That is the one thing that I miss since I moved to Florida over 10 years ago. I come from the land of twisty mountains. Although I could ride all year, I miss the close proximity to challenging roads
For anyone in Lake county, my favorite spot is a road called SE182nd Avenue Rd about 20 miles west of Altoona off of Hwy 42. Lots of good twisties. At the End of the street make a left and there are more twists that take you up to hwy 40.
Additional information about CR13 in St Johns Co. The route runs from Spuds on the south end to Julington Creek on the north end. It's about 44 miles from Spuds to the Speedway gas station. Makes a nice trip when you run it both ways plus the ride to the start. Enjoy!
Thanks for the riding tip! I'm in the Villages 7 months a year and will definitely check this ride out. More videos like this would certainly be appreciated by me 🙂 👍
A couple of cool places to stop for food near Rt. 42 is, for breakfast,” Ducks Dam Diner” and for lunch, “Gator Joes”. “Ducks Dam Diner” has real country breakfast at reasonable prices. When ordering pancakes, order one because they’re as big as a Frisbee! “Gator Joes is on Lake Weir in Weirsdale. Decent bar food and nice view of the lake. That area was famous for the shootout between The Ma Barker gang and the,”G men” (FBI) during the gangster era of the 1920’s.
P.S. There’s a great seven mile road near Ducks Dam diner called,”SE182 ave rd. “ it’s between,”Medors corner and RT. 42. It’s only seven miles but it’s a great freshly repaved rd. that skirts the forest. One of my favorite rides.
Love your videos Jerry! Off topic, my wife started using the word “doofus” today and it’s causing marital distress. Haha She’s insulting our new puppy, and it seems you’re a bad influence, my friend!! Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
You and I have similar backgrounds. I live in Sumter Co. and my wife and I ride the roads around Nobleton, Brooksville, Floral City, Webster, Hosomssassa, etc. on a regular basis. I'm grateful to live in such a beautiful place and have the opportunity to ride where most would have to pay to experience! Hope to see you at fall Daytona😊😊
I live in Citrus county and have been riding since September. I’ll have to add this to the list of places to go explore. I’ve heard that Ozello Trail is also a very nice road to ride.
Thank you Motorman for showing another twisty / curvy road. I will look to ride this in August! You have done a ride video on tail of the dragon 🐉 . Hopefully one day you and Mrs Motorman can ride in Ohio. We have the 555 or triple nickel . Also rt 800 and Rt 26 near Marion Ohio
While we can generally ride year round in FL, finding decent roads can be a challenge. I spent 30+ years in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area and there's literally no curves, elevation changes, etc. to be found except on interstate entrance ramps. Plenty of places for high speed runs but that gets boring and dangerous after a while. A number of years back, i moved further north into the Treasure Coast region- Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties- and there are some ok riding roads up here due to the Atlantic Ridge. But the best riding I've found in FL is in Lake, Sumter, Marion and Citrus counties. You'll find plenty of more 'challenging' roads than the typical flat/straight FL roads but... who the heck wants to live in CentFla? No breeze, constant and brutal humidity, population growth that's out of control, rednecks galore- no thanks. If you're going to live in FL, you gotta live near one of the coasts, period. Why else would you live in FL if not for the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf? I recently tried CentFla- north of the wretched Orlando area for 6 months- and it was a miserable place to live. They can keep it. Glad to be home again on the Treasure Coast.
Lived in Ocala for 14 years. I now live in Melbourne. Couldn't agree more. A bunch of hillbillies and no wind at all. It's the coldest and hottest place in Florida at all times. Been here for 8 years now and couldn't be happier with the people or the weather.
Have also been in Fl since the 70s. Another couple of nice rides not far from you are cr-42 from just north of Lady Lake to sr-44, and sr-40 just east of Ocala thru the forest, to the Astor area and the St Johns river. I currently live just west of St Augustine, and as mentioned in some of the other comments, cr-13 from spuds, to the julington creek area along the St Johns river is a very scenic and curvy ride also.
Highway 48 just south of Highway 44, I think it's Floral City. I used to get on that road when I delivered gasoline, coming back to Tampa empty. Looks like a fun road for a bike. Thanks for the video. I just got a 2014 eglide ultra limited. My retirement bike. Hope to bump into you some day.
One more great route is the Tomoka/Ormond Beach loop. Easy look up on the net, and probably my favorite motorcycle ride here in Florida! I've run it dozens of times in the Jeep and my bikes. You will not be disappointed!
Sure! Start on Granada Blvd (SR40) in Ormond Beach eastbound. Just before the intercoastal waterway turn left (north) onto N Beach St. Follow this north past the sugar mill ruins and Tomoka State Park about 12 miles to Walter Boardman Lane and turn right. Drive east to High Bridge Rd and turn right again. Follow High Bridge Rd to the end at A1A and turn right again! (Or right onto John Anderson Dr just before A1A) Follow A1A south back to Granada Blvd (SR40) and turn right. There are a couple of variations on this route, and I've ridden this many times over the years. From Tomoka State Park to High Bridge Rd is a shaded, tree lined route. Enjoy!
@@williamforbes5826 Thanks so much for the great detail! I keep an RV near Fort McCoy and visit several times a year, passing by Ormond Beach along the way. Will definitely check this route out. Thanks again.
@@williamforbes5826 Yep, at the KOA there. One can now access the ONF trailheads directly from the RV Park. We keep a couple of side by sides there and will sometimes take the bikes (‘20 Indian Scout Bobber and ‘22 Yamaha XSR900) to ride in that area.
Mr. Palladino, I love your videos and what you do, but I hate to break it to ya. The road in this video is flat and straight. LOL. Come to NorCal and I'll share real Twisties with ya. The roads here are amazing on a motorcycle!!! Thanks for all your videos and ride safe.
My family moved to Putnam county in August of '77. You do have to look for interesting roads. If you are up north, from Spuds,FL (really! Spuds!) to Orange Park ,FL ride along the St Johns River on CR13. Shaded, curvy, low traffic and absolutely gorgeous scenery!! Enjoy the ride! Thanks for the tips Motorman! Q: is that an Electra Glide Standard you ride? Thanks again.
Off the topic I have a question I have a 2013 Electric Glide the sound is too quiet for my taste do you have any recommendation on a set of slip-ons to make it sound a little bit like a Harley I was told maybe instead of Reinhardt what do you recommend thank you

Tell ya the truth, I like going from st augustine to destination then to cabbage patch then to main st and then the loop. I happy with that ride. If I want twist and turns I go to TN dragon or devil.
The most fun roads I’ve driven are in Europe. Also the safest. The other drivers have three digit IQs. In thousands of kilometers I’ve never seen a raked Easy Rider bike. I’ve never seen a motorcycle with no front brake and a gear shift rigged up to be a tank shift ON THE LEFT with the lever, a braised on stiletto.
Nice video to watch. The problem is most of the twisties in FL have numerous hidden driveways. Not fun even when you know the roads. Plus the danger of loose horses and deer.
The fact is Lake Mead and Lake Powell are drying up, those millions of people gotta go somewhere when the hoover damn stops providing water or electricity. Motorman likely won't live to see the effects of global warming. Good advice for doing u turns on a motorcycle, but should leave the climate science to scientists.
I keep a very close eye on the climate scientists like Al Gore, AOC, John Kerry, Obama, Biden ETC. I watch what they do rather than what they say. Oddly, they all bought mansions right on the beach where the sea rise is going to kill millions and they all fly on private jets and ride in motorcades of dozens of SUV's.
