In the interview i believe Steve says while discussing the alfalfa fields that he was "lucky" in getting into his musical career. I'm not sure that it was luck but rather his raw talent. Everyone needs a bit of luck in their life but we see Steve's real humble side here. Love this man his passion, his smarts, his good looks and of course his voice. What a blessing for us to be born at the right time and experience him sharing his gift. Rock on Steve we love you ❤
"Steve is Still Here" You cannot keep an excellent vocalist/songwriter/performer down. So HAPPY to hear and see Steve Perry again. Thank you Kellie for helping Steve get back into music. It is in his soul to sing and we are so grateful you have come back to your fans. We love you!!
i understand how he feels at my age almost 68 yrs old i tend to go into the past thinking about all the years when i was young all the way up until now.. about the smell of spring and summer.. i look at life differantly because when you get our age you wonder where time went . your young and now we are older.. and a i set out side or i will go back to where i went to grade school. or even music will take me back. thank you Steve for being here for us.. and bringing memories back to us.. we are still here for you and will always love you.
Steve Perry is one of my HERO's.....in 1997 I discovered JOURNEY. His voice and performance was astounding.....He is still an absolute performer and vocalist....a real talent !!! I wish those days would return !
Passion, for music, for living, and for love. The man is on fire, we're all still here, oh happy day! I can't play Traces enough, best music in a very long time.
I love his laughter! When he laughs, it makes me smile! That, and when he laughs. his beautiful eyes twinkle! Just gorgeous! I loved this interview!! He was just amazing! I was just awestruck listening to him speak! I just adore this man, and I have for over 41 years now! Okay, I'm done!
I love Steve Perry he is so honest and sweet and I'm so happy that he finally came out with Traces and I think that he is one of the greatest singers of all time
I admire and have been a long-time fan of Steve Perry, He's a very gifted/talented man. Comment on the remark, " come back", I say come back from what, he never left. His talent has always been there.
Very interesting about how he explains about the difference with the way the younger generation interprets music and the difference today from his day and the passion. I love the camera on the hood of the car, that was a wonderful effect, It was more personal and I am tickled about him saying he had to watch not to run over someone, I love the humor. I agree on the word comeback, You are a new you and you are not the guy in the day, everyone evolves through the years of there life and experience different stages. Lol on the Alfalfa Fields Forever and love to listen to Steve laugh about that. A duet with Sade!!! OMG I love her, what a treat that would be!!! Very awesome interview! Thank you Steve Perry and Jim Brickman for getting Steve on your show.
Comeback!!! He’s never been forgotten! 30 years out the limelight and he put a new recording out and people went into a frenzy!! People might not like the album but they are so happy that he decided to step back into the music arena! I love everything and waiting for new music and maybe a stage show like what he did with the Eels.
Please Steve do another album,it would be great to get new music,I thought Traces was an incredible album and you put your whole heart into it,it has so much love and compassion in it,I love it.
Great Interview: Always enjoy hearing two musicians speak and share their similar experiences: Only Musicians truly know the language of the all encompassing business of Music and how that affects you both positively and negatively: The Pros/the Cons and the need for rejuvenation and inspiration outside such a tough business. No, your creativity and amazing musical gifts never truly end when you decide to live and breathe and take some time to smell the roses or to feel the cool breezes of those Alfalfa Fields vs. just record/perform/tour and do it all over again and again. Appreciate both your contributions Jim and Steve to my life via your incredible music. You leave an indelible mark on our lives as your music truly is timeless and beautiful. Live, Laugh, Love and Be Happy and go where the wind and the music, life takes you!
I love listening to Steve Perry's interviews cause he teaches us so much about music and tells us how he REALLY FEELS. And that is a very good thing cause WE get a "real personal" great interview from him!!!
I had the privilege of meeting Steve in 2019 at a private event and I love hearing his stories and his sense of humor is off the chain. I could listen to him speak all day every day. He is also a very beautiful, humble and generous person. When he talks to you he leans in and is totally engaged! It is still the best day ever!
This I think is Steve's little piece of heaven. He's definitely finding this is how it should be now . He's his own Boss and that's the way it should be, simply because he can sing what he wants , he can sing the songs that he likes and in general run his own life just as he wants too. That doesn't take away from his time with Jouney, it's just how much more comfortable he is in his own Skin.🎼♥️🇦🇺♥️🇺🇸
For a half second he did mention the solo album/project...that's good. A step in the right direction. Don't discount FOR THE LOVE OF STRANGE MEDICINE Steve. It was brilliant. Dr. P it is!
