new from the Total War Forum Sea battles will lead directly into land battles when invading. When you attack by sea you will have to fight your way through the enemy fleet and destroy them, at which point you will be able to land on the beaches and take direct command of your land forces to continue the fight. I think it is a good compromise to full out sea and land battles happening al at once.

If the first, would there really be a point in evading war? That general/hostage is "lost" to you anyway...

I started playing Creative Assembly's games with Empire: Total War then Napoleon: Total War. Getting this game on the first day. I wish Creative Assembly did an in-depth game for the American Civil War.
@Israelpwn Common practice of that time. You forged an 'alliance' with another clan, and changed 'hostage' to ensure the alliance. If anything happened, those hostages were the first to die.
@xZak777x starcraft isn't a strategy game it's a tactics game. You memorize build orders and through superior APM adapt to other build orders. Total War games have always been the best strategy games.
there are going to be a european faction in Shogun 2 it is portugal they dont control any land they just have boats that you see randomly around the sea

@pimp500000 go to google type in "amd shop" then click "notebooks" next find "graphics processor" on the left side of the page and click on "show more" then click on "ATI mobility radeon hd 5470" take a look at these laptops. they have 4GB memory and a good graphics card and they are in okay price ranges in case you are planning to buy a laptop ( you can also look at other graphic processors in the 5000) so the laptop you told me about might be able to play it but im guessing you will have lag
@aclock2 they said that the engine can MANAGE 50 000 men battles if u want u could probably change the number of men per unit using the unit multiplier as in ETW and NTW
@Israelpwn high profile people. It might be a lord's son that come to a stronger lord's castle to live there. It didnt help much that time though, those lords had sons to spare .... No point in offering people outside a lord's clan, so no general xchanged. But I dont think Total war need complex diplomacy and economy management. Leave it to Civ and the like, I play Total War for the thirll of combat on battle fields, dip and eco management can only get complex to a certain degree.
@S2totalwarfan according to my laptop it SHOULD of run empire very well but it lagged too much....so you don't really know until you try the demo. I wouldn't assume anything or may be disappointed...
I want the units in my army to level individually and not just stand idle in battle because the game is only programmed to fight one person on one person and not group up.
@pimp500000 the game requires a 2.6ghz processor to run so i would go with a dual core that is at or near that, you can get an i7 950 for $400 bucks at 3.2ghz (check eBay for a good gaming PC for around $1500)
@MrModernstar74 The 360 would curl up, crawl into a corner, and cry itself to death. The Total War games beat down on all but the best computer rigs (mine included :( ). There's no way the 512mb of ram in the xbox could deal with the demands of the game.
I like Japan and all, but...there's something oddly wrong about having someone with a "you want to buy-a chiinnn-poo-koo-mon and habu hap-py feeleeen-su!" accent doing the narration for this thing. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if someone speaks English like this, and it's kinda the right setting for it..but there's still something about it that rubs me the wrong way and I can't quite explain it lol

when i play this game i will crush the Foreigners and drive them off,i will stick to the Code of Bushido,because after several turns you can research Gunpowder yourself.

all the total war series is make shogun, then medieval, then rome, then medieval II, then Empire, then Shogun II, then Rome II, then Empire II, then Medieval III, and so on....

@xXdenee Its a "Horo", a balloon of silk on a wooden frame, supposed to catch incoming arrows. Used by messangers and bodyguards in the main.
