Wow! I'm super excited about making my own loom and trying this out. I think it's awesome she's making beautiful things from scraps. For those that didn't like her scarf- I think she was planning to dye it. Very informative and inspiring. I really enjoyed her relaxed and creative vibe. Thanks.
I really like this episode-- her voice was very calming (unlike some episodes where the person giving the tutorial, while helpful, was a little grating) and the idea was simple and really neat to see.
it's the same technique we use to make scrap rugs in Sweden. My gran makes them with her red cross group, some of them are quite beautiful. I use a small rug in a frame instead of a message board. :)
I thought the scarf looked cool. I love those kind of hodgepodge kinda things. And she said she was going to dye it a differeny color. But I personally thought it was adorable, and it's something I think I would wear, when it got cold enough for scarves where I live, that is!
Holy that was so cool. I never knew it was so simple to loom, and the scarf/belt was pretty neat. =D I agree with everyone else, Corinne's scarf is purty. Great vid.
Yesterday I got my board, a 2 x 6" six foot long. Today I figured out I could put 9 screws across each end 3/4" apart. Tomorrow I'll put primer on it, then a coat of gray paint. The neutral background comes in handy when choosing color schemes. I don't have any silk, I'll have to use other fabrics or yarn.
It doesn't look good as a scarf, if she used different colors or arranged them differently it would look better. However, I can see parts of it being a decent belt so long as the right section of colors was used.
I think this would look good if you used one long roll of ribbon it would be harder to weave but you could make it all one colour and wouldn't have as many of the knots with loose ends from when the fabric was changed. I did this in primary school art class using knitting wool and it took weeks but we made little pillows and they were cool :)
Oh, I forgot to ask- do you thin that I could make a cowl using this method, or would it be too heavy (using silk and/or cotton)? Thanks for your head. You guys rock.
i love the thing that corinne is wearing around her neck... the red thing.. i'm not sure if that's part of the jacket though... i'd love to make sumthing like that on it's own
holy crap... that was pretty knifty...... I think I'll try that out. Does anyone know if there's been a video on that scarf that Corinne is wearing? I love it and have been wanting to make one like mad.
if you have a big piece of wood, like the one you have, couldn't there be rows of screws and/or holes for more screws and smaller lengths added rather than having dozens of lengths of boards for smaller things?
wait, r u talking about the maroon/burgundy one she's wearing @ the edn? cuz they already did a video on it. u should go through their videos, it looks easy.
that Asian Lady RULES! i LOVE weaving! and i have a bunch of scraps. my fabric of choice is fleece. i was quite disappointed to learn that it is NOT made from the fur of baby sheep. what a rip-off. a warm, cuddly, rip-off.

i think the scarf she made was kinda ugly, but the technique is cool!
that is probaly the ugliest thing on the face of earth. EVER
It definitely was, but the idea was interesting. She could have used prettier colors or thinner strips of fabric to make it look nicer.
time to scavenge for old fabric o_o
@IshaBeauty11 same thought. definitely pretty ugly.
