- Let's talk about some easy tips and tricks for people to defeat Pokemon Nuzlocke Challenges! I've played nuzlockes for a long time, and want to help you guys get more victories. :)

Hey Andrew I'm doing a platinum nuzlocke rn. My starter was arceus so I was so psyched to finally have a good chance at winning the run. What I didn't realize was it was randomly given the ability slow start and within 3 mins I got waxed by a level 7 gible with dragon rage. FML
lol dragon rage is indeed a bitch
I love how most people didnt even know that crits do double damage and high roll crits are even worse 😳
Well, starting gen 6 they do 1.5 and yuh high roll crits are.. yikes

i would love to play alot of nuzlocks
however.
i do not have the patience to farm and grind
exp when you struggle alot wich nuzlocks makes sure you do.
and all the more so in rom hacks.. and so i would need rare candies.
but i find no proper way to implement it into the game.
even tho i see both streamers and youtubers have 1k rare candies evry game.

Decided to do Nuzlocke for Blue and am slowly learning to love Geodude. Early game switch to no sell Normal damage is really nice.
"no sell" is the only way I will refer to not very effective hits from here on in :P
and yes! Rock types in the early game are broken, ESPECIALLY in the first few gens. One of the more important tips out there I think!
@@legacyandrew I am not too familliar with Gen 1, but I will say it did screw me out of a Pidgey I intended to use since it failed to learn Sand Attack by gaining 2 levels. And currently am not too sure on team I want to foster until disaster strikes. Ivysaur, Nidoqueen, Drowsee, Magikarp, Meowth and Geodude is what I have, but having two mons weak to Psychic is not longterm sustainable with Sabrina and Rivals Alakazam existing.
Snorlax is a decent shut down to alakazam, try it out 😁
@@legacyandrew Managed to finish it, but Snorlax I intended to substitute Persian with, died from careless play. In the end another Psychic countered a Psychic with Hypnosis and Psychic lowering Special. And Gyarados is a monster, Thunderbolt and Icebeam in one Pokemon is scary good.
EDIT: Also my NIdoqueen until I versatilized her Movepool with TMs and Surf, only had Bodyslam and didn't need much else most of the time.
ngl, I popped of when I saw set mode and no items because I find item and switch nuzlockes boring. I'm new to the channel but I will definitely try some of these series'
Glad you enjoy it man! No items + set is definitely the only way to play in my opinion. Everything else is far too boring like you said.
@@legacyandrew I always play with set, but no items just sounds like it's nearly impossible. I've never been able to beat a standard nuzlocke without abusing items sometimes.

@@legacyandrew I've been considering a nuzlocke where I can't buy items other than Repels or Pokeballs from shops and have to limit myself to what I find on the ground, seems like a decent way to ease into it.
Definitely a good way to ease into it! Keep practicing and you'll get it! And of course, I have two videos for tips and more coming in the future to help ya out 😉

I tried my first nuzlocke of X and wiped to Wikstrom in the E4, He was the last one I fought and he obliterated my team! I'm going to try my best to keep these tips in mind for future nuzlockes.
Keep grinding homie. You got this! Just like everything else, practice makes perfect. Don't forget to check out all 4 videos in this series to get as many tips as ya can, and keep an eye out for Part 5 coming soon 😁♥️
Tip: if you have a Pokémon that dies, (preferably in the elite four) keep an evolvable (but not evolved) nincada. Then if a team member dies, use that. Then level it up once and evolve it.
Definitely a cool tip. Not sure how people how Nuzlocke rules would apply to it though, considering you're getting two encounters for one. Will have to run it by a few people 😅
@@legacyandrew well I mean it’s not YOUR fault that game freak made a Pokémon with two evolutions! It should technically count since it’s only one encounter when caught

Thnx, the type balancing was common sense that i definitely needed because im an idiot, I lost to Maxies Camerupt in my Omega Ruby run because I had no water types💀
Water is a fantastic attacking type and definitely something you wanna pick up asap!

Also a crit goes through any attack lowers you have done so if a Pokemon does 2 damage to you at -6 attack

I would have 1 glass canon, 3 bulks, and 2 support Pokémon.
Or 1 glass canon and 5 bulky that also bring support.
All depends on what you're offered at the end of the day. As long as you know what type of team you have and play to it's strengths 🤘🏻

I had a dratini in my first fire red nuzlocke and I was new and failed to forgot that the ice type elite four member had a jinx with ice punch and crit my dragonite. Good times

Also those trainers with those random explosion Pokemon are very annoying they killed my starters so much when I started nuzlockes then I just started to google the moves and Pokemon of every random trainer on the game
2:35 nice tip man but glass canons like alakazam are useful too I'm pretty sure its the strongest physic type that isn't a legendary
you've always gotta take every pokemon into consideration, and mons like 'Zam can definitely carry a run, but if you load your team with 6 Zams you're gonna get swept by a snorlax ;)

Came here after my first nuzlocke attempt failed (alpha sapphire 5th gym, man I hate slakings) and since I already spent the entire day playing alpha sapphire I started white 2. These tips helped a lot, along with FlygonHG I think I could get this down, I think I just need to stick to one game and learn it inside and out.

