Thank you! That is very kind of you to say. As you know, I don't do that many videos, but I try to make each one with a purpose. I'm so pleased you are enjoying my channel!
The best thing Rosanne in your videos - even all are best - is that , I am sitting on my desk and grab papers and pen as if I am listening to a lecture from a professor in university . Your way of introducing your purpose is very helpful since it is deeply categorized. Actually in our end, we don’t need to do a lot of what you are donning now at your side due to totally different winter. Steve is doing a great job, my special greetings to him. Keep going Steve.👍👍 Your way of storing many things from outdoor to the shed is reflecting a high sense of science since by the time, all of these things (rabbits, pots, stands ……..etc.) are affected by exposing to weather changes and freezing winter.✔✔ All in all I am very grateful to you for sparing all this time to prepare such a stunning video for your followers. Thank you Rosanne!!
Greetings Ramadan! It's always nice to hear from you, as you are so very flattering with your words. It is probably no coincidence that you see the "teacher" in my communication style. I was indeed a university professor for part of my life (business finance). Only thing is, I loved gardening more than finance 😉. In hindsight, I wish I had pursued horticulture academically. I do imagine winters in Jordan are quite different than ours, although your summer seems similar to ours. It is going to snow this afternoon and we will be turning our water off to the garden very soon. It marks the end of the gardening season and it is bittersweet. I do like a good break from gardening, because it makes springtime all the more precious. Comments such as yours keep me motivated. Thank you. Have a wonderful winter season! Steve sends his regards!
We bring work to the wire manufacturer, Rosanne. It's 20 degrees celsius here, I cut my Gunnera back at the first frost in September, but it's so warm for the end of October. Climate change 🙄Your collection of rabbits is stunning! A fluffle 🥰
Hi Tineka, We sure do buy a lot of wire! 😉 We had snow a week ago and now it's forecast to be in the 70's (20 C) next week. Crazy. Glad you liked the 🐇🐇🐇!
I just found your videos. I love them and they are so informative. I've just started gardening 4 years ago and I'm addicted. I have found I'm happiest when a hot mess in my garden. Cleaning up the garden before winter is like saying goodbye to an old friend.
Welcome Sherri! I'm so glad you found my channel too! I don't do many videos, but I try to make each one special. My favorite quote is by a famous British horticulturalist and designer from the last century, Gertrude Jekyll (Jee'-kl). She says, "The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies". Have a wonderful time as you continue in your gardening happy zone. Just think, after the holidays, it will be time to order seeds!
Yay, I'm glad you like the 🐇🐇🐇! I like some whimsy in the garden; not everybody does. Now I'm curious, I'll have to look up Annie Sloane . Maybe the fluffle have a treat in store 😉
Greetings to Queensland! I do enjoy the four seasons, as winter is a nice break from the garden, and a great time to get inspired. But, I am happy for you as you head into your summer garden season. I hope you have a great one!
I love the way you organized the topics in this video! Very informative. I have been putting my garden to bed for decades but learned a few facts and tips from you today. TY
Greetings to Melbourne! I grew up in this climate, so I do love winter. Although, I can do without the extreme cold. It's harsh alright, and my husband and I think of moving to a warmer climate, but I don't think we'll ever have the heart to leave.
Always happy to see you post a new video. Really enjoyed how you organized the topics and provided such great advice. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and garden with us. 🙏💚
Thanks Melissa! I'm so glad you are enjoying my channel. Steve and I love sharing our garden and any garden tips we've learned over the years. It's nice to hear it's appreciated. Thank you. 😊🍂
Thank you! You are fortunate to have not experienced winter burn. Our Yew and Arborvitae seem to be particularly susceptible, especially if they get direct sun. When the sunlight reflects off of the snow, it's extra harsh.
Beautiful video Rosanne, autumn is very beautiful, with its wonderful colors, but also the hard work of the leaves. Thanks for all the information shared. I just injured my back and now I'm worried about all the work I have in my garden. Hugs from Tulsa, Oklahoma!
Greetings to Tulsa! This has been an exceptionally beautiful autumn 🍂. I'm so pleased you liked the video, but so sorry that you hurt your back 😟. I hope it heals soon! Your's in gardening, Rosanne
It always wonderful receiving information from you Rosanne 😊 You and Steve work in harmony. So nice knowing. I was on vacation visiting family. Came home to garden work that's screaming for attention now! With the weather, it's not easy to choose the day for. It's been so cold. Today could work being a sunny day in the 50s, but living in an Association as I do, they are out here blowing all the leaves, so I need to wait until they are done. I hope they get to me sooner than later. I want to get out there! Thank you as always my dear friend ❤️🙏 (I'm going to grab a bag to fill leaves so I can put back around my plants!!)
