    I’ve never heard a man rave so much about a hifi product he’s not heard yet. I’m going to start raving about the Sharpe QDEL, due to hit the UK market in 2026. I’ve not seen it yet, but my experience with other Sharpe products reassures me of its excellence.

      Hello Howard, I appreciate your insightful comment. My excitement for the Electrocompaniet AW300M Mono Amplifiers is primarily due to its technological alignment with the AW800. The AW800 has proven itself to be a remarkable amplifier in 2023, setting a high benchmark. I've discussed the technical specifications in the video to give a sense of what this means.
      Electrocompaniet products never fail to impress with their musicality, robust build, and enduring quality. As I mention in the video, owning an Electrocompaniet product is a matter of pride. This new model is based on the proven AW800 (a 2x300w stereo), which is why I'm highly confident about its sound performance.
      However, I am completely open to differing opinions and experiences. If this product doesn't live up to expectations, I'd welcome the opportunity to reassess my views. Thanks for engaging, Howard. Cheers, Mark.

    $15,000 for 300 wpc is excessive. Schiit Vidar in mono puts out 400 rms into 8 ohms for $800.

    • @EliteAudioUK
      @EliteAudioUK  7 месяцев назад +4

      Hello, I appreciate your comment and understand where you're coming from. The Schiit Vidar undoubtedly offers impressive performance at a fraction of the cost. However, when it comes to high-end audio, price and power output aren't always directly correlated.
      High-end amplifiers, even those that cost over £30k, aren't just about wattage. They're about the quality of components, design, build quality, and ultimately the sound characteristics they deliver. For instance, the Audio Research Reference 160M monoblock amplifier, despite its hefty price tag, is renowned for its exceptional audio performance.*
      While high wattage can drive larger speakers and deliver louder volumes, it doesn't necessarily guarantee superior sound quality. Factors such as signal-to-noise ratio, total harmonic distortion, and damping factor also play a crucial role in determining an amplifier's sound quality.
      In the realm of audio, it's not uncommon to find low-powered amplifiers that are highly sought after for their unique sound signatures. It's all about finding the right balance that suits your personal preference and the specific audio system setup.
      Remember, the 'best' amplifier isn't necessarily the one with the most power or even the highest price tag, but the one that delivers the sound you love.
      Cheers
      Mark :)

    I would buy 2 Benchmark's AHB2 for bridged mono, price $7000 US for both. The dynamic range of the AHB2 is 132 dB, making it 10 to 30 dB quieter than some of the very best reference-quality power amplifiers. 200 Watts Bridged Mono into 16 Ohms
    380 Watts Bridged Mono into 8 Ohms
    480 Watts Bridged Mono into 6 Ohms.

    • @EliteAudioUK
      @EliteAudioUK  7 месяцев назад

      Good morning :)
      Thanks for your comment and interest in the Benchmark's AHB2. There's no doubt that the AHB2, especially in bridged mono mode, offers impressive specifications at a competitive price point, making it an appealing choice for many.
      However, when considering the Electrocompaniet AW300M mono amplifiers, it's important to note that they bring a unique blend of quality and performance. They boast Electrocompaniet's direct-coupled high open-loop bandwidth topology, which is now enhanced with high slew-rate and extended bandwidth amplifier. This offers a remarkable sonic experience that many audiophiles greatly appreciate.
      Furthermore, these amplifiers are engineered to perfection within their Scandinavian haven and promise a symphony of sound that follows in the footsteps of the AW 800 M. The price reflects the meticulous design, superior materials, and exceptional craftsmanship that goes into each unit.
      While the dynamic range and power output of the AHB2 are indeed compelling, the overall listening experience is also heavily influenced by factors such as tonal balance, soundstage, and the emotional connection that the equipment can create with the music.
      In summary, while the Benchmark's AHB2 may be a more cost-effective option, the Electrocompaniet AW300M mono amplifiers offer a unique listening experience that justifies their price point for those seeking the utmost in audio reproduction.
      Thanks again, its appreciated.

      Good morning and thank you for the comment. Thank you also for hte feedback on our channel, we really appreciate the positive feedback and you opinion really means a lot. :)
      To give some perspective and without meaning to state the obvious, a stereo amplifier, and a monoblock amplifier each have unique characteristics and advantages. A stereo amplifier is a single unit that contains two separate channels for left and right audio, making it a more compact solution compared to two individual monoblock amplifiers.
      In terms of cost-effectiveness and simplicity, a stereo amplifier often takes the lead. However, if superior audio quality is your priority and budget is not a constraint, a monoblock amplifier emerges as the clear choice.
      Here's the reason why.
      Normally in a stereo amplifier, the signal paths share the same unit, transformers, and power supply. This shared arrangement may lead to crosstalk, introducing unwanted noise, interference, and noticeable distortion in the signal path.
      For an optimal audio experience, a pair of matched monoblock amplifiers is often recommended over a stereo amplifier. This setup offers better channel separation and reduces potential interferences. It also costs more to produce (even having two separate chassis alone has a price differenetial)
      However, it's important to note that in some cases, a well-performing stereo power amp or integrated amp can outperform a less efficient set of monoblock amplifiers. However in this case the two AW300M should in theory outperform a single AW800 (That's also the findings of the manufacturer) The choice between a monoblock and a stereo amplifier ultimately depends on your specific needs, priorities, and budget.

