It’s so nice that you’ve recognised the cost of your groceries. I’m a single person and due to the cost of living I don’t have £200 a month for groceries and if finding it difficult to make protein rich meals when how little money I have is dictating my shopping. Would be ace to see if you could do a ‘budget week’ to see what you can do with £25 a week
Try going vegan for a week! I know it seems daunting but you would honestly be so surprised at how much cheaper it is (contrary to popular opinion). Been vegan for 2 years and my weekly food shop at Aldi is £15-25 a week, depending on what meals I’m making & snacks I’m planning on having. Eg apples and peanut butter is cheaper than a bag of peanuts for example, and choosing things like vegan ‘sausages’ is obviously more expensive than cooking with beans as the protein source. My weekly food shop used to be around £10-15 before the cost of living crisis, just for a better picture. Meat and dairy are CRAZY expensive, don’t know why more people don’t talk about this aspect of veganism honestly! I get 100g protein a day easily with just a little bit of planning. ALSO highly highly recommend the ‘one pound meal’ recipe books by miguel barclay, absolute lifesavers and all the recipes taste amazing! Even if you still want to eat meat and animal products he does different recipe books for those diets too so if nothing else I seriously recommend getting one of them. Anyway sorry this turned into a bit of an essay lol but hopefully something I said has been helpful?? Xx
I've found stocking up on staples like rice, canned fish, tofu, pasta and frozen veggies in the past few months has really helped in creating budget meals. Also things that store well like garlic, onions and potatoes. I've also started a veggie patch, where I grow things like broccoli, snow peas, broad beans, beetroot and garden peas (sown in Autumn) and tomatoes, potatoes, green beans, zucchini and capsicum (sown in Spring) and carrot and lettuce (sown through the year). Veggies in Australia cost so much, so I've found this to really help. And when I harvest them, I can keep the excess in snap lock bags in the fridge or freezer. I'm also going to try bottling tomatoes to use in sauce and canning the beetroot this year. I'm growing some fruit trees, but most of them fruit in the Spring, so I'm going to try canning some of them, making jam from the berries and freeze some of the cherries, too. The citrus trees (orange and lemon) fruit through most of the year, which really helps, too.
I really enjoyed watching this video. I have been struggling with my Sunday’s and how to keep productive and prepare for my upcoming week. This video definitely gave me some inspiration.
I know this video is old, but just wanted to say that black bananas are actually preferable for banana bread! I know it looks odd, but it will make for a much sweeter and (I don’t know what other word to use… 😅) moister bread. 🤤🥰
Thank you so so so much holly for motivating me and I really love your vlogs so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 20K Subscribers very very soon!❤️😊✨
Yeah was about to comment the same! No.1 rule of baking is you have to follow the recipe exactly if you want a good result, at least in the beginning when you’re not as experienced and don’t know which things you can swap out or change amounts of without changing the chemistry of the thing you’re baking. It’s really important to keep the ratios of fats : dry ingredients : liquids/water : eggs/binding ingredients : raising agents the same, or you sacrifice the result. If you’re trying to cut down on fat, you’re honestly better off trying a different recipe that’s designed to be low fat :) reducing ingredients on a whim or changing the order of mixing will just ruin it.
Such good advice and info I really need. I do have a question though. What do you do when something out of your control happens so that the whole day/week isn't thrown off?
Thank you so much!! Honestly the best thing to do is adapt and overcome, don’t let one thing throw you off, you’ve got your plan just jump back into it and be kind to yourself! Little hiccups will always happen or spontaneous plans, just enjoy them and pick up where you’ve left off ❤️
you talk too much not a goood way like why do we need to know if you're cleaning xyand z if you not showing it ? i dont see the need and also just be yourself show it all or don't mentioned it

Going veggie heavy protein has helped with food shop costs!

The Aldi chocolate protein mousse is soooooo goooooooooood ❤
I think it was dry because of less oil used! Next time add a little sugar free apple sauce or a runny nut butter!😊

First time seeing your videos. Instant sub:)
OH MY! Only £54!? In the US where I live that haul would have easily been $125 maybe $150 💸
That would easily cost at least double in Australia.
Hi, thanks for great video as always💓 could you please add the ingredients for the banana bread? thanks
I will be popping it on Instagram when I’ve perfected it!!!
Wow that grocery trip is really inexpensive compared to the US!
hey what camera do you film on?
Good idea