Hello Gina! Hope you had a nice vacation. But, wow, I know the feeling of getting back to the garden after a long absence. I am indeed fortunate that Steve encourages and helps me in the garden. It seems to take more time every year we get ready for winter. When I was younger, I longed for a larger garden. Now, I'm grateful that we don't have more! Have a wonderful holiday season 🦃.
Thank you for the video! Again, very informative and helpful content! In dry winters, we water regularly, especially young trees and bushes. I only cut back most perennials in the spring too. Greetings from Hungary, 7a zone :)
Nice to hear from you again Kata! It really goes to show how similar gardening is around the world. Gardening has a wonderful community. Greetings to Hungary!
So happy to see another video from you , I did some garden cleanup today, so many leaves coming down at a steady pace. The Calla lily info was very helpful .
I've been gardening for many years but never knew about watering trees before winter, specifically evergreens. Will make sure to do that. And I just recently discovered that it's better to leave most plants up thru the winter, even some annuals. Also to cut back annuals planted in the ground rather than pulling out. The roots aerate the soil and provide nutrients for microbes. So much to learn! On another note, I grew the same black eyed susans this year. Pretty colors but not sure if I will grow next year. Too many leaves and not enough flowers 😊 Love your garden and that shed is amazing!
Yes, gardening is a lifelong learning opportunity. I recently heard that about annuals and soil health and have been "lazy" about pulling them up since. Too bad about the leaves to flowers ratio on your Thunbergia. It is an issue for me with Morning Glories. Glad you're enjoying my channel. If you haven't already, check out my video on the Garden Shed. ruclips.net/video/vKniWeugIyc/видео.html Thanks for watching and commenting! 🍂
Thank you Heidi! We are fine. But, wow, we just got another 14 inches of snow since the last storm! Snow, snow, snow... Happy New year to you and your family as well!
You are very organized with this process. I love your fluffle of bunnies. Your garden world is so different from ours, but that makes things interesting. In S. CA, we mulch to keep early weeds down, which can crop up if we have a good rain in November. With the Holidays I'm too busy to keep after them, and by January they can be setting seed. :( I love your cardinals! So pretty. This time of year we have crows everywhere, fighting over the pecans on the trees that grow on my street. They store them in my copper rain gutters, then whack them on my roof tiles to break them open. Then there are the wild parrots that flock here, squabbling over loquats, guavas, dates, and eucalyptus flowers. It's something to see black crows circling one way, and bright green parrots the other. It's really quite noisy. Our pair of hawks just sail on the thermal above and try to stay out of the way. :)
Greetings! Your home and garden sound so exotic! (all except for the crows😉) They are the smartest and craftiest birds I've ever seen. I love the way you describe the scene - very visual. I can just see the hawks above. Glad you liked my bunnies. As always, thanks for watching and commenting.
Yay! I am so happy to hear that! You are at a wonderful stage of gardening. Enjoy the journey. My favorite quote is from a famous early 1900's horticulturist and designer, Gertrude Jekyll, "The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies" All the best in your new home and garden.
yes, it's that time of year. I'm also in a zone 4 and have been busy the past few weeks getting everything tucked away, including tenting the hydrangea and winterizing the water features. The bird feeders will go back up soon. Thanks for sharing...
You are quite welcome. We do put wire around our hydrangea, but that's it. It is interesting that you tent yours. I love water features, but my husband wasn't super enthusiastic when we talked about it years ago. But, then, I did get a shed 😉
Thanks for another great video! I'm in Minneapolis, too, and it's great to hear from sometime in my zone. I was putting down mulch this morning and then watched your video. Learned a new thing and now it looks like I can save mulching for another weekend!
Hi, I don't have a brand, but we purchased the feeder from Charleston Gardens www.charlestongardens.com/index2007.cfm We do love the feeder, but quite a few seeds do come out of the tube. The overhead roof keeps the seeds dry, and a nice lip keeps the seeds from falling to the ground. They all get eaten either way. It is a VERY popular spot for our feathered friends. Hope that helps!
hello mam, how are you? its been a year since you last upload video, i missed u mam rosannes.. love from Philippines ❤️ i hope u always safe and ok,good health always.. hope soon u have a new video about your beautiful garden and house tour❤❤❤
Greetings to the Philippines! Thank you so much for your patience and concern. I am fine. However, I do have news. My husband and I have moved to a new house and garden which is better suited for us as we grow older. It was very sad to leave the old garden, but we now have a new opportunity. I am still figuring out what I'd like to do with the garden. I'm going through the "inspiration stage" of garden planning. I do know that it will be a much smaller garden with a lot less work.
