I love the anthologies on this thread. Mr Rudgren is surely a poetic philosopher. Life is a journey that is full of questions that are followed by the answers that each one of us search for based on our reality at the time the question appears to us. Deep insightfulness and patience appears to be a continuous travel into time and the moment utilized.
Rundgren should have been in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame years ago, and they better get him in there soon. Not that he respects the award all that much, but because people need to hear his tremendous body of work.
Todd is the best! He is nominated for the 2019 R&R Hall Of Fame and he deserves to be in there! You can vote for him daily until Dec.9th here: www.rockhall.com/fanvote
"I don't practice any formal sort of religion but.....I'm very comfortable with a lot of Buddhist philosophy mostly because it doesn't dwell on questions about the personality of the creator as so many religions do....So when people ask me if I'm an atheist I say no, I just don't think we can understand the nature of what's at the bottom of all existence. It doesn't hurt us to think about it but when you become absolutely sure that you know, you're about as far away as you can possibly get."
I completely agree with you. I would figure that he feels blessed with the talent he has (been given). On top of it, he's got soul and expresses it so well in nearly everything he does. That soul...that feeling of love...how can it be explained without believing in something more, no matter what that "more" may be. Todd's music is great because he does talk about love, faith, curiosity, and doubt....and in the end, above all, faith and love of the common man. God bless Todd. Peace out.
This is one of the greatest songs of the 21st Century! Check out the remarkable studio version on Todd's "Liars" album. Deep, thoughtful and beautiful. My only issue - why did it take so long for Todd to finally realize there is no god?
I once went to a concert where the person in front of me was being that type of an asshole where he was talking constantly, loudly to the person next to him while Nickel Creek was on stage playing. I tapped him on the shoulder rather hard and shouted: "these guys are playing their hearts out here. Go to the lobby if you want to talk. He shut up until he finally moved altogether. I love Todd R. and have been a fan since the Nazz days.
I have seen this tour in Cleveland, Oh. It was unbelievable, and of course there were some jerks in the audience as well that needed to get over theirselves. Todd is a true talent, love this cd.
god that was a great tour ... really loved the Liars. HOB in NOLA was a great venue ... the floor was vibrating. Todd & freinds are going to be there again Dec. 5, 2007
My favorite TR song! His voice is still incredible. Listen to him hit that note just perfect at 02:00. I think TR is THE most vital artist today. To call him "Genius" is just a drop in the ocean.
I saw this gig at The Egg in Albany, NY (the place where they filmed the DVD of the tour). There was no chattering. People who talk during live music performances should go drink somewhere else (yes, they're often plastered). I've seen Todd 10 times or so. It was the best (Todd show, or live rock show) ever. Ihadn't heard the studio album yet at that point, so it was so fresh and absorbing.
I agree with dracsspago's comment way below. Hearing that note at 2.00...it's even noticing little moments like that that make being a music and Todd fan extra special.
How awful to publish a bootleg of the Mastery works of Todd from a cellphone in the audience with crowd noise distorting on top of a horrendous audio recording in the first place. Especially when Todd published the entire live show with professional quality for his fan base like myself to appreciate. Do us proud fans a favor and delete this unauthorized and spectacle from RUclips.
The fucking rock n roll hall of fame is a joke! Since when has rock been about a hall of fame and corporate recognition who cares! not the real spirit of it any way. thanks for the post.

You should see him this year--he looks fantastic.
He still looks fantastic in 2021!

I saw this song played live in at Freebird's in Jacksonville Beach FL. It certainly commanded the audiences undivided attention.

I was at this gig. Was an excellent concert. Even Todd and the band were surpised about how well they were received.

I was thinking that same thing. Such a beautiful song ruined a little bit by the people who can't be quiet... 🙄🥺

My dad comes in my apartment and reads it.lol
its okay honey, when YOU grow up, you'll have them too
the concert is in Scotland - now do you get it?
So sad what I justed saw
andy partridge should try this song. There are similar vocal stylings here. I can hear Andy singing the chorus in my head.
Despite his own beliefs (or lack thereof), Todd Rundgren and his talent are yet further proof of the existence of God.
Glasgow, Scotland. You know...kilts.
