    I’m actually, very thankful that these fashion brands are increasing their prices. It’s making bespoke tailoring seem more reasonable and preventing lot of these small companies from going under and pushing for the desire for better quality clothing.

    my only issue w pharrell is what is his intentions? like “oh this was inspired by nautical blah blah” okay. but can drawing inspiration from anything you woke up thinking about this morning carry you for years worth of collections as a creative director? Virgil was dissecting race, gender norms, class… even the collections i didnt like i desperately wanted to find out what was going on in his mind. and even if you didnt like it, understanding it helps you at least appreciate the work. with pharrell it just seems flat. but yea, lets see what he does in the coming years. slightly excited for his FW24

      I totally agree with you - but the average regular wealthy consumer of LV is not that deep

    • @Wokesha
      @Wokesha 10 месяцев назад +4

      @@hollygrace6814 i understand. i dont expect them to be thinking that deep, but its inspiration like that that can lead to great design. With Virgil it was like watching a passionate artist do his work, and the collections reflected that. current Pharrell feels like a guy who’s just doing his job and is happy to be there, at least imo. but again, we’ll see.

      @@Wokeshawell I think you hit the nail on the head. That’s probably exactly how Pharrell is, Virgil though, almost had something to prove in a way, as it was quite monumental for a streetwear designer and someone of his background to be appointed to such a position, and his output + creativity definitely was shown. Pharrell probably still has some pressure on his shoulders, but it does seem as if there’s less of a concern for him to perform, unless the sales dwindle, which I’m not sure if they are or not. He likely won’t end up having nearly the same impact on LV as Virgil did though that’s for sure.

    Honestly I'm pretty keen to see this upcoming January FW24 collection from Pharrell and Louis Vuitton. I think within 2-3 seasons we're going to really see him get into the pace of a role like that and output some pretty strong collections. I think Virgil started slow, but by the end of his tenure, his last 3 shows to me were pretty phenomenal. It's unrealistic to see designers knock it right out the park with a debut collection imo. What I do wonder though is what Pharrell has to say, through the clothes / collections. I think Virgil actually had quite a lot that he wanted to discuss through the medium of fashion, and it was very distinct in his later LV collections. I'm excited to see if Pharrell finds a strong narrative / topic he wants to explore throughout his tenure!

    PF and RST used to be purely to have something new in the stores between seasons, now its turning into just another vie for attention. I actually think thats a great idea for those big brands, makes sense to keep the name of the brand in mouths, it keeps their value up after all. The clothes arent special, sure, but I think you can argue specifically for PF/RST that they're not meant to be. The only real negatives to this are for the consumer; that it takes space from actually interesting designers and has the potential to water down the other collections. I dont think any of the companies doing PF/RST collections like this see those as negatives much tho, just because of course they want to take space from easy targets and why worry about making less of an impact twice a year when you can have it four times a year, twice when there is less competition? So, eventhough Mr D and you made really valid and interesting poings I just dont think we will see it going anywhere tbh - I mean not unless it gets so incredibly dull that we have nothing to talk about at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    "nah I'm pretty sure there's a show tomorrow" 💀 mr.december did not have to body the LV assistants like that.
    its all getting so ridiculous, just do your two shows a year and drop a more commercial collection to keep new merchandise in the stores flowing so customers have a reason to keep coming in between seasons, but you don't need all this pomp for "filler"; mr.december is right

    Virgil had a broader artistic vision for fashion, performance art, specific communities and socitety at large. I dont see this multi-disciplinary vision in Pharells work.While he did display innovative approaches in music, he fails to tranfer this skill to fashion in the way Kanye or Virgil could and would do.

    Louis Vuitton made a very big mistake with hiring a person that does not have a fashion design degree that is ridiculous you first have to know the history of and what has evolved. I can't believe these companies didn't learn from Kanye West's failures in fashion..you need a degree.

    Pharrell takes everything from Kenzo and puts a LV on it
    There is no creative direction at all
    He is one of the most overrated designers of all time, logo maximalism and the low below on diff styles, Pharrell confirms that not because it’s expensive means that is good, quality is a must, but a great design it’s what you really are here for

    Designers working 8 to 12 months ahead of a show... Maybe before but not now. When Pharrell joined LV they were probably just before the launch of prototypes 2, not more, everything can change at this stage
    And with the number of silhouettes it's certainly insane, they probably make all the man vestiaire every season haha
    From what I've heard, he perfectly listened to the marketing teams' guidelines, not surprising, on his 1st show but let's see what he can do from the begginning on a big collection as next runway in January
