Wrt superposition score (and other benchmarks), the results will be less than desktop 2070 results because the clocks are 400-600MHz lower on the laptop. You can see the core frequency fluctuating between 1.3 - 1.5GHz (vs ~1.9GHz on desktop), that's nvidia gpu boost at work adjusting things according to thermals etc. This is always gonna be an issue on laptops with their thermal characteristics. Still great performance though.
Hello! I wish to know if this is already a decent device for running statistical computing softwares like SAS or R for processing large datasets. Thank you very much in advance!

Bob Of All Trades I just bought this laptop today from Lenovo’s site. I got the 17” with i7-9700h, 2080 max-w, 16 gigs of ram (which I have the 32 gig replacement already waiting on it here), 1tb ssd for just over $1600. If I don’t like the keyboard, I’ll probably just end up getting a stand-alone keyboard. I think at the price I got it for, I can put up with the imperfections lol.
i love that you chose carbon based lifeforms as music sample ! I am such a fan! haha thank you for this review helps a lot with choosing my next laptop
I have the 17.3 inch model and the 15.6 inch problems are all adressed, the camera is on the top bezel, the kb layout is much better, without those pesky macro keys, the battery is mutch bigger, with 76Wh, I can easily get 6+ hours of battery life with swichable graphics on, the tradeoffs are of course the weight and the larger bezels...
No sure if I'll buy it, it's due to be released here on the 25th I think. The stock Android and no bloatware looks like a great move more need to follow, and that big 5000mah battery. However, for experience, ASUS isn't great at camera optimisation. Still for $499 it looks promising.
@@Techtablets have seen some initial impressions, the camera seems to be promising especially the HDR++ mode, please check it out, no proper reviews are available in English.
Keep in mind that the PL1 will drop to 45W when dGPU is under load for some time. I think this is a good solution to balance thermals and performance. Also, the fan noise is one of the quietest compared to other RTX laptops. Can you test out the battery life with Optimus? (this model has MUX)

You and MobileTechReview I can rely on, a rare thing. More power to you.
I think the general consensus among reviewers is that this laptop is by far the best option for an RTX laptop given price to performance. In regards to the keyboard, i doubt gamers don't have keyboards with macro keys on them anyway so that shouldn't be that much of an issue.
Seems that well for me with the 4 other 8750h laptops I've tested this got the best scores and performance. And then, of course, the RTX 2070 is no slouch even if it's the Max-Q version.
You usually review Chinese store products, do you get the Lenovo laptops from anywhere besides official Lenovo? Also how do you configure the afterburner to show like in 10:43?
As per the manual, you can install the 76Whr battery from the 17' model but that would require you to remove the 2.5" drive. So, if you can go with a big NVMe drive you should be able to have the bigger battery.
Yeah, the battery is like less than 2.5 hrs. And that's with everything turned down or off. But if you can carry around the charging brick. It's amazing as long as it's plugged in.
@@AlexThorn You can turn off gsync by just putting the laptop in hybrid mode, that should bring the battery life to 3+ hrs of non gaming usage. Also, of we can reduce the screen refresh rate to 72 out something let that should also help.
Good to see ur reviewing mainstream laptops aswell now..imho,the best value are 1660ti/rtx2060 laptops..if there's a 17" on the cheap with those two, that's a great value considering most laptop panels is still in 1080p
This laptop is great. I was broke when buying it but I don't regret that purchase at all. The only thing I don't like about it is the macro keys and the lid which feels loose as you can see when move the laptop in the beginning of the video but those are minor issues.
Hey Chris, excellent review as always! Is there any chance of you being able to review the Asus TUF fx505dy (the and version with the 120hz display)? I've bought this for 700£ GBP and I'd like to hear your thoughts
Not sure the last ASUS TUF I bought was horrible with 25W TDP power throttling with its 8750H. And I have no ASUS contact that can loan me one to review.
@@Techtablets yes I saw that review and that's what made me wait until this version came out. From what I have observed, this model doesn't have any throttling issues due to a front air vent. Also, the Radeon R3550H from my gaming use (Black ops 3 all high settings running at a 120hz lock) all cores stay stable at 3.6ghz
@@Techtablets All I'm saying is, compared to my last laptop (MSI ge62 Apache pro) this thing runs cool and doesn't sound like an A380 next to your ears

Hey Chris great review! Really insightful. Do you think I can get around 4 hours+ on the Legion Y540 (144hz panel, Geforce 1660 ti 6GB version) on battery during casual use (ms office, light programming) using the hybrid graphics , power saver mode, low brightness and maybe dropping the refresh rate to 60hz, since both the models use the same battery?
Great review. But I'll personally never buy a Lenovo again. Bought the Yoga Pro laptop a few years back and had nothing but problems. 2 screens, constant frozen touchpad, major lag, screen auto dimming even when disabled, bad viewing angles, battery life was awful (after 1yr - 90min). And more...
