    seems like that little unit was super handy to have! Not having so switch attachments on your tractor is going to be a huge time saver!

    You might think about making a smallish, square-based pyramid to slip over the central area where the four totes come together. Orient it so that the corners of the base align with the adjacent sides of the totes. It should help distribute the wood more evenly. It can be lifted off once the totes are nearly full.

    To fill the last bit of the back tote could you speed up the conveyor to give a bit more umph to get to the back tote?

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  3 месяца назад

      Conveyor speed isn’t adjustable

    Jake, just did this, thought I'd share w u or others w arborwear hoodie. W the hood being well, huge, I get sick of it flipping up when I bend over. I put one of my hunting back tags in it, thru inside of hood and back of hoodie .Basically a giant safety pin. Works great. May have to adjust for comfort.

    Jake, I'd say the species of the wood will make a difference, beech will slow the conveyor and probably won't throw as far, also it takes alot longer to dry than the other woods, good job

    I am amazed how much them mini skids can do. It do 2 times as much as my little tractor and probably smaller foot print. You definitely can’t complain about some free wood for your personal burning. My stove burn up to 24. Can get more stacked in at 16 to 18. Great work. ✌🏻

    So many variables that could affect the "throw" on your firewood. Box wedge height (weight and therefore inertia of pieces), elevator velocity, elevator angle which will also affect the drag on your grizzly bars etc. Even the exterior moisture level of the wood can effect the coefficient of friction. Achieving absolute perfection time after time may in fact prove to be difficult. I think you guys got it close, a little bit of levelling here and there. I've been thinking about developing a lightweight but tough firewood "rake" for levelling off and emptying totes, trailers, etc. If it was effective, I know the market would be severely limited but it seems there would be a few takers here and there.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  3 месяца назад

      Yep lots of variables, conveyor isn’t variable speed but wood is heavier and lighter which I’m sure plays into it

    Hey guys, with your back totes not filling up even with your being on your marks .It might be the speed of your conveyor not throwing the wood off the conveyer as muc

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  3 месяца назад

      The conveyor speed isn’t adjustable but the heavier wood might be slowing it down

    Good video 👍 I think the mini skid steer will fit in great. You won't have to swap between attachments and the mini is small enough to fit in tighter spaces than the tractor. I assume the fuel consumption is better as well. The sweet spot may vary depending on species and moisture content due to weight differences and how much "bounce" per species 🤷

    • @lyleharkness-rv5vf

      Beech is used for bowling alley flooring because it naturally inhibits vibration and bounce, where hard maple is used for bowling pins and baseball bats because it amplifies vibration

    The more you use the mini the more ways y'all will.learn to use it. I use mine for Mostly splitting huge rounds and with clean up. Mine will only lift 520 lb so not good st moving totes. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

    I’ve been going back and forth on either a mini stand on or a mini excavator to get down the road. Then be able to offer small amounts of dirt work when I wasn’t busy with wood. I know both have there pros and cons, what made you go with the mini stand on loader?

      It was given to me, but it is a very capable machine so far. I’d also like to have a mini ex someday I think they are very capable with minimal ground disturbance.

    Maybe the heavier wood falls straight down where as lighter wood might get shot further back by the conveyor. Just a thought. I used my log lift bags for the first time yesterday and definitely the back of the bag takes a beating

    your pieces hitting totes differently may be due to a different conveyor speed.

    I don’t think you guys should be cutting with the chainsaw without chaps on. Accidents happen every day to people not wearing them.
