- Hey everyone sorry for the lack of videos on this channel recently. I have been going through a bit of a creative rut lately. I wanted to start out 2020 by sharing my Faroe Islands landscape photography adventure with my good friend Marco Grassi. In this video I start my adventure trip by capturing some dramatic rainy timelapses over some beautiful fjords. This was such a blast of a trip where I capture some of my favorite images from 2019, this video is just the beginning.
Check out my friend Marco Grassi from this video!

When Marco said lunch at the gas station for hot dogs and ice cream, it reminded me of my first lunch in Icleand. You just HAVE to do it!
Nice vlog! Looking very much forward to the next :)
thanks man!
I was in the Faroes 2 years ago doing timelapse, I'm glad to see these beautiful mountains again. Thanks Michael.
Awesome... nothing much to say... timelapses are nothing seen before... just awesome
Thanks so much!
The video looks really pro. Loved it! Hoping one day I go to the Faroe Islands.
Great vlog! You made the rain work for you quite well! I am heading straight to vlog 2!
Beautiful !
what an epic start to the journey!! Plus some drone magic! Already brining back all the feels and memories (and hot dogs) of that trip!! Can't wait for part 2!
Thanks so much man. I promise episode 2 is going to be way better! :D
@@MichaelShainblum So more Marco and more hot dogs? haha
The hot dog buns were different than in the U.S. Here the dogs are laid in a split bun where there they
squirt what ever sauce you want into a round bun with a hole the dog is inserted in.
Beautiful even with the weather. Love the timelapses.
Thanks Debby :)
Great video! Nice timelapses. Can't wait to see more about Faroe!
Not expecting to see Marco Grassi with you, what a pleasure, two of the most amazing and talented landscape photographers out there. Pretty funny when Marco was breaking the lamp, we Italians all know what he was gonna to say ahaha
Great video Michael, looking forward to see the next episodes from Faroe Islands
Happy New Year Michael. Have a fantastic 2020.
Happy New Year! :)
Your timelapses are world famous eh greatest! Nice work and fun about the pizza..

Always beautiful and spectacular production. Good for you Michael. I'm excited to see more.
Saw it twice already! You got me hooked for episode 2 Michael. What are those guys up to?! Do they have super powers after that remarkable dinner? 😀 Who knows, who knows!
WONDERFUL! - I am "Fall in LOVE with Faroe Islands"! - Happy New Year!
Your Visions Take My Breathe aways all the time Thanks Michael Happy 2020
Thank you so much!
@@MichaelShainblum Your welcome ;)
This seems to be a very interesting region, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!

My idole in action
Awesome video Michael! I look forward to the next one.
Thanks for watching Joel!
This really makes me want to go!
Thanks for Sharing Michael. Pakistani follower from Dubai.
Love that timelapse clip at the end. I always wondered if there was a good comp from there and now I KNOW ;)
Love your vids and pics a lot, looking forward for the next episode!
Thank you :)
Would be really nice if you can share some techniques for scouting and finding spots. Finding unique composition sometimes is the most creative part. Would love to learn from you! :)
Nice video Michael and what an amazing landscape. Your time lapses are just mesmerizing. Care to share any tips on settings for a good starting point? I shoot with a D810 and would like to try my hand at it but just haven’t a clue as to the intervals/durations etc. to produce anything remotely resembling a decent time lapse.
Marco's face when he sees pizza is....... :-))
So cool, you got a new sub here!
Your videos, voice, transitions are so so so smooth and peaceful!
Thanks so much Ram!
Your vlogs are incredible, can't wait for more!
Hey thanks so much Marek!
Wonderful! I can't wait the next episode. But please no pizza in the next video! For an Italian is too much.... :)))
Wow that intro was right to the point... get it... point
You can't understand how sad it is for an Italian to see such a pizza....I can understand Marco 😅
I'm not Italian but I can totally understand how sad Marco felt 😉 I'm English and never buy pizza at home but when I lived in Italy for a few years I thrived on some amazing pizzas 🍕👍🏼
Wow! Great place.... great video...keep the awesome work! ;)
Thank you :)
Incredible video Michael! I've been to the Faroe Islands this summer and It was really mindblowing (except for the pizza, I am Italian and I've tried the same restaurant in Klaksvik... and well It was the worst thing of the trip...)
We went to a pizza shop out in Vagar that was pretty good, but yeah this one was not.
Amazing timelapses!
Thank you so much!
How do you manage taking sharp shots with a telephoto lens with such a crazy wind?
I use stabilization for the video clips. For the images I just shoot really short shutterspeeds to get rid of blur. If I needed to shoot a long exposure I would put the camera as low to the ground as possible and find a rock to block the wind or an object.
Hey man, what drone do you use?
Cool stuff out there 😳😳😳.
Excelente, espero que algún día pueda hacer esos timelapse impresionantes; Ya estoy practicando
Michael Shainblum.
Thank you for sharing Michael! I'm intrigued about your comment above (I'm in a creative rut) and very much appreciate your transparency. I think we all go through that from time to time and am wondering if that might be a topic for a new episode? How do you pull yourself out of the rut? Thanks again.
Hey Michael! I actually wrote an article about it on my website. To be honest I think this rut had more to do with making these videos then actually taking photos. I just felt sudden inspiration to start working on and releasing these Faroe Island videos after a few months. :)
@@MichaelShainblum - just read your blog about dealing with a creative block...very helpful! I especially like your suggestion about getting out of your comfort zone and trying to do things to spark your creativity. And also the suggestion to sometimes leave your camera behind. Thanks again and I very much enjoy your vlogs and your your photography. Best to you in 2020.
Really nice! Enjoy! ^^
Curious about the panning in your time lapses, is that done in camera or in post?
can you tell me how long it took to walk up the top..
like 20-30 mins, not too long.
I love that pizza place, i live in klaksvík. Hope you had a great stay
I had a great stay, you live in a truly incredible place! I really want to come back again this year. I hope you don't mind me poking fun at the pizza :P
Great video, what month of the year did you visit?
September :)
oh so where is the pizza shop and how much was it... we are going in April
Having been there I can tell you food isn't cheap. The large is about $35 U.S and the Small about $15. I sure ate
a lot of gas station hot dogs while there. In Torshavn there is a nice fish and chips place where you can get a basket
for about $15 U.S. Try the IPA beer while there!
greetings from Mexico your videos are very good I like them a lot, I suggest if possible activate the translation to more languages so that we can enjoy even more the people that we see your content from other parts of the world cordial greetings
What telephoto lens is Marco using??
I think it was a sony 100-400
@@MichaelShainblum thank you
Epic intro
Thank you sir!
what's your vlogging camera?
Nikon D850
@@MichaelShainblum wow, I thought smth more compact and light-weight like Osmo
You must come to Greece, to try our pizza !!
If you want good pizza, go to Rafik in the town Runavík
I will try it out next time :)
So its hotdogs then lol
The pizza is better in Vagar near the airport. Also Tórshavn has some decent food!
How much did the pizza cost? 😅
too much :(
8:01 Is that a Wilhelm scream I just heard? What was that? Lol
I has thinking the exact same thing as I was editing! That was a natural yell from someone across the street.
There´s a hang out place for the young people after school there it gets pretty loud sometimes :D
