You cant beat a golf R out of the box really, they are incredible cars especially for the price. I'm not even into German cars that much, but the golf R's are actually sick.
The reason for the base sound you were hearing was probably the sound actuator pumping sound into the cabin. Sounds cool but to invasive. I turned mine down to 50%
I’ve got the same car in 5 door.. full spec, 19inch prets, pan roof, carbon Vienna leather, race pack, nav.. in manual! Reflex silver is genuinely insane in all lighting. Even with stock 300bhp, it absolutely rips in the corners. Best hot hatch all rounder in my opinion!
@@MrCharlan1 That’s precisely why I’m buying an RS3 in a few months time 😂 I do agree with you, they are faster than the R straight off the bat, but in terms of being available in manual, economy, all weather capability etc I’d say the golf is the better all rounder. That rs3 tho 😍 definitely planning for a stage 2 build!

I’m biased as I have a Golf R myself lol. IMO the Golf R takes the edge over the S3 however it’s all up to your preference. If the cars a daily as-well as a fun car to use I’d recommend the Golf R. If you want something a little more unpredictable and raw I’d go for the 135i/140i. The Golf R though in my opinion is the ultimate daily. In normal/eco i average 25-33mpg around town and have reached up to 41mpg on the motorway.
hi man like Ricky ain't you noticed the front discs and calipers ain't the real brake setup they should have nicer looking calipers with the R sign ingraved and the discs just standard vented and not groved or drilled
Neither. M140i just fishtails all over the road when you put the hammer down. Golf type R too fast, too dear. Has to be a Fiesta ST for me in Azure blue, black alloys, black rally mudflaps. 200 brake, more than enough for UK roads and you keep your license, unbeatable handling and driver feedback. And all that fast Ford heritage.
@@richardburns5925 A stock m140i with pilot super sports doesn't even break traction when you floor it from anything above 30mph on dry roads, and I drive with DCT off in the summer. had a Fiesta ST before my m-lite and do sometimes miss it, never had a car that is so much fun for B roads.
@@conorf8091 I know! VW has lost its quality since the 70s and 80s, they are now no more reliable, trouble free and better built than anything else. In fact worse. People seem to be brainwashed and go all starry eyed when they see a VW badge. Look at the rust on a golf, especially the front wings, they rust inside out! Look at the engine problems on the T5, the fuel pump and injector problems on a diesel Polo...... That's why it's a Ford every time for me. That Golf R is faster than a Fiesta ST, in a straight line, the Fiesta will out handle it on a twisting B road.
Nice car , But …. Unfortunately with all the traction and stability aids these cars have , there not much of challenge to drive . Don’t get get me wrong love the car, just not my cup of tea. Guess having strip down, caged , straight cut dogbox, and crazy suspension cars ,everything else feels kinda numb.
