What you’re not understanding is that you don’t have to have a partner you just go down to the courts and put your paddle in line. The games are like 10-15 min. Then you go on the side and wait and socialize with your new friends ! That’s the best part to me ! We had a 91 year old show up yesterday day and we all enjoyed a game with him ! 91 !

If that is the case, playing badminton is way better, no space or court constraints.
This just look silly man, hybrid abomination. But hey, that is just my ignorance. Let me know in the coming years, if this urban time pass game becomes popular.

I'm a tennis player but I totally love seeing everyone be able to enjoy a racket sport. It is true that once you develop an obsession with the sport you can't imagine life without it. I'm glad everyone can have that feeling

Have to drop some truths real quick before all the die-hard tennis players come in here and spit false information.
1.) Pickleball is not the enemy of tennis and should be embraced for allowing people who could no longer play tennis continue to live a healthy lifestyle.
2.) Just because people with mobility issues play the sport doesn't mean the sport can't give you a killer workout. Playing at high levels in any sport will give a good workout - you get out what you put in. Also, have you played singles?
3.) I come from a tennis background and teach both sports - pball sounds like trash (the ball is plastic so yeah) but that doesn't mean it's not fun. I stayed away from the sport for a while for this exact reason but enjoyed it from day 1.
4.) A lot of tennis players call pball a fad but it's going to be here for a very long time.
Appreciate all the racquet sports for what they provide - a community.

Bravo. I played both tennis and table tennis competitively in my younger years. I just started to played pickleball 2 months ago and instantly love it. My wife never played any sports and she is now obsesses with it. Glad to see older folks are able to continue having fun and enjoying the social aspect of it.

I play tennis, and I go to this park that they turned 2 of the tennis courts into pickleball courts 😑 sad for us minus 2 courts for tennis players 🤣

This whole wave amazes me. Every time I watch a professional pickleball match on TV, I see about 5 people in the stands. It's unwatchable on TV. Hitting the ball 30 times in the Kitchen is like No Doze.. Ping Pong is better.

First of all, I bought my house 30 years ago. Long before pickleball. I was here first! And before you throw shade on the people who complain about the noise, I challenge you to try and enjoy an outside evening at your own home when all you hear is dozens of people producing the clicky clacky version of water torture!

The sport is fine but some players need to be more considerate of other groups around. Some groups would play songs on a portable speaker and even singing along with it; putting foldable chairs on the sides between courts that got in the way of other groups; or chatting endlessly about their daily lives. It's hard to enjoy and concentrate the game with those kind of groups near you.

when a sport allows people from any class and background you get hooligans. That's why I play tennis cuz it filters out people from the lower class

FYI - a "hybrid" refers to a combination of two things only. Pickleball cannot be a "hybrid" of tennis, ping pong, and badminton.

My experience with Pickleball is that it brings together all ages, races, genders, socio-economic backgrounds and whatever else normally "separates" us as people. (I agree, however, that with the segment filming from several country clubs and a big city bar/restaurant, that's not an aspect of the sport that came through well here.)
