned to Office 2016 for one particular function: local autosave.
      Thank you for your work. I watched the video just to know what I am missing. 😂

      It is an unordered list, not a document or spreadsheet. By clicking on the headings at the top, you can sort in any order. If you want it sorted in a particular order, create a new column maybe call it "OrderBy" & sort on that column.

    I do not like subscription software, and can't justify paying ~$60/year for a product that is used only a few times each month. Furthermore, I really despise software that is tied to the internet unless it REALLY needs to be. Most office applications do not NEED to be tied to the internet, my MMORPG of choice does.

    Because Google Docs got there first.
    Google also has a smart phone called Android.
    Microsoft bought up a piece of Nokia and then drove it into the ground. If they had not perhaps more people would be using Microsoft apps.
    Microsoft's phone had huge icons - Android has smaller one. Android also has useful widgets.
    ... and because Google has a phone a lot of people use Google, Chrome, GMail and Google Docs etc.

    Nothing coming from Microsoft would ever run on the PCs I am owning, they explained to the world that Internet wasn 't safe and that we should use MS network, that Wikipedia wasn't reliable that we should buy MS encarta, that a partially closed format .docx was an openstandard, that Linux was a cancer but their closed source OS with backdoors for US agencies was safe, that preventing me to install the OS of my choice on my PC was required for safety reasons ( UEFI and others restrictions imposed on hardware), that open standards on internet were a bad thing and that we should use IE and IIS proprietary extensions. And I can give you a few more reasons.

      Excel. Word. PowerPoint. The apps are powerful but terrible to use and teach. Every time I use them, I feel like I just got into a time machine and went back to the late 1990s. They should be embracing a context sensitive UI. Show the user what they are likely to need based on the tool they are using and what is currently selected. There is no excuse for making users scour ribbons of endless, poorly done icons.