    The price of those amps vs. the quality and parts is an insult to common sense. There's a few hundred worth of parts in a case that doesn't even represent the price. Ridiculous.

    • @EliteAudioUK
      @EliteAudioUK  7 месяцев назад +4

      Thank you for your comment and sharing your perspective. It's true that the raw materials of an amplifier, like the Electrocompaniet AW300, may not seem to justify the high price tag at first glance. However, there are many factors that contribute to the final cost of a high-end audio product.
      Firstly, the design and engineering of these amplifiers are undertaken by some of the best minds in the industry, with years of experience and expertise. This level of craftsmanship is not cheap, and it's part of what you're paying for.
      Secondly, the quality of components goes beyond their basic cost. High-end audio manufacturers often use custom-made or specially selected parts to achieve the sound characteristics they're after. These components are rigorously tested and often hand-assembled, which adds to the cost.
      Thirdly, research and development (R&D) is a significant part of high-end audio manufacturing. The technology and innovations in these amplifiers are the result of years of R&D, and those costs are factored into the price.
      Lastly, customer service, warranty, and after-sales support also play a part in the pricing. When you buy a high-end product like the Electrocompaniet AW300, you're also buying peace of mind knowing that the company stands behind its product.
      While it's true that high-end audio isn't for everyone, for those who value the subtle differences in sound quality and the craftsmanship that goes into these products, it can be worth the investment. I hope this provides some insight into the pricing of high-end audio equipment.
      Cheers
      Mark :)

      @@EliteAudioUK Yes, it's true that design costs money, but I still call it a ripoff. This company has a lot of experience and knowledge, enabling them to design at an adequate and relatively inexpensive pace. Hand assembly is simply a choice and not a valid reason to increase the cost; besides, "hand assembly" with something like this is just screwing and and maybe soldering pieces together. It's not like this is fine wood working. Looking at the build quality of these and calling it a high level of craftsmanship is pushing it quite hard. Also, calling this an investment is a joke, as it's not like you'll get a positive financial return.
      Saying high-end audio isn't for everyone seems like a bit of a condescending comment honestly. By that, do you mean it's only if you can afford it? Those without the financial means to pay for products like this aren't as worthy? I doubt you do, but the rhetoric around this hobby is old, pathetic, and full of snake oil slogans.
      I've been an audiophile since the late 80's, currently with Focal and Classe and Esoteric. I have friends in sales and the industry itself, and frankly, the cost of much of it is simply not justified by any reason, however I do realize and agree that it comes down to what the market will support. One of my friends it retail at a high end shop thinks products like this are great, because you only have to make a couple of sales a month to stay profitable. What does that tell you? It's gotten out of hand, and we really need to look at what we're actually getting and stop supporting such avarice.

      @@parkersgarage4216 Being an audiophile is like a type of addiction; I think it feeds OCD. I include myself in this camp, but over the years, I've learned so much about the industry, sound, and just getting back to the music. Although I'm knocking the price/value here, I do say all the more power to any company that can pull it off. Unfortunately, much of the industry is simply perceived value and not real value. I've seen retail price lists from companies as well, from my friend that works in a high-end store, and it's astonishing what the markup is on most things. I'll give you couple of examples: Monster cable-73% Esoteric-100%. If you pay 10K for an Esoteric CD player, the store paid 5K. That markup is for their entire line. I don't really care, but you can see how the higher the price, the higher the profit. This is how a retail store can take your trade, giving you a discount on a more expensive purchase; the trade-in usually isn't even on the books, easily covered by the, "discount" your getting, meaning your trade is resold for straight profit, or, in my friends case, he just took them home for free.

      Good morning and thank you for your comment. It's understandable to have reservations about the price point of the Electrocompaniet AW300 mono amplifiers, especially given their premium positioning in the market.
      The cost of high-end audio equipment often goes beyond the physical components. The AW300, for instance, represents decades of research and development, meticulous design, and extensive testing to ensure the highest standard of sound reproduction. These factors, among others, contribute significantly to the product's final price.
      Additionally, Electrocompaniet's reputation for quality and craftsmanship is well-established in the audio industry, and their products are often seen as an investment. Their amplifiers are known for their longevity and consistent performance over time, which can provide value that extends far beyond the initial purchase.
      It's also important to note that high-end audio is a niche market. The pricing reflects not just the cost of production, but also the unique experience these products provide for audiophiles who are passionate about the subtleties of sound and willing to invest in that experience.
      That being said, we understand that these products may not be within everyone's budget or preference. There are many other excellent amplifiers available at lower price points that also deliver great sound quality. Ultimately, the 'best' amplifier is one that meets your personal needs, preferences, and budget.
      We appreciate your engagement and welcome any further questions or comments you might have!
      Cheers.
