Hey "Guy on a Bike". You have no contact info in your "about" section of your youtube channel so I'm leaving a comment as a way to reach out.
I'm considering moving to Barrie. The town I currently live in is fairly "bike friendly" (lot's of dedicated bike lanes with painted lines and a few protected bike lanes on some of the major streets. Also has a shared path through the centre of town that enables you to get almost anywhere with very litttel vehicle interaction. Does Barrie put cycling at the bottom of the priority list seeing as it is historically a commuter town that used to be entirely carcentric. Let me know. Cheers.

Hey Ian; Barrie talks a big game about “active transportation” but in practice it’s not so good. There are quite a few painted bike lanes but they will start and stop at random. There is no inter-connected bike lane route and at this point no separated or buffered bike lanes. I’ve bike commuted forever with or without bike lanes but I’ll use them when I can. Hope this helps. Ride safe!

@@guyonabike3103 Newmarket is very forward thinking regarding active transportation/public transit. I've all but pulled the trigger to buy a condo in Barrie so hopefully climate change (in the political realm) will start to change their priorities in the next 2-5 years. thanks for the feed back.