Crits went from 2x to 1.5x in Gen 6 😢

Nuzlockes are easy if you grind...
Nuzlocke rules I've seen:
-Can only catch first encounter per route.
-Release/box any fainted Pokemon.
That's it.
You can grind and it's really easy. I'm surprised you didn't mention grinding since it makes your Pokemon relatively OP.
Tip: Figure out your chroma key on whatever you're using. The finger phasing is unsettling.
Otherwise good video.
Most people these days put level caps on relative to the next gym leader's ace, which is what I tend to do in my runs.
And yeah getting the chroma right is tough with such a low budget set up but it's getting better 👌🏻

Question about games that have a game corner/casino and have Pokémon as rewards are these part of the free Pokémon or should these be regarded as something else?
The rules vary. Nuzlockes are a lot like beer pong, where there are certain rules that can be added or removed depending on what house you're at lol. In our nuzlockes, I usually treat game corner pokemon as a gift/static encounter, meaning you can still get an encounter in the city itself at the pond.

I feel like sandslash is low mid tier. I haven't played many gens, but in the early gens, Geodude and Nidoran are always around it and make better options for your tanky ground type imo. Add to that its movepool isnt great and yeah, it almost always sits in the box in my playthroughs. Oh yeah for randomizer, i guess it can shine more!

BTW I play with an extra rule with if one of my Pokemon dies and I run into it in another route dupes clause is removed
You could do that starly and staraivia are very common throughout platinum /diamond /pearl
Or you could just use crobat its an amazing Pokemon with a lot of coverage moves it can also learn fly
But if you don't wanna grind friendship staraptor is the way

Always gotta try to calculate the risk of a crit! It's a higher chance than we realize 😅
i did my first ever nuzlocke which ended miserably, not because i got wiped to a trainer or gym leader but because some of my good party member died one by one during grinding because i fast forward and i didn't pay attention, i was tilted then i got a shiny to then i decided to just fuck it imma just continue the game normally instead of resetting lol

hey man, great video! Will definitely keep in mind! Im actually currently playing a pokemon emerald nuzlocke and im getting more and more anxious about entering the late game part of my run (i just beat winona and her damn altaria). Is there some good info i should know before going any further or is it more just trial and error at this point of the game? i got pretty consistent at everything up until after beating normand but i feel like im missing something... Do i just go for it and hope for the best? 980th subscriber btw only 20 more!!!!
Emerald late game is an exciting time! After you do the team aqua stuff, the entire eastern/south eastern area of the game opens up, meaning you can catch like 10 mons in a row! I usually prep my Elite 4 team at that point.
Also, Gym #7 can be super difficult depending on your party. Double battles suck, be careful!

Bulky Pokémon is the reason I beat my volt white 2 nuzlocke after 20 attempts suicune snorlax and meganium carried me
Honestly I think meganium is criminally underrated
Here's my added tips if u encountered a poison type Pokemon and ur so far away from a poke center Always run away from it aswell try not encountering so much gible/gabite/garchomp/and many other poison types always buy many antidote anti paralyze Super potions etc btw for me i always win nuzlockes by out levelling my Pokemons and I make a priority list that I only train alot are only my op Pokemons that can stand a chance and aswell Saving up money so in case of emergency I'll buy pots

I did a nuzlocke of blossom of the soul and i lost!!
Why?! I was needed to catch a criminal named the crobat kid. And when i dound him he ran away i tought he gone to the other city that u can battle the gym in like its the third. Or the fourth. So i gone there. My sandslash starter had like 21 hp, but i was keeping him in the battlw bcz vicitini was send out and hes fire type. He out speed me and killed mike. after the gym. I challenge the fourth gym. And some time after that theres a rival baytle. And what toke me down was tyruntrum. A ROCK TYPE

Why wouldn't you replace Dragonite with Rayquaza in your example if your reasoning is resistances? Rayquaza has a higher Attack and much higher Sp. Attack, is faster, and comparable bulk.

Where can I learn more about the terminology? I feel like such a noob, even though I have been a fan of Pokémon since the beginning and played almost every game, I have never nuzlocked and I want to try it out but Idk much about much strategic planning cause all I do is over-level a TON and stack heavy hit abilities. I guess I have a ton of glass cannons hahaha
A lot of the terminology is just gained from years of experience and such, but a lot of it comes from other video games as well.
A glass cannon is a mon that hits really hard, but can't take much of a hit back. A good example would be Greninja. :)

I've played a couple of ROM/Hacks that have some level caps and later gen mechanics and it's hard!

And also when ur playing a randomizer nuzlocke I recommended not catching rare Pokemons yet start why? Cuz they have low chance rate of getting catch which turning you into a moron that ran out of pokeballs try catching a Sandshrew/Pidgey/starly/ and other Pokemons that have a good move set every level/evolutions/ oh btw try catching a ambipom cuz it's so speedy and even out speeds a torterra

I recently tried an x nuzlocke and got to the elite four i beat the water chamber and just got wiped in the fire chamber and had to start over so hopefully this helps

We just finished X ourselves on the stream recently! We did our super hard mode nuzlocke for it and we did it in 3 runs. Hopefully you can get it on Run #2!

okay....but how do I catch a beefy pokemon at the start of Emerald when the grass just gives me the bug for my first encounter?
Gotta make due with what you get 😁 you get many encounters before the first gym in Emerald, so hopefully some of them can help you on your way.
