That reminds me, the other day I made a very unfortunate discovery in that I noticed some rust starting to bubble up underneath my drivers door on my 2005 Honda CR-V. I attribute this rust to have been brought on by the water leak, which I ultimately determined was due to the deteriorated caulking on the lower portion of the front windshield. I'm actually getting a brand new windshield installed tomorrow morning but this rust issue is something that I am going to have to address right away. Going to talk to my body shop manager tomorrow and see if he has any suggestions as to how I should approach this ordeal. I think I may have caught it just in time before it got to the point of no return! My control arm bushings are also starting to go bad as well and of course the arms are as rusty as can be, but I think I'm going to hold off on doing those until I replace the clutch because those have to come out anyways at that point in time so that would really be the best time to address that and a whole laundry list of other "while I'm in there" concerns.

As for your oil leak, you might also check the front and rear main crank seals for seepage. I just had my front crank seal replaced along with the VTEC solenoid gasket on my Honda (I seem to remember that Saab had something similar to this on their cars, but I don't remember what it's called). I believe I also have some seepage coming from the rear main seal as well as my engine oil pan, and I also noticed that my oil pan is dented. So again, those will both be addressed when it comes time for me to replace the clutch since the oil pan requires me to lower the subframe on my car, unfortunately. Anyways, hopefully you'll be able to isolate your oil leaks as well.

Oil leak is not from oil pan. All my three 9-5 I have had would leak. It is just better to accept it than be annoyed by it I think

I must be lucky 🍀 in Uk had all wheel liners and no rust ! As a precaution treated all wing areas with Bilt Hamber anti corrosion - main floor did with Waxoyl - all cavities including side skirts as have Aero with Bilt Hamber cavity wax - lucky to have local garage who lets me hire a lift - spent four dirty sessions cleaning and spraying anti corrosion on inside of wings - hopefully car will last ! 🙏 It’s a 2005- so much easier with garage lift 😊

Nice to see you taking good care of her!
About to get into the POR thing myself. Got under the Vig and noticed a nice haze of rust just starting all over the rear member. Was a garage queen until I got it. Still garaged but is my daily when the sun is out. Not wet very often, but the Ohio moisture and cold winter garage condensation do have an effect even on garaged cars. Another year and she will get a bit crispy.

My 05 saab 9-5 has a bit of rust underneath. I could probably stand to replace those on mine as well, but right now working on replacing the middle and rear muffler 🙂

Check the connections to the fuel injectors. I have not had this issue but I read about it before on UK Saabs, if you search the forum, it's post #198238. "If you get code P1676, try re-seating the connectors on the fuel injectors and connected wiring harnesses." - from The Saab Network.

Thank u for the information. Is it a costly job? Or a weekend mechanic job. I was going to replace the fuel pump thinking it that also .

@@fernm7379 When you say it keeps turning off while driving - how long would you be driving for before it switches off? How often does this happen?

Every time I drive it. I drive a couple miles than stops. Last time it turned off at a stop sign and pushed it out of the way. I turned the key like 10 times it would crank , but not start . Finally it started I parked it until I figure out what’s wrong.

165,000 on the 2001 9-5 and 140,0000 on the 2003 9-3.....still flying! Need to do subframe bushings in the 9-5 again though. Good wintertime project.

Subframe bushings again? At what mileage did you replace your subframe bushings and did you use Powerflex bushings? I'm driving my 2003 Saab 9-5 Wagon in Chicago with 187,000 miles and I replaced my bushings many years ago with Powerflex bushings, now thanks to lousy Chicago roads, I feel like I need to re-do some bushings again :(

My 99' 9-5 has way way less rust than my 07' 9-5. Both spent all their life in the salt belt (Sweden). Every winter. The 07 had holes in the rear arches, the 99 still doesn't.