I can’t say it enough...what a wise man! I’m always impressed by his perspectives and ability to express his thoughts. I wish I witnessed the filming of his “We’re Still Here”, music video. 🥰❤️
Such a wonderfully beautiful and honest interview between 2 great musicians!😍🎶💕 I have been a big fan of Journey and Steve Perry for years and came into contact with Jim's music through this interview!! Fantastic 🎶🎹♥️
Thinking about the interviews with Steve over the years, he's always had great insights and a certain way how he describes the topic at hand. Sometimes it's like we're sitting at his feet listening to him talk about the deeper things about living and then he has that giggle and laugh that is so childlike :D Thank you Jim for bringing your musical background into play so we have more understanding of what musically enhanced talents experience behind-the-music. Steve seems to grow in expression with each new experience and shares it so personally with everyone who will listen and hear. Sade! What a masterful concept for Steve and Sade to sing together! Now I'm curious as to who else Steve would love to sing with! Thank you both for an enjoyable half hour and an enlightening one at that :) There are plenty of new songs weaving away in that musical mind of his.. living and experiencing does lead to creativity!
@@rtc931 You're right Richard. I had collected all of the interviews for my own perusal but many have been recently lost to the vapors! Too bad we've not been prescient enough to have made transcripts of each one. One of his FTLOSM interviews he did reference singing with Sade. But it still makes me curious as to who else he'd enjoy singing with :D
After hearing October in NY I really want Steve to do a whole Pavarotti and Friends type of album. Perry and Friends with Portuguese language and Orchestra. At 7:30 talking Pavarotti I know Steve is starting to think about this. If Aretha Franklin can fill in for Luciano and sing in Italian then Steve can do what I am thinking. It's an idea I've had since hearing Andrea do Sogno. Everyone pay attention. I'm betting that's where things are going. He can even do a back and forth vocally with his current voice and his young voice from the demo of his song for his Mom. This would be Grammy worthy and a tearjerker I'm sure!
Not only is he a good conversation & articulate, well speaking but he's so passionate & honest with a great sense of humor! He even has a great voice when he laugh's & talk's! You go steve, keep your passion alive, we all love your music-always have, we would love to get another album from you in the near future, love ya always steve
Come back to what? My thoughts exactly. I hope he never saw what I've written on his page before, so glad you came back to us Steve but I meant that in a different way. No one can go back or come back to what they once were. Love you Steve....you are so awesome!!!
It was interesting listening to Steve talk about referring to himself in the 3rd person in regards to performing. I’d never heard that before! Loved the entire interview.
One of the best interviews ever. Thanks Jim. It really is an eye opener to learn how this lifestyle can take a toll on someone. Something I never even thought about. I am very happy that Steve re-surfaced and found his passion for music again. He can still treat us with his hauntingly beautiful voice (without all the hectic touring) and I absolutely love his idea of a collaboration with Sade.
Interesting question about writing within your range and what can affect your voice. Sleeping, drinking water, allergies, etc. Never thought about that before.
I could listen to Steve talk all day ❤ I'd love to see him do a one night only of "Reflections" not something called a comeback. Something on AXIS OR MTV possibly a Pay per view? That way he could keep the studio audience small and comfortable, as stress free as he wants. Sing his music, talk about production and the process he undertakes. I'd love something like that! What a gem interview.Steve is so articulate smart funny and .passionate about this music. He looks happy and at peace. I would love to see a duet /ballad with Sarah McLachlan Shania Twain or Kd Lang . Forever fan ‘81💙🎶

why can't Steve accept that he is one of the great unique voices in the music business today, and that he is indeed a legend. Come on Steve.
I think he does. But he doesn't flaunt it, he's humble, introspective❤🔥🤙=^..^=
He is definitely legendary.
Love to hear him laugh. Looking forward to whatever is around the next corner, be it more new music, or possibly a few live shows. ♥️
Looks like we have to start a campaign to get Sade to do a duet. Then things will get very interesting.
Well he finally released his Christmas album “The Season”! Great album! Happy 73rd Birthday Steve Perry 1/22/22
Your fans are still here. I love your music and pray that you will continue to do it.

He said he wanted to do a Sade duet when he did an interview back in 1994. There was a link on this video, but it was deleted overnight.
@@rtc931 You're right Richard. I had collected all of the interviews for my own perusal but many have been recently lost to the vapors!

January 22,1949 Happy Birthday Steve.....72. Whoo hooo!!
Interesting question about writing within your range and what can affect your voice. Sleeping, drinking water, allergies, etc. Never thought about that before.
His answer was similar on the Dan Rather interview. Nice to know he's human. LOL
And Mr. Perry, thank you for honoring your promise and answering so many prayers for us fans! Never forget that we'll always be here! We love you!
