Here's the thing, Schneider is a well-spoken guy, deals with the media well and clearly is an intelligent person. This inability to deviate from a plan when required is a MAJOR flaw. His track record on this issue just keeps getting worse and at some point will be his downfall and reason for firing. The question is not if, but when will he get fired.

John Schneider is not a baseball coach. He doesn't make baseball decisions. He has no guts . He lets analytics dominate him. This isn't coaching. Schneider into the lineup so they don't go cold, my problem is why is Vladdy hitting so high in the lineup and consistently hurting this team by not hitting in crucial men on base scenarios. Kirk is actually starting to come around but Vladdy is still wailing at pitches out of the strikezone. Move other guys up and Vladdy down. They did to Bo last year when he went into a mini slump. I suspect you're missing the point here. It isn't that JS is a bad manager nor that he would manage badly if given the opportunity to make his own decisions -- an opportunity he surely doesn't get. Rather, as a young and completely inexperienced manager he was put (and remains) in place precisely because he lacks the authority or gravitas to push back against upper management micro-managing the team. It's his very pliability that is the source of his job credentials. I suspect, someday, if he can gain more experience and thus more authority, he may be quite a good manager. I doubt though it will be with the Jays.
