When I was a young lad around 19 or so, I was really into SRV, I had recently discovered him and the Allman Brothers and my taste of music was shifting towards the blues in a big way. I lived in Chicago and went downtown to the Bluesfest and Albert Collins was the closer on the main stage. He started playing and I was blown away. I remember thinking to myself, I hear some SRV in this guy and I think he can hold court with SRV. I bought Ice Pickin right after that and, I am glad I chose that album, it is a must for anyone interested in the blues, especially blues guitar. I saw him a couple more times and I had tickets to see him and Robert Cray, I like Robert Cray, but I was going for Albert. I got to the show and someone else came out as the opening act and I was pissed off all night. I had no idea that Albert was very sick. He died like a week later. RIP to the master of the telecaster!! I have been very blessed to see some incredible musicians, AC is very high on that list.
