Asuka is the kind of character who gets basically nothing for free. She has to play a very poke-heavy mind game with the opponent in neutral. Her biggest damage comes from making a hard read. And if the player makes the wrong read they risk getting hit with a full combo.
Almost all of Asuka's best tools are a life or death gamble. Things like B3, F2, D1+2 and DB3, key moves, are all basically launch punishable. FF1 is one of her only ways to be plus on block. It is short-ranged, telegraphed and so linear/easy to step in either direction that it can be stepped even while she is +5. She is so negative on whiff she stumbles forward and you have all week to punish. But it's a tool she more or less has to use. Everything is a life or death gamble in a game with characters who can two touch you or lock you into a vortex with no good panic options.
I continue to play Asuka because it is exciting and engaging but fuck me it feels like I'm fighting for my life in the trenches at times.
Got exactly same feelings. Playing Victor is like a breeze or Jack 8 compared to Asuka.
Her b3 and db3 (-12) are not launch punishable, b3 despite being -16 is not launch punishable because of range. She can get plus frames and cheap damage easily with naniwa gusto moves fff1+2 and ff1+2 which is why she is monster in heat.Also F4 and fff3 give her not much but enough plus frames to work with. F3 and cancans are the best Punic buttons in this game, you can just throw those moves randomly . She is weak in this game but not as weak as you say lol
This is exactly how I feel being a asuka main there’s so many different match ups that she just struggles against
@@Straaaayyyy b3 is -19, db3 is only low that is usable (but it is too slow to be thrown at any moment). All 3 options of approaching WR1+2, dash ff1+2 and WR3 are openselectable (basically because ff1+2, and WR3 are linear af and WR1+2 despite being homing is short af high attack) and on higher ranks you risk getting launch on every range closing. F4 is relatively usable but pressing on +3 you risk getting armored or stepped (b4 loses to jab). u1+2 pushes too far to use its pluses, so basically nothing monster about Asuka in heat. Ofc all these works pretty well on ranks lower than blue, but on higher ranks you get nothing for free.
@@diyourka2221 she has good lows lol. D1+2 is decent unseeable low. As for plus frames Wr 1+2 crushes highs and the fact that it’s homing and crazy plus is good. Ff1+2 is decent. Ff1 is shit for sure. F4 is basically +3 ch homing launcher, it’s hard to combo but if you learn it’s very good move. Man you just talk about all these moves as though they are absolute shit lol. The fact that they have counter play doesn’t make them bad. You can’t imagine how good wr1+2 is. Pro players like fergus often use it successfully, plus frames enough to 50/50 your opponent on block. Asuka is low tier but has decent things
asuka is parry queen, 4 differents parrys for each situations, but classic parry is nerfed a lot compared to t7
Sadly, some Asuka players hardly utilize sabakis and reversals on their playstyle.

@@gameroutoftime117 As Kira said, without them Asuka is pretty awful compared to every other character. But even with them it's not free like a lot of the stronger characters. They are hard reads or string knowledge. It's a huge risk when using them. In T8 Asuka is the kind of character who gambles it all with some key moves that are strong but can also get her killed.

The only advantage I have as an asuka main is nobody plays her, so hardly anyone knows the matchup

People sleep on Asuka so no one uses her and so not many folks are very use to the match-up or expect much from her. I'm not saying she's high or mid tier nor am I talking down on her, I use her. But I think these factors benefit her.
They definitely do. Anyone I've taught the MU however knows and they definitely exploit me for it from time to time. An example of that would be how linear she is in neutral.
@@kingreyjrgamingI lost my main in this game so I’ve been playing Asuka and Lili got them both to Tekken king, I played asuka a bit in T7 and her general stuff being weaker like SS2 cancan db1 definitely hurts, wondered what you would like to see be buffed or added to her to make her play better in this game? I like her gusto buff but it only buffing 3 moves is kinda lame, the spike u1+2 only really connects after a tornado and removes any combo expression with it, the scaling being nerfed makes it not really worth it half the time either, should of instead had FF1 be buffed by gusto, and when buffed it was like her old rage drive, plus on block, launcher, spike, and no big whiff animation, then make the U1+2 in gusto guard break for 2,3 or something since U1+2 is slow and not the easiest to use in neutral, maybe have FC DF3 be buffable and have some plus on block and wall bounce on hit but IDK, something else I found out is you can do 1+4 into heat smash for a wall combo and it gives vile oki, if they press df3 re wall splats, if the stay on the ground it hits them, they have to back tech roll before getting slammed into the ground and I haven’t seen anyone do that yet at tekken king

She has a 15 frame counter hit mid safe knee.
A mid safe 16 frame launcher.
Plenty of counter hit set ups.
Good low crush, and high crush while being safe.!!.
All the parries you need.
Easy mode mid range launcher.
Good standing lows for defense.
@@MDobs-ko8bp parries aren’t even that good in this game compared to t7 more yes but good luck getting em consistently. I mean I play her personally and it’s not an easy thing to win I’m not anything like drago or king or jun yeah I have launchers I’d say decent ones but I really don’t see any bs moves you can really exploit. Everything just feels alright. And pro players agree Ive seen many pro players Asuka and non asuka pros say she is bottom 5 or low tier
