    I love this video. It helps me understand the ball spin. Now I know how this pros does it. They’re amazing. I wish I can hit like them. I have the idea.

    I find it helpful when you identify which Club or Wedge you're using at the moment in these Videos, Michael.
    I guessed 58° in the first part of this Video.

    What degree of wedges are you using?

  • @TourUser9630
    @TourUser9630 4 года назад

    24:53 - Further than you wanted? 49.6 yards carry and 50.1 yards total when your stated goal was 50 yards doesn't sound like "further than you wanted" to me.

    We've missed you Michael. Is this SIM in your home or at a studio? These days everybody and their grandad is either building a home gym or a home SIM. Myself included.

    I understand and appreciate the point of being versatile with the pitching wedge and other clubs. But what is the REAL reason for not choosing, say, gap or sand wedge (for more spin and higher trajectory) and 9 iron (more roll and lower)? Is it because of the bounce or simply because it is easier to remain stable rhythm-wise or else? Thanks.

      I think for us amateurs it's all about a shot you can actually hit consistently. Which is your most comfortable shot in that situation? I certainly don't have good control over the backspin, nor do I know how to read the lie well. If a sand bunker is not in the way I might just bump it from 50 yards with a hybrid.

    Great video! Yesterday had similar shot and the lack of forearm rotation really made all the difference. Prior to the video, my shot would roll forward an extra 5-10 feet. Not this time - landed about 5 yards beyond the hole and spun back a foot. Loved it!
    Question - what degree wedge did you use?
    Again, thanks for the video!

    This is an excellent followup to your previous video on spinning your wedges ruclips.net/video/UwVDDRieOc0T/видео.htmlhis one give more detail on what it means to go back low and follow through low. Thanks. This is gold.
    I have two questions:what role do ground conditions play at setup? Does this technique work better off a soft lie or hardpan or it doesn't matter.What role do green conditions play? Does this work better on poa annua and bent grass and not so much on Bermuda?
    Thanks for the great videos.

    Mike, nice instruction, however, you're introducing too many variables: backspin rate, clubface angle, trajectory, carry distance and rollout. Too much to remember on the course. We need KISS, Keep It Simple Stupid, for guys like me. Dick Stockton teaches two techniques: high shot and low shots. Now THAT'S simple. What is valuable in your video is the SWING TECHNIQUE for pitching, although that could use more detail. E.g., what angle does the club descend into the ball? I chunk a lot. How much wrist break on the backswing? How to calculate rollout distance? Technique for short side or long side? Your instructions on swing are top notch, but this video is trying to sell me a simulator, and you caveat everything by telling us to practice. Please give me simple swing key thought I can remember under pressure. Loved your show, and your instructions. Keep it up!
